Madness: I Became The Void Itself

Chapter 1: Take Care My Beloved Brother

Life is a struggle, a battlefield, a war we fight everyday for survival, for resources, and for our own selfish desires.

This was what our elders taught us when we were first introduced to the world.

They told us to look out for the wolves who lurk in the darkness, for the crows who were waiting for the battle to end just to get the treasure, for the viper coiling around waiting for an opportunity to pounce and choke the life out of us given any chance.

All these were lessons we took to heart because we knew that they were right.

Everything was accounted for, planned for in advance, and carried out on the stage.

This.....is the world of business, a reality that looked more like a battlefield than a simple deal.

"Huff..."

In a gym filled with high-end training equipment, a topless figure could be seen panting heavily after finishing another set of push-ups and followed by a set of stretches then sat on the bench to wipe his sweat and drink some water to cool down.

"Breakfast is ready, Mr. Arthur." A voice of exuding discipline belonged to an old man in his mid 50s sounded coming from behind the young man.

"That much had passed already?" The young man said in a deep voice after taking a sip of the cool water.

"You always get absorbed in your training that you forget that 2 hours has passed since you began, sir." The old man who was wearing a butler suit said with a respectful yet slightly exasperated voice as he looked at the young man sitting on the bench.

He was Arthur Vane, the young master of the Vane family and its only heir.

His body was lean and hard, as if cut from stone.

His hair was as dark as a stateless night while his eyes had a unique tone to it, a pair of pink/purple eyes that looked unnatural in a human being like him.

Since birth, his eyes captivated anyone who looked into them making them want stare at those eyes forever that it almost caused a headache for him.

Anyway, he got used to it as time passed.

"You know me well, Sebastian." Arthur said with a little sigh before he stood up and with a towel around his neck, he went to wash away all the sweat without saying anything more to the old butler, but the man understood his master without him needing to say anything.

He would go and prepare everything for his master.

A while later.

Arthur was walking through the corridors of the mansion with a calm yet slightly cold and indifferent expression on his face. Wearing a classic black suit that was a perfect fit on his body giving him a dashing handsome look.

His steps echoed in the empty corridor as he walked steadily while paintings of high value and antiques were organized nearly on the sides giving it an elegant yet passe vibe.

After some more steps, he arrived at the doors of the dinning room and there, a servant was standing as if waiting for him.

Once the servant noticed him, he immediately opened the doors and gave a bow of respect to the young master.

Arthur nodded before entering just to find someone already inside.

"You are late, brother. What took you so long?" A soft melodious voice came out of the figure of the girl sitting on her chair, she was pouting cutely at her brother as he was really quite late.

"Sorry, the bath took quite longer than expected." Arthur said with a soft warm smile making the girl immediately melt and smile back at him with gentleness.

"Just be sure to be on time for breakfast, don’t want you to eat it cold~" Her voice was filled with concern and love for him making him nod to her.

"I won’t be late again, now let’s eat before it gets colder."

Then, he sat on his chair beside her and the two started eating their breakfast while occasionally exchanging some words about their life.

This girl was the young lady and the precious treasure to Arthur Vane.

Her name is Ella Vane, his only little sister.

She was only two years younger than him.

She had long, wavy black hair that fell past her shoulders and the same emerald-green eyes as their mother. There was something almost ethereal about her—soft features, fair skin, and a quiet gentleness that made people instinctively want to look after her.

Even the way she sat, posture relaxed yet composed, carried a quiet grace.

She looked truly magnificent and marvelous.

On the side, Sebastian looked at the two siblings exchanging words while occasionally giggling, mostly Ella as Arthur only smile warmly and lovingly at her as her responded to her.

This scene made the old butler smile from the heart.

’Master, Madame, can you see how they look happy?’ He said in his heart.

’I wish you were still here to accompany them through this fleeting happy moments.’ Then continued with a melancholic tone.

Arthur noticed the sudden shift in Sebastian’s expression but didn’t say anything to comfort him and just continued his breakfast with his sister.

After they finished their breakfast, Arthur and Ella walked out and went straight out of the mansion.

After all, Ella was still in university and had lectures she needed to attend to early as she didn’t want to go late.

And Arthur, he had his own work to do. So, he walked her out till they stood in front of a black sedan waiting for her.

"Have a good day, Ella." Arthur said in a gentle voice that warmed her heart and made her smile so beautiful like a fresh blooming flower.

"You too brother, take care of yourself, and....don’t tire yourself out, okay?" Her voice was soft filled with concern for him which warmed his heart and could only shake his head before saying. "I will my dear little sister, I will."

"Promise?" She said in a heart crushing expression that made her look super cute that Aurther’s heart ached for a moment there.

’That killer move again, she is getting good at it everytime.’ He thought.

"I promise, now off you go, don’t want you to get late." He said making her giggle softly before getting into the car.

She waved at him and he did the same before the chauffeur drove away toward her university.

As he sighed, another voice came from behind him.

"Mr. Arthur, your car is ready." It was Sebastian.

Arthur’s smile disappeared before his expression became indifferent as his eyes narrowed a little.

"Let’s go then, Sebastian."
