’He’s this obedient?’

Anne Sutton wasn’t quite used to it.

Even though they had been out all day, Nathan Fawcett wasn’t tired at all. He even took a cold shower before coming out.

When he came out, Anne Sutton had already settled into bed.

She was leaning against the pillow, holding her phone, the light from the screen illuminating her face.

He stood to the side, watching her.

Sensing his gaze, Anne Sutton looked up and met his eyes. "What are you looking at me for?"

Nathan Fawcett said, "Why aren’t you asleep yet?"

"I’m not very sleepy," Anne Sutton said. "Maybe it’s because I haven’t been out for fun in a long time."

’I can’t even remember the last time I was this happy!’

’Right now, I’m truly happy!’

’It’s like all the pressure from before is gone!’

If she had come here for the child’s sake before, Anne Sutton was now starting to genuinely enjoy life here.

Nathan Fawcett said, "Then get some sleep."

He lay down beside her and habitually reached out an arm to pull her close.

This was as far as he would go, since she wouldn’t let him touch her otherwise.

As long as she was in his arms, he could sleep peacefully.

But Anne Sutton, lying in his arms, found she couldn’t fall asleep.

’A man like this, lying right next to me...’

’I’m a normal woman, you know?’

Her mind was a mess of chaotic thoughts, and she couldn’t find a comfortable position.

She shifted a few times in his arms.

Nathan Fawcett said, "Don’t move around."

He’d just managed to suppress his own urges with a cold shower.

Anne Sutton said, "Can you let me go?"

Nathan Fawcett said, "I’m just holding you. I’m not doing anything to you."

"But how am I supposed to sleep like this?"

"Didn’t you sleep just fine yesterday?"

"..."

She was speechless at this man!

...

With Stella Shields gone, Anne Sutton’s days at the Linden Family’s home became much more peaceful.

Without Stella Shields stirring up trouble behind the scenes, Anna Linden didn’t target her as much either.

Because she had mentioned she wanted to go home for the Spring Festival, Chloe Chase had arranged for her to have time off.

On the day she was to head home, Nathan Fawcett drove her to the airport to see her off.

Seeing that he had come to see her off personally, Anne Sutton said, "You really didn’t have to. I would have been fine on my own."

He stood beside her as she sat in a chair, his gaze gentle as he looked at her. "It’s fine. I don’t know when you’ll be back."

The Spring Festival holiday was long, and Anne Sutton had specifically requested a few extra days off because she had her own business to attend to back home.

She said, "I’ll be back when work officially starts again. I can’t be with you and Ian for the Spring Festival, so happy Spring Festival in advance. Oh, right, this is the red envelope I prepared for him."

She took it out of her pocket and handed it to Nathan Fawcett. "Remember to give it to him for me during the festival."

Nathan Fawcett glanced at the fingers clutching the red envelope but didn’t take it. Instead, he leaned in and wrapped his arms around her.

Anne Sutton was surprised by his hug.

Fortunately, everyone at the airport was busy with their own affairs.

No one would pay any mind to a simple hug like this.

...

Anne Sutton looked at the man and said, "Alright, it’s about time. You can let go now."

Nathan Fawcett released her and said, "Call me if anything comes up."

Anne Sutton nodded. "I will."

She picked up her things and said to Nathan Fawcett, "I’m heading off then. Goodbye."

For some reason, she was reminded of the time she saw him off in Westhaven. Back then, she thought they would never see each other again, and her heart had been filled with sorrow.

Now, he was just seeing her off for the new year, but when she turned back to look at this man, an indescribable feeling welled up inside her.

’Why is every day with him so happy?’

’So happy that I’m already reluctant to leave him!’

Nathan Fawcett stood to the side, watching her. He saw her walk away, then turn back, and asked, "Did you forget something?"

Anne Sutton came closer, and without a word, she stood on her tiptoes and kissed him on the cheek.

The kiss was light, but... she was the one who had initiated it.

Nathan Fawcett looked at the woman, and as if recalling something, his eyes deepened.

After kissing him, Anne Sutton didn’t dare to look him in the eye and walked past him with her head down.

Butler Walters, standing far off to the side, watched this scene with a faint smile.

...

After Anne Sutton passed through security, she could feel her heart still pounding.

’Maybe this is what it feels like to like someone!’

’I really do want to be with him!’

...

When she arrived back in Westhaven, Charles Prescott—who had somehow gotten word of her arrival—had sent someone to pick her up.

Anne Sutton got in the car, not bothering to find another ride.

The company was hers now; Charles Prescott worked for her. So the car he sent was a company car anyway.

In the car, the person sent to pick her up looked at Anne Sutton and said, "You must be tired, Chairwoman."

Anne Sutton asked, "Where are you planning on taking me?"

"President Prescott said he’s arranged for dinner tonight. We’re to go eat before we take you home."

"That won’t be necessary," Anne Sutton said. "I’m not hungry, and I don’t plan on eating."

"Your family will be there too." It seemed Charles Prescott had anticipated her refusal and had arranged everything.

Hearing that her family was involved, Anne Sutton had no choice but to change her mind.

She followed the driver to a private room. Upon entering, she saw Charles Prescott sitting inside, with his assistant, Henry Underwood, standing beside him.

Henry Underwood had previously been demoted to a lower-level position, but now Charles had called him back.

After all, for Charles, Henry Underwood was more convenient to have around.

Seeing Anne Sutton, Henry Underwood greeted her, "Hello, Chairwoman."

Times had changed. Now, even back in Westhaven, Anne Sutton no longer had to fear Charles Prescott as she once did.

She held all the power.

Charles Prescott asked, "You must be tired."

"Didn’t you say my family was here?" Anne Sutton said. "You weren’t lying to me, were you?"

Charles Prescott looked at Henry Underwood, who said, "They’ve just arrived downstairs."

Hearing this, Anne Sutton wasn’t in a hurry. A moment later, she saw Sharon Sutton and Mrs. Sutton arrive.

Seeing her mother, Anne Sutton said, "Mom, what are you doing out? Weren’t you in the hospital?"

Charles Prescott said, "Your mother is in the hospital every day; it must be stifling. There’s no harm in bringing her out for a meal. The doctor said it was fine."

Anne Sutton looked at Charles Prescott. "Why did you call me here?"

Charles Prescott said, "It’s just a family meal. I just called you over to welcome you back. What’s the big deal?"

Anne Sutton stared at the man. Sharon Sutton, sitting beside them, looked at Anne and said, "Sis, you’re finally back!"

Seeing her aggrieved expression, Anne Sutton asked, "Who’s been bullying you?"

"Who else?" Sharon Sutton said. "It’s Dad! He brought that Yvonne Evans home! We have no place in the house anymore! Every time I go back, I have to walk on eggshells. But with you gone... we’re completely helpless."

Hearing this, Anne Sutton’s expression darkened.

When Charles Prescott saw Anne Sutton look at him, he said, "I wanted to do something about it, but your father... well, you know how he is now. He’s using you to hold power over me, so there’s nothing I can do."

Anne Sutton turned to her mother and said, "Mom, are you feeling any better?"
