Marked by the Four Beast Lords After Transmigration
Chapter 107: Second MarkShen kissed her as if the last place patience lived in him had been Nia’s mouth.
The morning stayed quiet around them. The storm had passed, the door was sealed, and Kael’s footsteps had faded down the bath hallway long enough ago for the household to settle into the space he left behind. The bed felt enclosed, held safe by the cave, the shut door, and the certainty that no one would come through the cloth.
Nia held Shen by the front of his shirt and felt him trembling under her hands.
That undid her more than the weight of his body over hers.
Shen had always seemed controlled even when he was tender. Calm hands, quiet eyes, careful timing. He noticed before other people asked. He poured tea before thirst sharpened. He reached the right jar while Nia was still thinking through the flavor. Even last night, with his tail around her in bed and his mouth warm against hers, his care had shaped every movement.
Now his control broke slowly, and every broken piece still touched her gently.
His hand cupped the side of her face. His thumb moved once over her cheek, unsteady enough that she covered his hand with her own.
“Shen,” she whispered.
His eyes held hers.
She had never seen them like this. Bright, soft, hungry, almost pained with the effort of keeping all that wanting inside a body that had waited too long already.
“I’m here,” she said.
His breath left him unevenly.
Then he kissed her again.
Nia’s fingers slid into his hair as he lowered himself over her. The pale strands slipped loose around her hands, cool at first, then warm where her fingers held them. His mouth moved from hers to her cheek, her jaw, the line beneath her ear. He kissed her there until her back arched off the furs and his tail tightened around her legs in answer.
The coil held without trapping her.
She felt the difference in every inch of him.
Shen shifted, one hand braced beside her shoulder while the other moved to the tie of her dress. He paused with his fingers against the knot.
Nia looked up at him.
He waited.
Her throat tightened at that small, quiet care.
She nodded.
His fingers worked the tie loose.
He did not rush. The dress opened under his hands by degrees, not because he lacked urgency, but because he watched her through every movement. His mouth followed the path of the loosened fabric. Collarbone. Shoulder. The upper curve of her chest where her breath caught. He touched her as though he was learning her and already knew where reverence belonged.
Nia reached for him too.
His shirt came away less neatly. Her hands were not as steady as his. Shen helped her without smiling, without teasing, only lifting his arms when she needed him to and bending back down as soon as the cloth cleared his shoulders. His skin was cool for a moment where the air touched him, then warm beneath her palms.
She spread her hands over his chest.
He went still under her hands, caught by the feeling of her touch.
Nia drew him down before the stillness could hold too long. Their mouths met harder this time. Shen’s body came against hers, skin to skin, and the warmth of him slid through her so sharply that she broke the kiss with a quiet sound. He answered by pressing his forehead to hers and breathing with her until her fingers stopped clutching quite so hard at his shoulders.
Shen was gentle because the care in him did not disappear when desire took over. It only came closer.
His hand moved down her side, over the curve of her waist, then lower with a slow certainty that made her breath thin. He watched her face when his fingers found her. Nia’s eyes closed, and her head turned into the fur.
Shen kissed the side of her neck.
“Look at me,” he murmured.
The words were soft.
She opened her eyes.
His fingers moved again, and her body answered before she could hide it. Heat gathered low and deep, spreading until her legs shifted beneath the wrap of his tail. Shen’s expression changed with each breath she took, not triumphant, not smug, only focused and open and shaken by her response.
He kissed her mouth when pleasure made her gasp.
He swallowed the sound gently, then gave it back to her with another slow movement of his hand.
Nia clung to him.
Outside the bedroom, the mountain held steady. Somewhere far away, water moved through heated stone channels. The soft rush reminded her that Kael was still in the bath chamber, close enough to be part of the safety around them, far enough that this first belonged to Shen.
Shen’s mouth moved lower.
Nia’s breath caught harder.
His hair brushed her skin. His hands held her hips with careful strength. His tail loosened enough to let her move and then curled around one thigh, keeping her open beneath him without force. He kissed down her body with the same attention he gave everything that mattered: slowly, thoroughly, with no wasted motion and no hurry that asked her to bear more than she could.
By the time he rose over her again, Nia was trembling too.
Shen’s control had gone thin. She could see it in his arms, in the set of his mouth, in the way his tail flexed against the furs. He still paused.
“Nia.”
She touched his cheek. “Yes.”
His eyes searched hers.
She held his gaze and said it again. “Yes.”
Shen bent and kissed her as he settled between her thighs.
The first pressure made her fingers dig into his shoulders.
He stopped immediately.
Nia breathed through the stretch, forehead pressed against his, every part of her aware of him: his weight held carefully above her, his breath against her mouth, his hand at her hip, the tail coiled around her leg, the heat of him where their bodies joined.
Shen’s voice was rough. “Too much?”
She shook her head. “No.”
His jaw tightened.
Nia slid one hand into his hair and pulled him down for another kiss. “Do not stop.”
His eyes darkened.
He moved again, slow enough that the ache became fullness by degrees. Nia held onto him, breath breaking against his mouth as he entered her. Shen kissed her through it, pausing when her body tightened, murmuring her name against her lips, his hand smoothing along her side while he waited for her to soften around him.
When he was fully inside her, he went still.
Nia could feel him everywhere.
The room blurred for a moment. The furs beneath her. Shen’s hair around her face. His body trembling over hers. His tail tight around her thigh. Her own heartbeat pounding through her chest so hard that she could hear it in the silence between their breaths.
Shen lowered his face to her neck and breathed there.
Nia wrapped both arms around him.
For a while, they did not move. Shen kissed the side of her throat once, then again, soft enough that tears unexpectedly burned behind her eyes.
He felt the change.
His head lifted at once. “Nia?”
She shook her head and touched his mouth with her fingers. “I’m all right.”
His eyes moved over her face.
“I’m all right,” she said again.
Shen turned his head and kissed her fingertips. Then he moved.
Slowly at first.
Nia’s breath left her in a broken sound. Shen’s eyes nearly closed, but he kept watching her, his mouth parted, his control shaking every time her body drew him in. He did not take the rhythm from her. He found it with her, each movement deep and careful, his hips pressing into hers until warmth spread through her in rolling waves.
She held onto him harder.
Shen kissed her whenever her breath caught too sharply. Her mouth, her cheek, the corner of her jaw. His lips touched every place he could reach, as if kissing her kept him gentle. As if gentleness was not the absence of hunger but the way he chose to carry it.
Nia moved beneath him.
The sound Shen made then was low, almost helpless.
His tail tightened around her leg.
Pleasure gathered slowly and then all at once, deepening with each stroke until Nia could no longer keep her breathing even. Shen’s hand slid beneath her, lifting her closer. The angle changed. Her body clenched around him, and he stopped for half a breath, face pressed to her shoulder.
“Again,” she whispered.
He obeyed.
The rhythm deepened.
Nia’s head fell back into the furs. Shen’s mouth found the exposed line of her throat, then moved lower, kissing the dark skin over her collarbone and the upper curve of her chest. His breath came harder against her skin. His hand moved to her wrist.
Nia’s eyes opened.
He lifted her hand carefully, kissing the inside first. Once. Twice. His mouth lingered over her pulse while his body remained joined with hers, the slow movement of his hips making the kiss feel like part of the same act.
His eyes met hers over her wrist.
“Here?” he asked.
Nia’s throat tightened.
She nodded.
Shen’s fingers closed around her hand.
He moved inside her again, deeper this time, and Nia’s body tightened around him with a sudden, bright pull of pleasure that made her grip his shoulder with her free hand.
Shen lowered his mouth to her wrist.
The bite came with the next thrust.
Pain flashed clean and sharp through the pleasure.
Nia cried out.
Shen’s body shuddered over hers, but he held the bite, teeth sunk into the tender skin of her wrist while he moved inside her. The bond opened like heat under her heart. It rushed through her pulse, through the place his mouth held, through the deep joined place between them. The sharpness became warmth. The warmth became something alive.
Her chest burned.
Not with pain. With recognition.
Nia’s whole body arched into him.
Shen released her wrist with a broken sound and pressed his forehead to hers. The movement inside her lost its careful rhythm for the first time. His control fractured. His hand shook around hers. He moved deeper, faster, still trying to stay gentle even as the bond pulled at him from the inside.
Nia held his face between both hands.
“Shen,” she said.
His eyes opened.
The bond answered between them.
She felt it in the way his breath stopped, in the way his body trembled, in the stunned warmth that rushed through him and came back to her like a door opening inside her chest. Shen made a sound that was almost her name. His hand tightened around hers, and his mouth found hers again as if he could not bear to be separate from any part of her.
She did not look for proof. The bond was in his breath, in the pulse under her skin, in the way his tail locked around her in one long shuddering coil. It was in the heat beneath her heart and the aching fullness of his body joined with hers. It was in the way Shen kissed her, shaken and reverent and no longer waiting.
Pleasure crested through her, hot and bright, starting where he filled her and rushing outward until her fingers dug into his back and her voice broke against his shoulder. Shen followed a breath later, body trembling as he pressed deep and held there, his mouth against her neck, his tail wrapped around her as if every part of him needed to know she was still there.
For a while, there was only breath.
Shen did not move off her.
Nia did not want him to.
His weight rested carefully, most of it still held on his arms though she could feel the tremor running through him. His hair covered part of her face. His mouth stayed against her skin, not kissing now, just there, warm and open over the place where her pulse still raced.
The bond hummed beneath her heart.
Nia’s hand slid up his back.
Shen shivered and drew in a rough breath.
His face lifted from her neck. His eyes were wet-bright, startled by himself and by her and by the warmth moving between them. Nia touched his cheek with trembling fingers.
He turned into her palm at once.
“I’m here,” she whispered.
His eyes closed.
His tail tightened, then loosened as if he had to remind himself not to hold too hard.
“I know,” he said, voice low and unsteady.
He kissed her, slow and careful, then pressed his mouth to her wrist where he had bitten her. The skin was tender under his lips. Nia felt the mark there without looking, felt the closed ache and the warmth threaded through it.
“Does it hurt?” he asked.
“A little.”
His mouth touched the inside of her wrist again. “I’m sorry.”
She lifted his face with her free hand. “Don’t be.”
Shen looked at her for a long breath, then kissed her again.
This one was softer, full of what the bond had already said between them. Nia held him through it, her fingers moving over the nape of his neck, his shoulders, the long line of his back. His skin was warm now, warmer than she expected from him, and every place she touched seemed to answer through the new bond.
He finally shifted enough to ease his weight from her.
Nia made a small sound at the loss of him inside her before she could stop it.
Shen stilled immediately.
Her face warmed.
His expression softened, and his tail wrapped around her hips before the cool air could reach her. He gathered her into his arms and rolled them carefully until she lay against his chest, tucked close beneath the furs.
She heard his heartbeat, fast at first, then slower beneath her cheek.
His hand moved over her back, over her braids, along her arm to her wrist. He lifted it again with care and kissed the bite until her fingers relaxed against his chest.
No one spoke for a while.
The mountain beyond the cloth remained quiet. The bed held the warmth of their bodies, the heavy furs, the scent of Shen’s clean herbs and Kael’s lingering warmth. Nia lay against him and let the new bond settle into places she had not known were waiting.
When footsteps finally sounded in the hallway, Shen’s arm tightened around her.
Nia turned her face slightly toward the bedroom cloth.
Kael stopped outside.
“Can I come in?”
The question warmed something behind her eyes.
Nia looked up at Shen.
His gaze was soft, open, still bright from bonding. He nodded.
“Yes,” Nia called, voice rougher than she expected.
Kael pushed the cloth aside and entered.
He had loosened his hair in the bath chamber, and the damp curls around his face belonged to the man who had left them the room they needed. His gaze moved over Nia first, checking. Then Shen. Then the furs wrapped around both of them, Shen’s tail beneath the edge, the bite at Nia’s wrist where Shen still held her hand.
He came to the bed slowly.
Nia shifted enough for the furs to cover more of her, though Shen’s tail did most of it before she could reach them.
Kael saw the movement and his mouth softened faintly.
He sat on the edge of the bed and took Nia’s wrist with careful fingers. He did not touch the bite directly. His thumb brushed below it, steady.
“Clean,” he said.
“Bond closed it,” Shen answered.
Kael nodded.
His gaze moved to Nia’s face. “Good?”
Nia nodded.
Her throat felt too full for anything longer.
Kael bent and kissed her forehead.
Then he looked at Shen.
For a breath, neither man spoke.
Kael reached out and placed his palm briefly over Shen’s shoulder. The gesture landed with more weight than words would have, and Shen bowed his head slightly, his hand still holding Nia’s.
Kael’s thumb moved once below the bite on her wrist.
“Bath,” he said.
Nia’s face warmed.
Shen was already moving.
He wrapped Nia in the fur before Kael finished standing, careful around her wrist and slower where her body answered with soreness. Then he lifted her from the bed as if there had never been any question of whether he would carry her.
Nia’s arms went around his neck.
His tail remained wrapped around one of her legs beneath the fur, a hidden coil that made her look down with warm disbelief.
Shen looked entirely unashamed.
Kael took the extra cloths from the low shelf and led the way to the bath chamber.
Warm steam met them before they reached it, scented faintly with bark, clean stone, and the floral edge of one of Shen’s softening herbs. The bath was full. Heat rose from the water in slow clouds. Lamps glowed low along the wall. The stone floor held enough warmth that the air itself seemed to breathe against Nia’s skin.
Shen carried her down the steps and into the water.
He did not set her on her feet until the heat had closed around both of them. Even then, his arms stayed beneath her, supporting her as she sank into the bath with a soft, unsteady breath.
Kael entered after them.
The water shifted around his body, rising along the stone edge in slow ripples. He came close on Nia’s other side, and the bath made room the way the bed had learned to.
Shen settled behind her first, his chest against her back, his arms around her middle. His tail slid beneath the water and curled around her thigh with immediate certainty. Kael sat facing them at a slight angle, one of his legs brushing hers under the water, his hand closing around hers above the surface.
For a while, none of them did anything more than sit.
Heat eased the deep ache in her body by degrees. Nia leaned back against Shen and held Kael’s hand. The water moved softly whenever Shen breathed. Kael’s thumb rubbed slow circles over her knuckles. Shen’s mouth touched the side of her neck, once, then again, barely more than warmth.
Nia closed her eyes.
“Better?” Kael asked.
“Yes.”
Shen kissed the place beneath her ear. “Tell me if anything hurts.”
“I will.”
His arms tightened slightly, then softened.
Kael reached for the water bowl on the ledge and poured warm water slowly over her shoulder. Shen guided her braids aside before the water caught in them too heavily. Their hands worked around each other without speech, Kael rinsing the sweat from her skin, Shen supporting the weight of her hair.
Nia let her head tip back against Shen’s shoulder.
His mouth touched her temple, the side of her hair, then her neck again.
The kisses were slower now, but not distant.
Kael watched, his gaze steady, then leaned forward and kissed Nia’s knuckles where he held her hand. His mouth moved to the inside of her wrist beneath the bite, careful not to press the tender skin.
Nia’s breath trembled.
Shen’s arms closed around her.
Kael lifted his eyes to Shen over her hand.
Nothing sharp moved between them.
Shen reached for the tie at the end of Nia’s braids.
“May I?”
Nia nodded.
His fingers moved with immediate care.
He worked slowly, separating the braids one by one and supporting the weight of her hair as water loosened it. Kael shifted closer to help keep the strands from dragging beneath the surface. Shen glanced once at the movement, then continued. Nia felt his mouth touch her hair between sections, a kiss pressed into the wet, textured strands before he eased them apart.
Her throat tightened.
He noticed anyway.
“Pulling?”
“No.”
Shen’s hands stilled.
She turned enough to look at him. “It feels good.”
His expression softened.
Kael poured more warm water over the loosened sections, careful not to splash her face. Shen worked the cleanser through her hair with slow palms, following the texture instead of dragging through it, lifting and supporting each section before smoothing the herb-scented foam through. His fingers massaged her scalp in small circles that made her eyes close again.
Nia’s body relaxed in increments.
The ache remained, but the water gentled it. Shen’s tail held her under the surface. Kael’s knee rested against hers. The bond warmed low under her heart, quiet now, settling into the rhythm of Shen’s breath against her back.
Shen kissed the side of her neck.
Then the damp hair near her shoulder.
Then the curve where her neck met the top of her back.
Nia reached for Kael without opening her eyes.
His hand found hers at once.
She held both of them that way, Shen behind her, Kael before her, while water moved around their bodies.
When Shen rinsed the cleanser from her hair, Kael helped gather the heavy wet length so it would not pull. Water streamed down Nia’s back and over Shen’s hands. He kissed each section after rinsing it, soft touches that made no sense as a task and perfect sense as him.
Nia turned her head enough to kiss his jaw.
Shen paused.
She kissed him again, higher, near the corner of his mouth.
He turned fully and met her.
The kiss was slow in the bath, different from the bed. Sated and tender, but not empty of want. His wet hand cradled the back of her head, careful with her loosened hair, while his tail tightened beneath the water. Nia tasted warmth, bark, and Shen’s breath.
Kael’s hand slid to the back of her neck when Shen released her.
He turned her gently and kissed her too, slower, grounding the softness Shen had stirred into something broader and steadier. Nia held his wrist while Shen pressed his mouth to her shoulder from behind.
The bath settled around all three of them.
No one hurried to leave.
Shen finished rinsing her hair and gathered the heavy wet length over one shoulder. Kael rubbed his thumb along her knuckles. Steam curled between them. Nia leaned back against Shen’s chest, tired and full and held in a warmth that seemed to have no edges.
Shen’s tail remained wrapped beneath the water.
Kael’s hand stayed around hers.
Nia closed her eyes while Shen kissed her damp hair again and Kael held her hand, and no one asked the morning to move faster.
