Chapter 195: Chapter 149: Iron-blooded Methods
She had just scrambled to her feet, blood still trickling from the corner of her mouth. When she saw what was happening, she charged forward like a madwoman.
She aimed a vicious, lightning-fast palm strike at the back of the one-eyed man’s neck, putting every ounce of her strength into the blow.
The one-eyed man didn’t even turn his head.
He swatted back with his other hand as if shooing away a fly.
Sun Fan’s palm landed on his forearm, and it was like striking an iron plate. The impact sent a numbing jolt up her entire arm. Before she could even change tactics, his hand had already clamped around her wrist and flung her aside.
THUD!
Sun Fan slammed into the wall again and slid to the floor, spitting another mouthful of blood onto the ground.
"Xiaofan!" Sun Beixi screamed, his eyes looking as if they would split from their sockets.
The one-eyed man spun him around to face him.
He looked at Sun Beixi’s contorted face and suddenly grinned.
"Quite interesting. A good-for-nothing and a little slip of a girl actually dare to challenge me."
He hoisted Sun Beixi up and smashed him hard against the wall.
THUD!
Sun Beixi’s back slammed against the wall, making the entire structure tremble. He collapsed to the ground.
Dust sifted down from the cracks in the brickwork, settling on his head and shoulders.
He could barely open his eyes. Blood streamed from his forehead, smearing his face before dripping from his chin onto his collar.
The one-eyed man loomed over him, his face devoid of expression. "Trying to be a hero and uphold justice? How admirable."
He slowly leaned down, staring into Sun Beixi’s eyes, and said, enunciating every word, "But playing hero comes at a price. I can’t be bothered to waste any more time on you. Tell me, where did you hide it? Where is the item?"
Sun Beixi gasped for breath, glaring at him and forcing out each word. "In... your... dreams."
The one-eyed man didn’t get angry. Instead, he laughed and nodded. "Alright. You’re a tough one. I like that."
He reached out with his other hand and gripped Sun Beixi’s right wrist.
Then he squeezed. Hard.
Sun Beixi’s face contorted in an instant.
His bones were being crushed, inch by inch. It was a pain that bored its way out from the very marrow.
He clenched his jaw, refusing to scream, a strangled, guttural sound escaping his throat.
Sun Fan pushed herself up against the wall and staggered forward. "Let him go!"
But she only made it halfway before her legs suddenly gave out, and she collapsed to her knees.
Her injuries were too severe. It felt as if those last two blows had violently shifted her internal organs. Now, every movement felt like a knife scraping her from the inside.
Sun Fan knelt on the floor, forced to watch helplessly as Sun Beixi was tortured. Tears welled in her eyes, but she bit her lip, refusing to make a sound.
The one-eyed man glanced at her, then turned his attention back to Sun Beixi.
"Your sister is quite pretty. Tell me, if I were to strip her naked and toss her into the Golden Gate Sect, do you think you’d be more willing to talk?"
A tremor ran through Sun Beixi’s entire body.
His eyes, completely bloodshot, were fixed on the one-eyed man like a wild beast caught in a trap.
"You... wouldn’t... dare..."
"I wouldn’t dare?" The one-eyed man laughed. "Go ask that Zheng fellow if there’s anything I wouldn’t dare to do."
He released Sun Beixi’s wrist, straightened up, and looked down at him, his gaze turning icy.
"I’ll ask you one last time. Where is the item?"
Sun Beixi leaned against the wall, gasping for air.
His whole body was shaking, whether from pain or fear, it was impossible to tell.
But his expression remained the same. "I... don’t... know..."
The one-eyed man stared at him for two seconds.
Then, he nodded.
"Fine. You’ve got guts."
His last three words were ice-cold. The one-eyed man had completely lost his patience. He reached out, intending to grab Sun Beixi by the throat.
But just then—
CRACK!
With the sudden sound of shattering stone, a hand shot out from the side.
It clamped down on the one-eyed man’s face, completely out of nowhere.
The five fingers tightened their grip.
The one-eyed man’s entire body went rigid.
For a moment, time itself seemed to freeze.
In the fading light, the hand looked as if it were cast from steel as it brutally pressed down on the one-eyed man’s face.
A familiar, calm voice sounded in his ear.
"You’re pretty arrogant, aren’t you?"
