I’ll have you know that torturing me will get you nothing; I am, however, very weak to pleasure. Wink wink. She pressed her tongue against his thumb, letting her lips wrap around it. Natasha leaned back, pressing her ass in his pelvic area. I’ve always been curious what it’s like to ride a bull; it feels like it’ll be a fascinating experience.

"You are nasty." He pushed her away at last, shaking his hand to remove her saliva.

"I’ll take that as a compliment." Natasha lightly massaged her jaw with a light smile, trying to hide the drop of cold sweat going down her neck.

’Well, I at least got something out of her.’ John was thankful he had Haki before meeting her, or his body might’ve obliged to her invitation.

Sex was an instinct a Hanma would indulge in when he wanted. But John stayed John and didn’t fully adopt Hanma’s urges thanks to Haki.

And as someone who knew Natasha’s life leading up to this point, he didn’t want to engage in a physical relationship with her.

"You could’ve had the home run, but too bad," Natasha smirked.

"Really? Where did I stop?" He asked dryly.

"Just short of third base." She shrugged because the ball was in her hand. "You can still reach the base if you choose to run."

"Think I’ll pass."

As much as Natasha weaponized her own body, there was this brief moment of reluctance and rejection before she acted, a moment she herself wasn’t privy to. No normal person would ever catch it; even those with superpowered senses might fail, but John had grown more accustomed to reading people thanks to the Hanma bloodline and Haki.

After noticing that, any signs of attraction he might’ve had for this beautiful spy died down. As someone with Haki, he became uncomfortable watching a person go against their mind with every action they took without ever knowing it.

’Even thinking about it like this is weird. Someone, pity me please.’ Regardless if anyone felt pity for him or not, he did feel some for Natasha.

’I was sure he would pounce on me, but what’s with those eyes?’ During her missions, she had faced eyes filled with various emotions.

From lust, love, anger, hatred, release, elation, fear, anguish, and even wonder. But no one had ever looked at her this way in her entire life.

And because of that, she couldn’t name it.

What did he figure out about her to look at her that way?

It felt like a question that would keep her up at night, and it really was that type of question. Even as she went to the safe house and took a shower, her mind kept drifting to that question, to his eyes.

In the end, she looked at the video she had recorded, setting up a camera in advance. She paused on his expression and sat there in silence. But there was only one thing she could think of while looking at the bright monitor for hours.

’Should I just ask him?’ That was an option, but not the best one.

"He’ll just tell me to figure it out myself since it is my job." Natasha let out a dry chuckle.

After a few more hours of work, she stared at the yellow medicine bottle in her hand. The words on the label grew bigger with each second until they covered her entire view.

Estrogen pills.

There was no need to eat these; her body was already altered to not rely on them. But she took the prescribed dosage and sat under the dim light of the lamp, her face in her hands as the slight headache came.

"I am running out again." Making an appointment under an alias that was off records, Natasha went to sleep with that slight sense of nausea rolling through her stomach.

Ever since seeing that face in the mirror, Norman had stopped going in that bathroom.

That helped him, but only for a day. Soon he could see that face on the dinner table, staring at him from the soup, but once he blinked it was gone. In the reflection of the glass table, in the ceramic plate. Even on the mop floor, that face followed him.

It had reached a point where Norman had locked himself in his room after he smeared all shiny surfaces with paint. All of them aside from the computer screen he kept turned on 24/7.

’This is just a temporary measure.’ He slumped into the chair with a heavy head.

He had read Chapter 9 of Fight Club, watching Project Mayhem take place. A frown sat on his face as Tyler and his group started to get more out of hand. Even running a full operation to get their hands on the police commissioner who wanted to catch them for their acts of terrorism.

’Now he doesn’t want the law to work as intended?’ This kept getting worse, because it started to feel like a car that lost control.

Not because of a bad driver, because the driver didn’t touch the wheel.

"Let go."

The voice in his head and Tyler’s words matched. Tyler confirmed that he had burned the Narrator’s house to teach him a lesson.

But Norman’s mind was focused on the choice as Tyler let go of the wheel. The voice in his head went silent as the Narrator followed the advice and decided to let go, ending in a crash that anyone could see miles away.

"See? That is the correct answer."

Norman closed his eyes for a moment and took a deep breath. The Narrator had allowed himself to be influenced because he trusted Tyler.

However, he didn’t trust this voice one bit. He didn’t even know where it came from, or if this was just a nightmare.

’I am not listening to this voice.’ He ate steak and fruits from a wooden plate to follow the changed diet. His sleeping habits had improved, and he even started to do basic exercises aside from going out every night.

But among all of them, he kept reading, hoping that the voice in his head would vanish just like it had appeared.

However, the voice that was calling out to him started to change; no, it only asked for one thing.

"Norman, I can fix your problems, just let go. Let go. Let Go! JUST LET GO!"

It kept getting louder with each word, to the point that he wanted to rupture his eardrums. Still, he knew that wouldn’t help. This voice was in his head.

Meditating helped little; if anything, it made it worse. Now Norman was able to picture this voice; it looked just like him, but with that uncanny grin.

’Collapse of modern society, so that is his end goal.’ Norman read the last line of the Chapter with a frown.

Destroying the system, as good as it sounded, wouldn’t help. Because the same system would take its place with a new mask.

Humans didn’t create a society based on power and money because they wanted to; it formed because that was the only way this civilization could grow from the seed called instinct.

And a Human’s most basic instinct was to weaponize everything it found. The modern society was the most apt representation of that, a cradle where that seed thrived.

Tyler had asked the correct questions, but had landed on the most extreme answer.

"That’s why you should listen to me."

Norman ignored the voice and continued to read. Chapter 10 came with an affirmation of his thoughts.

Bob was brought in with a bullet through the head. To Norman, Bob was important because it fully drove the point of ’reclaiming yourself’. The character that told him that it wasn’t too late to get yourself together, in the story’s context.

And his death just proved that Tyler’s way wasn’t it. If that wasn’t the correct way, then what was?

Norman continued to read as the Narrator followed Tyler’s trail through flight tickets and finding more fight clubs in every city. That was until a bar owner recognized him and called him Tyler Durden.

’Wait... it cannot be...’ There was a sense of dread settling over Norman as the Narrator, or Tyler, had to face the one he’d been calling Tyler this whole time.

’D.I.D? No, that makes sense. It makes sense but...’ He massaged his temple with a trembling hand, thinking over the cause for D.I.D, its symptoms, and what it could do.

The story had dragged him so deep into the Narrator’s head that he never saw this one coming.

That was when the line about not mentioning him in front of Marla made sense.

Tyler and the Narrator weren’t the same; at least that was how it looked from the latter’s point of view because the former was his ideal version of himself. But the way the latter started to transform because of the former made sense; Tyler, the alter ego, wanted complete control over the real body.

And now, the Narrator’s words and the voice in his head started to coincide.

"We are the same person."
