Ash finally reacted: "Supreme Holy Grail!"
"It’s clearly supreme knowledge, yet the Void Realm is not stopping you. The speed at which you consolidate the supreme Void Wings is faster than any of your other Void Wings. Drinking from the Holy Grail is completed in an instant, without even needing to walk and steal it. If other Void Wings require you to go over and eat the meal, the supreme Void Wings are directly stuffed into your mouth."
"It’s not that the Void Realm is unwilling to stop you, it’s that it can no longer stop you." The Drama Poet shrugged: "Your gravity has already surpassed the limits of what the Void Realm can bear."
"What do you mean?"
"Do you know how black holes are formed?" the Drama Poet asked rhetorically.
Dazzling Star said: "When a star’s nuclear fuel is exhausted and it can no longer support the massive weight of its shell, its core begins to collapse. Matter inexorably gathers at the center, ultimately forming a celestial body of infinitely small volume and infinitely large mass."
"A very eloquent answer," the Drama Poet gave a slight bow, "but the current situation is a little bit different from a black hole, at least the nuclear fuel hasn’t been exhausted. Unfortunately, though... two neutron stars have appeared at the star’s core."
"You two are like neutron stars of extreme density. Your gravitational pull on civilization has already surpassed the limit of the Void Realm. Even if you do nothing, magic knowledge will ceaselessly gather onto you. But because your magic power is already overflowing, this time the magic knowledge can only meld with your greed, resembling both a hunter chasing prey and food pursuing the diner."
"Devour the World Snake," Ash murmured.
"Ash, you might not realize it yet, but Dazzling Star, you can clearly feel it, right?" the Drama Poet said: "Every time you slay a snake, your magic realm significantly advances, allowing you to journey further along the path of the Void Realm’s heartbeat."
Ash looked at Dazzling Star. Dazzling Star was expressionless, clearly acknowledging it.
"The snake is not your enemy. On the contrary, it actually helps you seize the Void Realm’s heartbeat," the Drama Poet said: "Only by slaying the snake can you rapidly increase the magic realm of the entire faction and travel further on the final path!"
"Then the snake’s knowledge—"
"Of course, it’s drawn from the Void Realm." The Drama Poet thought for a moment and then said, "Oh right, ever since the birth of the seventh layer of the Void Realm, no more Mage’s Handbook has dropped."
"Huh?" Ash was stunned, "Why?"
"Your gravity is too great; any lofty ideal will come crashing down," the Drama Poet explained: "Not only the Mage’s Handbook but also magic power, knowledge, and anything you can imagine... Each time the snake is reborn, it will carry more power than the previous time to attack you. Your death battles are merely a facade; in truth, you are mutually devouring each other. You could even say the snake is your official bandit; it will continually steal all the world’s power and bring it to you, allowing you to progress further."
"Until it manages to devour you."
"Once it grows to a certain extent, both the Void Realm and reality will be affected, or rather, the Void Realm and reality can’t resist your gravity and merge into the snake’s body to keep the appointment."
"Like the formation of a black hole, the world’s resources will continually merge into the snake’s body. No matter how many times you defeat them, they will come back, because it’s not them chasing you—it’s you attracting them!"
"The collapse has already begun," the Drama Poet shrugged, "A black hole is about to be born, and everything is irretrievably heading toward mediocrity."
Ash’s mind whirled with countless thoughts, and he finally understood the mechanism of devouring the World Snake. But it was not only useless; it even brought more despair—no matter if they sealed the snake, it was meaningless. If this snake was sealed, a new snake would appear next time.
Just like tides, you can’t take away today’s waves without having new ones tomorrow. As long as the Supreme of Magic exerts gravity exceeding the Void Realm on the world, the world will ultimately become the snake that chases the supreme.
This isn’t a disaster but the process of civilization. The strength of the Supreme of Magic exceeds the capacity limit of the Void Realm. Even if the Supreme of Magic does nothing, the world will naturally collapse due to gravity.
If this were a game metaphor, it would be like having two players exceed max level... No, it’s that players arrived at the seventh Chapter after the max level, but the server hasn’t upgraded to support the seventh Chapter, so the entire server must be damaged because of this.
Devouring the World Snake is not their despair but the limit of civilization.
"What is the solution to devouring the World Snake?" asked Dazzling Star calmly, "According to you, this world is doomed, and besides buying time, we have no other plans."
"Magic knowledge is essentially the mage’s concept." The Drama Poet said, "This is why the snake originates from the mage’s concept—because without a mage, there would naturally be no magic knowledge, and the devouring World Snake wouldn’t be born. The mage is the womb, knowledge is the nursery, the snake is the result."
"You’re all fragments of the mage’s concept. As long as the mage’s concept isn’t fully complete and there are external mages providing free knowledge, the snake can be endlessly reborn."
"The snake is merely the result, and knowledge is just a middleman. If you want to resolve the root of the devouring World Snake, there is only one way."
"Become the sole mage, fully complete the mage’s concept."
The Drama Poet looked at them:
"That way, once you kill the devouring World Snake, it cannot be reborn... because it has completed its mission of helping you gather all knowledge. There will be no knowledge in this world that doesn’t belong to you."
"And you will become the true devouring World Snake."
What?
Ash’s expression was like a student bending down to pick up a pen in math class, momentarily failing to react. How to become the sole mage, and how to complete the mage’s concept? There are as many mages in this world as there are fragments of the mage’s concept, let alone with the possibility of someone becoming a mage every second—how to complete it—
Ash suddenly stopped, his pupils narrowing.
He immediately turned to look at Dazzling Star. Dazzling Star still seemed to look calmly at the Drama Poet, her skin as fair as snow, cold and pure, as if nothing in this world could shake her. Yet, the color reflected in her eyes was like starlight shooting from a constellation that had already perished, dazzling with a hidden void of stillness.
"Dazzling Star, we’re not discussing the Shadow Kingdom now, and it’s not just shadows that will die," Ash said, stepping back, blankly: "It’s every sentient life, from your Kingdom of Stars to the Kingdom of Blood Moon, from the Sea of Knowledge to the Seven Heavens, everything you see and don’t see, everything you can imagine and can’t imagine, all must—"
Dazzling Star gently tilted her head to look over. Perhaps because Ash’s terrified stance was amusing, the corners of her mouth slightly curved up, a trace of charm flowing at her brow, and her eyes sparkled among the starlight, smiling beautifully.
"And so what?"
