For several seconds after the battlefield disappeared, nobody moved.
The silence that followed the collapse of the region felt almost unnatural. Moments ago they had been surrounded by monsters, broken mountains, shifting terrain and a trial that seemed determined to keep them trapped forever. Now there was nothing. No battlefield. No creatures. No cracks in the earth. Even the strange voice that had spoken to them was gone, leaving the group standing in an empty expanse with no clear idea what they were supposed to do next.
Liam slowly looked around.
Then someone appeared.
There was no flash of light.
No explosion.
No disturbance in the air.
One moment there was nothing in front of them and the next, a man was simply standing there.
Liam’s eyes narrowed immediately.
The stranger looked neither old nor young. His appearance was almost impossible to place. He wore a long white robe that fell loosely around his body, the fabric so clean and bright that it almost seemed to produce its own faint glow. His hair was completely white and fell smoothly around his face, reaching down past his shoulders. His skin was pale and flawless, almost without any visible imperfection.
But it was his eyes that caught Liam’s attention.
They were completely white.
Not silver.
Not pale blue.
White.
There was no visible pupil or iris.
Yet Liam had the strange sensation that the man could see everything.
Liam’s instincts immediately told him to be careful.
He activated his Omniscient Eye.
His vision sharpened.
The world seemed to slow for the briefest moment as the system attempted to analyze the stranger.
Then came the familiar sound.
[Ding!]
Liam waited.
Nothing appeared.
Then another message materialized.
[Error.]
Liam’s expression changed.
His eyes widened slightly.
Error?
Not unknown.
Not insufficient information.
Not analysis failed.
Error.
He had never seen that before.
His system had identified beasts, witches, creatures and even things that existed outside ordinary magical classifications. When it couldn’t understand something, it simply told him unknown.
But this was different.
The system itself had encountered something that it couldn’t process.
Liam stared at the man.
The stranger looked directly back at him.
For a brief moment, neither of them moved.
Then the white-haired man smiled.
It wasn’t a mocking smile.
It wasn’t threatening either.
It was almost amused.
He slowly shook his head.
Liam’s heart skipped.
The meaning was obvious.
Don’t.
The man knew.
He knew Liam had tried to scan him.
Liam didn’t say anything, but his mind was already racing. How could someone know what the system was doing? Even most powerful beings he had encountered had no idea when he was using his abilities.
Who was this man?
More importantly, what exactly was he?
Liam kept his expression calm, refusing to reveal how stunned he actually was.
Agatha was the first to break the silence.
She stepped forward cautiously, though she didn’t appear frightened anymore.
"We seek an audience with the Seer."
The white-haired man turned his attention toward her.
For several seconds, he simply studied the witch.
Then he nodded.
"You have proven yourselves worthy of her audience."
His voice was strangely calm.
It didn’t echo, yet somehow everyone heard it with perfect clarity.
"You may enter."
He raised one hand.
The air in front of him rippled.
A thin line of brilliant white light appeared in empty space and slowly widened until it became a doorway.
There was no wall around it.
No structure supporting it.
Just a door standing in the middle of nowhere.
The surface inside the doorway looked almost like liquid light.
Everyone exchanged uncertain glances.
Agatha eventually took the first step.
The moment she crossed the threshold, the light swallowed her completely.
Tatiana followed.
Then Gregor.
Mary.
Irina.
Leonid.
Liam remained last.
He glanced once more at the white-haired man.
Something about him bothered Liam.
Not because he felt hostile.
Quite the opposite.
The man felt impossibly calm.
Like someone who had existed long enough that nothing in the universe could surprise him anymore.
Liam took one step toward the doorway.
Then another.
Just before he crossed through, the man’s voice came from behind him.
"We have been waiting a long time for you..."
Liam stopped.
His eyes narrowed.
The stranger continued.
"Caelus Vaelorian."
Liam’s entire body went still.
"What?"
He turned sharply.
But the moment he did, the light from the doorway surged around him.
There was no time to ask another question.
The world disappeared.
For a moment Liam couldn’t see anything.
Then he felt something beneath his boots.
He frowned.
It felt soft.
Almost weightless.
He opened his eyes.
And froze.
He was standing on a cloud.
Not metaphorically.
Not some strange magical platform that merely resembled one.
An actual cloud.
Liam slowly lifted one foot and pressed it down again.
The surface compressed slightly beneath his boot before returning to its original shape.
"What the..."
He looked around.
The others were standing nearby, all of them wearing expressions ranging from confusion to complete disbelief.
They were surrounded by an endless white landscape.
Clouds stretched in every direction as far as Liam could see. Some formed enormous hills while others drifted lazily through the air below them. Above, there was no ordinary sky. Instead, countless streams of soft golden light moved through the atmosphere like rivers suspended in the heavens.
It was beautiful.
But Liam couldn’t stop staring at his feet.
"We’re walking on clouds."
Gregor slowly crouched down and pressed his hand against the surface.
His fingers sank slightly into it.
He immediately pulled his hand back.
"This makes no sense."
Mary looked around in wonder.
"Apparently we’re beyond the point where sense matters."
Leonid chuckled quietly.
"I’ve seen some strange things in my life, but this is new."
Liam barely heard them.
His attention was drawn to Irina, who was standing directly behind him.
She glanced at him.
"How’s your wound?"
Liam looked down.
The ice covering his side had begun melting. Small drops of water slid down his skin before disappearing into the cloud beneath them.
He gently touched the frozen area.
"It’s going to leave one nasty scar."
Irina rolled her eyes.
"As if you’re not going to heal completely."
"Probably."
"Then stop complaining."
Liam smiled faintly.
Before he could answer, a sound suddenly rolled through the heavens.
It wasn’t thunder.
It wasn’t music.
It wasn’t anything Liam had ever heard before.
It was a deep, resonant tone that seemed to come from everywhere at once.
BOOOOOOOOM.
The clouds trembled.
The golden streams of light rippled.
Every member of the group instinctively turned toward the sound.
Then another tone followed.
Softer.
Higher.
Almost like a divine bell being struck somewhere beyond the visible world.
The clouds ahead began parting.
Light poured through the opening.
Someone was walking toward them.
At first, Liam could only make out a silhouette.
Then she stepped completely into view.
And the entire group fell silent.
She was a woman.
At least, that was the closest word their minds could find.
Because calling her merely a woman felt almost insulting.
She looked like something that had been created before beauty itself had been given a definition.
Her long white hair flowed freely behind her, extending far down her back like a waterfall made of moonlight. Every strand seemed impossibly smooth, catching the golden light around her and reflecting it with a soft silver brilliance.
Her face was flawless.
Not merely beautiful.
Perfect.
Her features possessed an almost impossible harmony, as though every detail had been carefully designed without a single mistake. Her eyes were clear and luminous, carrying a depth that made Liam feel as though he were looking into an endless sky. Her eyebrows were delicately shaped, her nose elegant, her lips naturally soft and perfectly formed.
There was something peaceful about her expression.
Yet that peacefulness only made her more overwhelming.
Her figure was equally extraordinary, balanced with an almost supernatural perfection. She possessed graceful curves and an elegant posture, but there was nothing excessive about her appearance. Everything about her seemed proportioned with impossible precision, from the gentle line of her shoulders to her narrow waist and the graceful way she carried herself.
Her white garments flowed around her like living clouds, layered with faint golden patterns that seemed to shift whenever she moved.
She didn’t walk like an ordinary person.
She seemed to glide.
The air itself appeared to make room for her.
Tatiana stared.
Mary stared.
Agatha’s expression had completely changed.
Even Irina, who normally had a sharp comment ready for almost anything, couldn’t find words.
Leonid’s mouth was slightly open.
Gregor looked as though he had forgotten how to blink.
But Liam...
Liam was completely frozen.
The moment her eyes settled on him, something inside his chest tightened.
It wasn’t simply attraction.
It was something deeper.
Something he couldn’t explain.
The woman stopped several metres away.
For a brief moment, her gaze traveled across the entire group.
Then it returned to Liam.
And she smiled.
It was the smallest smile.
Barely more than a gentle upward movement of her lips.
Yet the effect was immediate.
The atmosphere itself seemed to become warmer.
Tatiana unconsciously drew a breath.
Irina blinked several times.
Mary’s expression softened.
Even Agatha, who had spent her life studying magic and ancient beings, looked momentarily stunned.
But Liam felt something entirely different.
The instant that smile was directed at him, his heart gave a powerful beat.
His instincts screamed that there was something familiar about her.
Something connected to him.
Something buried so deeply within his existence that even his memories couldn’t reach it.
The woman continued looking directly into his eyes.
Then, with a voice so beautiful that it seemed to resonate through the clouds themselves, she spoke.
"Hello."
Liam didn’t answer.
For perhaps the first time since arriving in this world, the man who always seemed to have something to say had absolutely no words.
He could only stare at her.
And somewhere deep inside him, something stirred.
Something that had been asleep for a very, very long time.
