Kandarpaasura remained suspended in the air, barely moving as he carefully watched the flowers floating around him.

He slowly shifted his body to the side, hoping to find a gap large enough to slip through without disturbing anything.

The moment he moved one of his wings, even slightly, the surrounding air changed.

The effect was almost invisible.

A few of the white flowers nearest to him drifted several inches away from their original positions.

Kandarpaasura froze as his eyes followed them.

The flowers were so light that even the smallest disturbance in the air was enough to move them.

One brushed past another, causing both of them to slowly rotate in opposite directions.

Kandarpaasura’s teeth clenched.

"So little air can move them..."

He tried adjusting his position again, this time without flapping his wings.

His body drifted only a short distance before the natural current around him caused another group of flowers to shift.

One flower floated toward his shoulder.

He immediately stopped.

The flower hovered there for a moment before slowly drifting away.

Kandarpaasura took a deep breath.

He couldn’t remain suspended there forever.

The longer he stayed, the greater the possibility that some natural movement would cause the flowers to collide with one another.

Even his breathing seemed capable of disturbing the nearest ones.

His eyes darted around.

There were flowers everywhere.

No clear path. No safe direction.

And the ground below was still covered with the same dangerous plants.

Kandarpaasura’s frustration finally overcame his caution.

"Enough."

He lowered his body slightly.

If moving slowly was impossible, then he would do the opposite.

He would move so quickly that the flowers wouldn’t have time to surround him.

His muscles tightened.

His wings folded close to his body.

Kandarpaasura focused on a narrow opening between several floating flowers.

There was barely enough space.

But it was there.

"I only need one chance."

He bent his knees slightly in mid-air.

Then he released a sudden burst of his physical agility.

His body shot forward.

The surrounding air exploded outward from the force of his movement.

The flowers immediately scattered.

Several spun violently through the air.

Kandarpaasura’s eyes widened.

For one terrifying instant, the entire sky around him seemed to come alive as the flowers were pushed in every direction by his sudden movement.

"Move!"

He twisted his body and shot through the narrow gap.

One flower passed within inches of his face.

Another brushed against his shoulder.

Kandarpaasura continued accelerating.

Behind him, the flowers were still drifting from the pressure wave created by his burst of speed.

He had escaped the first cluster.

But then he heard it.

Pop.

Kandarpaasura’s eyes widened.

A flower behind him had been disturbed.

A tiny cloud of corrosive pollen began spreading through the air.

He looked forward.

More flowers were directly in his path.

His expression became grim.

His attempt to escape quickly had worked.

But the burst of air had also triggered the very danger he had been trying to avoid.

Kandarpaasura pushed himself forward with everything he had, weaving through the floating flowers as quickly as his agility allowed.

But the moment he disturbed one, another reacted, and soon several flowers around him began trembling in the air.

Pop!

A small burst of pollen escaped.

Then another flower moved.

Pop!

Then another.

Within seconds, the quiet sky above the valley erupted into a chain reaction.

Pop! Pop! Pop!

White clouds of corrosive pollen spread through the air behind Kandarpaasura.

He didn’t dare look back for more than a fraction of a second.

He simply kept moving, twisting his body whenever another flower drifted into his path.

One burst caught the edge of his wing.

He felt a sharp burning sensation immediately.

Kandarpaasura gritted his teeth but refused to slow down.

Another cloud brushed against his arm.

The skin beneath it began corroding almost instantly.

"Keep moving!"

He forced himself forward.

A third burst caught his leg.

Pain shot through him as the pollen ate into the flesh where it landed.

His wings were suffering the worst of it, with several patches already damaged and partially corroded.

But he kept going.

He finally spotted open ground beyond the field of floating flowers.

With one final burst of speed, Kandarpaasura threw himself toward it.

He crashed onto the ground and rolled several times before finally coming to a stop.

For several seconds, he simply lay there.

Breathing heavily.

His body ached.

His wings were damaged.

Parts of his arms and legs had been corroded where the pollen had touched him.

But he was alive.

Kandarpaasura slowly pushed himself upright.

Then he looked back as his eyes widened.

The entire section of forest he had just escaped from was covered in a thick mist.

But it wasn’t ordinary mist.

It was pollen.

Countless clouds of the corrosive substance had mixed together until the valley itself was almost completely hidden behind the pale haze.

Kandarpaasura stared at it in silence.

He could barely imagine what would have happened if he had remained inside for another few seconds.

His gaze dropped toward his damaged arm.

Even with his immense strength and durability, the pollen had eaten through his flesh.

If he had been trapped inside that cloud...

His entire body could have been reduced to nothing.

Kandarpaasura slowly clenched his fist.

"I almost died because of a flower."

He looked toward the forest with a mixture of anger and disbelief.

He had survived battles against powerful beings.

He had faced divine weapons.

He had deliberately challenged the gods.

Yet this forest had nearly killed him without even needing to attack him directly.

Kandarpaasura forced himself to stand.

His damaged wings trembled behind him.

He took one last look at the poisonous valley.

"If I had been one second slower..."

He didn’t finish the sentence.

There was no need.

The answer was obvious.

He would have been completely corroded.

Kandarpaasura wiped the remaining pollen from his arm and turned toward the deeper forest.

The golden horse was still somewhere ahead.

And despite the injuries he had suffered, he wasn’t about to give up the second stage.

Not when Devara was still somewhere in that forest, racing toward the same prize.

Meanwhile, Devara continued deeper into the forest, but after everything he had already witnessed, he was no longer moving with the confidence he had shown at the beginning of the trial.

Every step was deliberate.

He watched where he placed his feet, avoided brushing against unfamiliar plants and kept his eyes moving constantly between the trees, the grass and the branches above him.

The forest had already taught him one important lesson.

Nothing here should be judged by its appearance.

As he passed through another patch of pink grass, he suddenly noticed movement ahead.

Devara slowed down and crouched slightly behind a tree, peering through the leaves to see what was happening.

At first, he thought he was looking at a group of ordinary rabbits.

They were small, fluffy and almost ridiculously cute, hopping around the grass with their long ears twitching.

Their little bodies were covered in soft fur, and if Devara had encountered them anywhere else, he probably would have smiled and continued walking.

Then one of the rabbits opened its mouth.

Devara’s smile disappeared.

Its mouth was covered in blood.

The rabbit was chewing something.

Devara leaned slightly forward to get a better look.

It was a piece of flesh.

Another rabbit hopped beside it and began tearing into what appeared to be a bone.

The little creature held it between its paws and gnawed at it with surprising enthusiasm, while another rabbit was already biting into the remains of the strange beast lying in the grass.

Devara stared.

"Are those... rabbits?"

He watched as the entire group surrounded the unfortunate creature they had hunted down.

He couldn’t even identify what the animal had been because most of its body was already being torn apart.

The rabbits worked together.

Some chased the creature.

Others surrounded it.

And once it had been brought down, they all began feeding.

One particularly small rabbit sat peacefully beside the carcass, its cheeks puffed out while it chewed on a piece of flesh.

Devara blinked several times.

"I really need to stop assuming anything in this forest is harmless."

One of the rabbits suddenly lifted its head.

Its ears stood upright.

Devara froze.

The rabbit looked directly toward the tree where he was standing.

For a moment, their eyes met.

Devara remained perfectly still.

The rabbit continued staring at him while blood dripped from its mouth.

Then another rabbit noticed him.

Then another.

Within seconds, several pairs of eyes were turned in his direction.

Devara slowly raised his hands.

"All right. Nobody needs to get excited."

The rabbits stared.

One of them dropped the piece of bone it had been chewing.

Another slowly began hopping toward him.

Devara took one careful step backward.

The rabbit stopped.

He took another.

The rabbit’s nose twitched.

Devara narrowed his eyes.

’Please don’t tell me these things hunt people too.’

Behind the rabbits, the remains of their previous prey lay scattered across the pink grass.

Devara decided that whatever these creatures were, he had no intention of becoming their next meal.

He quietly stepped behind the tree and began moving away, taking care not to disturb the surrounding plants.

The rabbits watched him leave.

One of them tilted its head.

Then, apparently deciding that he wasn’t worth pursuing, it returned to the carcass.

Devara glanced back once.

The sight of those adorable little creatures happily chewing through flesh and bones remained burned into his mind.

He shook his head.

"Pink forest, poisonous flowers, soul-eating river creatures and carnivorous rabbits..."

He sighed.

"And I’m supposed to find a horse here."

He continued deeper into the forest, considerably more cautious than before.
