Chapter 6698: The Truth
“What are your current thoughts, Chu Feng?” Eggy asked. “I want to hear the truth.”
There was a brief pause before Chu Feng replied, “Eggy, it might be time for us to put our lives on the line.”
He had wanted to ask her if she blamed him for putting them in this plight, but Eggy interjected before he could pose that question, “Let’s do it then. We’ll teach your loser grandfather a lesson! You use your Bloodline Rampage, and I’ll use my means! We’ll let him know that he’s no match for us even if he obtains God’s Era’s power by some stroke of luck!”
She looked excited as if she had wanted to do this for a long time. She didn’t fear death.
Chu Feng felt heartened yet apologetic at the same time.
She had always supported him, even when she wasn’t fond of how he staked his life to protect his family and friends. She was willing to fight alongside him, even if it meant death.
“Hm?”
Chu Feng narrowed his eyes.
The siphoning of his Netherworld Embryo’s energy shouldn’t have had an effect on him, but all of a sudden, there was a change in the formation, and he felt a powerful force attempting to pull his consciousness from his body.
The force was coming from the space where his Netherworld Embryo’s energy was flowing toward, where the treasure medium was hidden.
Chu Feng tried to resist the force, but it was to no avail.
His consciousness was dragged into a dark palace. He noticed Chen Hui cultivating in a blood pool with closed eyes, as well as the severely injured Dongfang Hansong, whose face remained pale even though his body had recovered.
Dongfang Hansong had formed a peculiar hand seal and was channeling a formation. Many treasures were placed neatly around him, and they, together with the palace, made up a huge formation.
This formation was the culprit that dragged Chu Feng’s consciousness out of his body.
Concentrated surges of blood-red auras were continuously flowing into the palace. They were the energy siphoned away from Chu Feng’s Netherworld Embryo.
Sensing Chu Feng’s consciousness, Dongfang Hansong opened his eyes to look at Chu Feng. He spoke with a mocking voice, “Young master, you have worked hard.”
Chu Feng was confused. Young master? He thought that Dongfang Hansong had misrecognized him as someone else, but his consciousness looked identical to him. There was no room for a mistake.
“Young master?” Xiahou Jue murmured under his breath in confusion.
His presence was completely concealed after consuming Baili Xukong’s pill, allowing him to follow Dongfang Hansong all the way here without the latter noticing.
“Is Dongfang Hansong so grievously wounded that his eyes are failing him? That soul entity clearly belongs to Chu Feng, so why is he calling him ‘young master’? Who does ‘young master’ even refer to? Does the conservative faction have a young master?” Xiahou Jue mumbled.
Dongfang Hansong changed his hand seal, and the Netherworld Embryo’s energy in the palace surged toward Chu Feng’s consciousness.
“This is a forbidden method. He’s using this formation to gather the Netherworld Embryo’s energy inside Chu Feng’s soul entity before transferring it elsewhere. He plans to transfer all this energy into Chen Hui’s body! Dongfang Hansong does covet Chu Feng’s Netherworld Embryo!” Xiahou Jue exclaimed to himself.
Having seen through Dongfang Hansong’s ploy, Xiahou Jue was prepared to leave the palace and report this matter to Baili Xukong.
“What are you planning?” Chu Feng asked.
“You’re already a dead man, young master. Think of it as making one last contribution to the Netherworld Sect on behalf of Lord Netherworld Master,” Dongfang Hansong said.
Xiahou Jue froze in place.
“What are you saying?” Chu Feng asked.
“Heh...” Dongfang Hansong smiled.
He took out a pill and popped it into Chen Hui’s mouth. The latter immediately regained consciousness, but the first thing he did was to lurch in shock.
“Chu Feng?” Chen Hui stared at Chu Feng’s soul entity in disbelief.
“That’s right, Hui’er. That is Chu Feng’s consciousness. His body is not too far away, but that isn’t important now. If you want to become the Netherworld Sect’s future, you have to consume the energy of Chu Feng’s Netherworld Embryo. I designed this formation for the Seven Realms Sacred Mansion to accomplish this task,” Dongfang Hansong said.
“Lord Netherworld Marshal, I...”
Chen Hui looked conflicted. Due to his ties with Song Yun, he couldn’t bring himself to hurt Chu Feng, even if it was Dongfang Hansong’s order.
“Hui’er, your unnecessary kindness resembles that of your mother,” Dongfang Hansong said.
“My mother? Lord Netherworld Marshal, do you know my mother?” Chen Hui anxiously asked.
He had grown up in the Netherworld Sect as an orphan, knowing nothing about his parents. The mention of his mother sparked his curiosity.
“Of course. I am your father,” Dongfang Hansong revealed.
Chu Feng narrowed his eyes. He understood what was going on now.
Xiahou Jue’s mouth fell agape.
However, the one who reacted the most intensely to the revelation was Chen Hui. His eyes widened in shock, and his mouth grew so big that one could stick a fist into it.
“Lord Netherworld Marshal, you mustn’t joke about such stuff,” Chen Hui said.
“I’m not joking, Hui’er. You are my son! Your name should have been Dongfang Hui, and I have been nurturing you as the Netherworld Sect’s future leader. I wanted to temper your character so that you don’t end up like Baili Zilin, which was why I hid your identity. You should understand where I am coming from, right?” Dongfang Hansong asked.
“This... I...”
Chen Hui felt like his head was about to explode. He would have never dared imagine something like that to be possible. In hindsight, Dongfang Hansong had taken great care of him in private without anyone questioning it.
This gave credence to Dongfang Hansong’s words.
