MAGUS INFINITE

Chapter 375: Standing Among Sovereigns (Bonus GT)

I had gained the inspiration to cast my spell like this, which could infuse my own flesh into it due to the lesson I had learned from the Thul Demon that had attempted to rewrite my flesh.

It had shown me that my flesh was as malleable as I wanted, if I had the presence of mind to truly push myself to the limit. All of this happened in the blink of an eye, and I was still groaning in pain when the strike arrived.

I did not recognize the magic or the discipline that was wielded against me; all I knew was that when it smashed into my cocoon, it rang like a struck bell the size of a cathedral, and for one long instant I lost the concept of up.

I was screaming as whole sections of the cocoon were vaporized, and I could dimly feel the pain of all of this happening because I had woven my own flesh into the matrix of my defense.

There was a dim awareness that I was being pressed deep into the earth, as the magic sought to unmake me, but my Adamantium Flesh did not care what sort of power it was; it held against the wrath of a Sovereign for the several long seconds that the spell barrage took.

The pressure suddenly vanished, and I distantly heard a loud crack in the sky, and I pushed my perception out of my half-melted cocoon to see a wave of brown, like a massive block of stone, shatter the green pillar that had struck me from four miles in the sky.

Oh, great... it seems that I had allies in this fight.

My arms healed before I finished the thought, and the discomfort that I endured during this process was stranger and far worse than losing them.

You see, Adamantium does not knit the way flesh knits. The wound does not scab or undergo any of the patient building processes during the healing process.

The Law of Flesh engraved inside my core as an Adamantium Titan simply examines the absence, finds it incorrect, and corrects it, but this brand of correction hurts a great deal more than the injury did.

My flesh came up out of the bone in threads, first silver, then grey, then something with the density of poured stone, before laying itself along channels that had been standing bare and glowing like worms wrapped around metal.

Celestial Marrow burned somewhere deep in my bones to pay for it. The layers arrived in the wrong order, deep sheathing before muscle, muscle before skin. It was as if my body was a house made of bricks, mortars and metals instead of flesh and blood.

Eleven seconds, and my bare bones were hands once more. I flexed my fingers, and they worked, four shades paler than the rest of me, and even this did not last for long before the pale color vanished.

I don’t think I would ever get used to how quickly I had just healed or the discomfort that comes from this process.

I cracked my cocoon open and the loose charge came home to me, then I leaped into the air, and in that moment, I switched my Titles, removing Lightning Arcanist and switching to my new Title, the Unbroken Titan... believe me, I see the irony in this Title, most of the designation I had in all my abilities carried the term, Broken Celestial, and even though I did not like to be tagged as broken, I recognized the reality of my situation, and so I found it a bit interesting that this Title had such a name.

I quickly focused on the Title in order to see its full descriptions.

[ The Unbroken Titan (Legendary)]

[Effects (while equipped):]

Adamantium Titan (Skill) receives a 25% efficiency bonus. All Celestial Marrow regeneration is accelerated by 40%.

The Law of Flesh is stabilized while this Title is active. Uncontrolled flesh-shaping is reduced by 60%. Intentional flesh-shaping is increased by 40%.

Damage that would shatter the body is converted into structural strain.

The bearer is immune to fear, pain-based shock, and any effect that would cause them to abandon a chosen course of action.

The Law of Flesh actively resists any attempt to reshape the bearer’s body against their will. Corruption, possession, and forced mutation are reduced by 75%.

The bearer may ignore the first lethal wound they receive in any engagement. The damage is absorbed by the Law of Flesh and regenerated over time.

Every Legendary Title I had ever gained was more broken than the last, and while this one did not have any flashy descriptions, my survivability had just shot upwards, and the threshold for me to battle Sovereigns had just lowered once more.

I flexed my newly healed hands, and I could feel the difference. The Adamantium Titan was more responsive, the Law of Flesh more stable. If I had this Title, I would have healed my wounds in two to five seconds instead of eleven, and that counted for a lot, coupled with all the ridiculous resistance that I had just gained... well, I wanted to fight.

My body was slowly rising in the air as I made this deliberation in my mind, and then I focused and rocketed upwards carried by a flash of blue lightning as I cast Stormsteps, and appeared a mile in the air where there was a cluster of lightning essence, and another thought and I appeared among the Sovereigns, hanging in freezing thin air that stank of scorched metal, with blue lightning leaking out of my eyes.

The moment I appeared, it was as if several mountains had been dropped over my shoulders, and I groaned in pain, and my body began to fall. I fought against this pressure and nearly shot up into the air as the pressure suddenly vanished, and seven figures stood in front of me.

There was a shift in the space itself, and it was as if several barriers had just appeared before me, while three of them were closest to me, as if they had more stakes in my protection, and I knew the mark on their robes before I could make out their faces, since a variant of that mark was on the Acolyte robe I was wearing.

It was a blue lidless eye, with four elemental crosses within, and being this close to them, I could see that these crosses were slightly different in all of their robes.

I blinked in realization that standing in front of me were the three Sovereigns of my Academy. I recognized Caldus from his red hair, and one of the crosses on his back burned with a red glow; the second was a woman with blue hair, with a blue elemental cross glowing on her sigil, and the last was an older man with a long white beard, but he had two glowing crosses on his sigil, one green and the other brown.

"It is okay, child; you are safe." His deep voice seemed to reach the depths of my soul, and I felt a warmth that almost made me want to weep. Even without any introduction, how could I not know Sovereign Halloway, the first Sovereign of Aldenmere.
