Half an hour later, Luke walked out of the S.H.I.E.L.D. safehouse and looked at the bustling streets of Los Angeles. It was hard to imagine that this 'City of Angels' harbored such vile creatures just beneath its glamorous surface.

Before leaving, Coulson had briefed him on the standard traits, habits, and hunting methods of vampires.

They were indeed weak to ultraviolet light, silver, and garlic. Honestly, it sounded like cliché folklore that even a child would know, but it was apparently completely accurate. Luke guessed that humanity's leaders had intentionally spread those myths centuries ago to ensure the general public had at least some basic knowledge on how to defend themselves.

According to Coulson, vampires were strictly nocturnal hunters, and the disappearances usually clustered around popular nightlife districts. Seeing as the sun was still up, Luke decided to find a hotel and take a nap first.

He booked a room, slept until nightfall, and then asked the concierge where the most popular bars in the area were.

Walking down the neon-lit streets, Luke had to admit that the LA nightlife was far more vibrant and hedonistic than New York's. However, given the context, the entire scene felt completely artificial to him—like a carefully curated hunting ground designed to lure prey out into the open.

As he walked, he subtly dispersed his Shadow Ninjas into the surrounding darkness. Thanks to his recent stat upgrade, his instantaneous summoning and control radius had expanded to an impressive 160 meters. Within this radius, his ninjas could effortlessly blend into the shadows and keep pace with him. 2

In a world completely invisible to normal humans, highly agile shadow assassins leaped effortlessly across the rooftops. Their 16x superhuman physicals allowed them to easily clear twenty-meter gaps in a single bound, maintaining complete aerial superiority over the bustling streets below.

As Luke approached the bar district, he received a mental ping from one of his scouts. He seamlessly turned down a dark alleyway.

At the end of the alley, a pale-skinned man was holding a woman in a tight embrace, his face buried deep in the crook of her neck. To a casual observer, it looked like a passionate, drunken make-out session that was about to escalate.

But the heavy, coppery stench of blood in the air—a smell Luke had grown accustomed to during his time in Hell's Kitchen—told a very different story.

"Lift your head," Luke ordered coldly.

The man paused. He slowly lifted his head, locking eyes with Luke. A cruel, mocking smile spread across his face, as if amused by this foolish human interrupting his meal.

His bloodstained lips parted, revealing a set of razor-sharp fangs. With casual indifference, the vampire tossed the rapidly cooling corpse of the woman onto the dirty pavement.

As the vampire took a slow step toward Luke, a sickening transformation occurred. The fresh blood acted like a stimulant. The man began to tremble violently, like an addict getting a fix. His irises shifted to a sickly, glowing green, his ears elongated into pointed tips, and his fingernails rapidly extended into jagged, bone-white claws.

"Did your mother ever tell you that you're incredibly ugly right now? Like, 'too ugly to recognize' ugly?" Luke asked, completely ignoring the monster's terrifying transformation. He leaned against the brick wall, intentionally insulting the creature. 3

Already driven into a semi-feral state by the bloodlust, the vampire completely snapped at the blatant disrespect from his 'food'.

With a feral hiss, the vampire lunged at Luke, moving at a speed that would blur to a normal human's eyes.

But halfway through the leap, the shadows beneath the vampire violently erupted. Several Shadow Ninjas materialized instantly, grabbing the vampire mid-air and violently slamming him into the concrete.

Schwing!

Several cold flashes of steel severed the night. In an instant, the vampire's arms and legs were cleanly amputated.

Luke stepped forward and planted his foot heavily onto the limbless vampire's head. Looking down, he finally saw genuine terror in the creature's green eyes.

"So, you rats do know how to feel fear," Luke mocked. "I thought you were all fearless badasses, considering how boldly you slaughter innocent people. Now, tell me where your local nest is, and I might just let you live."

The vampire opened his mouth, his throat letting out a series of hoarse, desperate croaks, but no words came out. The absolute, magical hierarchy of his bloodline prevented him from ever betraying the coven's location to an enemy.

After struggling for a minute and failing to utter a single coordinate, the vampire resorted to begging for his life, desperately offering to grant Luke the 'gift of immortality.'

Realizing the grunt couldn't give him anything useful, Luke shook his head in disappointment. He applied pressure, effortlessly crushing the vampire's skull beneath his heel.

The corpse instantly disintegrated into a pile of fine, gray ash, leaving absolutely no blood or gore behind.

"At least they're environmentally friendly," Luke muttered. "Don't even have to clean up the trash."

He snapped a quick photo of the ashes and the victim's body, sent it to Coulson, and told S.H.I.E.L.D. to send a clean-up crew.

Finding a vampire almost immediately after stepping outside proved just how infested this city was. It was time for a thorough extermination.

A few blocks away.

"Where are we going?" asked Christina, a tourist visiting LA, clinging tightly to the arm of the handsome, incredibly charming young man she had just met.

"A highly exclusive, VIP underground club. The atmosphere is incredible, and the performances are out of this world. I guarantee you won't want to leave once you get inside," the young man replied with a flawless, gentlemanly smile that easily won her trust.

"Thanks for showing us around, Mr. Local Guide," Christina giggled.

Her friend, Carrie, walked closely beside them. Watching the two flirt, she felt a deep, instinctual unease. She squeezed Christina's free hand and leaned in to whisper, "Be careful, Chris. I'm getting a really weird vibe from this guy."

Christina patted her friend's hand and whispered back, "Relax. He obviously just wants to sleep with us. We'll go to the club, order the most expensive drinks on his tab, get him completely wasted, and then ditch him. Don't worry, I won't get drunk!"

Reassured by her own plan, Christina continued to playfully flirt with the young man, enjoying the thrill of the grift.

The young man's charming smile never wavered, completely ignoring their whispered conversation. But deep in his eyes, there was a flicker of pure disdain... and ravenous hunger.

His eyes involuntarily darted to Christina's pulse point on her neck. He swallowed thickly and quickened his pace. He couldn't be late for the harvest.

He led the two girls completely through the bustling bar district, eventually stopping in a deserted alleyway in front of a heavy, unmarked steel door.

He knocked in a specific rhythm. A small sliding slit opened, and a pair of cold eyes inspected the young man, before glancing at the two increasingly nervous girls behind him.

The heavy door creaked open. Two massive, bouncer-like men stepped out, seemingly to leave, but smoothly positioned themselves behind the girls, completely blocking their escape route.

"Hey, what are you doing?!" Christina finally panicked. She reached into her purse, shoved a can of pepper spray into Carrie's hands, and pulled out a high-voltage stun gun, waving it threateningly.

One of the bouncers simply stepped forward. Completely ignoring the sparking electricity, he grabbed the stun gun with his bare hand. As Christina stared in shock, he delivered a brutal punch to her jaw, instantly knocking her unconscious.

Beside her, Carrie frantically sprayed the pepper spray into the other man's face. The man didn't even blink. He walked right through the chemical cloud, crushed the canister in her hand, and knocked her out as well.

The young man, unable to control his hunger any longer, dropped to his knees, his fangs extending as he prepared to take a bite out of Christina's neck.

Smack!

One of the bouncers kicked the young man squarely in the stomach, sending him sprawling.

"These two go to the central processing pool. Don't break the rules," the bouncer growled.

The young man scrambled back, not daring to show a hint of anger. He was just a newly turned, low-level grunt. His status within the coven was barely higher than the mindless thralls. Even some high-ranking human Familiars could order him around.

The absolute suppression of the bloodline forced his obedience. Wiping the drool from his mouth, he scowled and walked through the door to wait for his allotted rations. The bouncers casually slung the unconscious girls over their shoulders and followed him inside.

The entrance was cleverly disguised as a massive, industrial meat freezer, complete with rows of frozen, butchered cattle hanging from hooks to mask the scent of blood.

The vampires navigated through the frozen carcasses to the back wall. Extending his elongated claws, one of the bouncers inserted them into hidden keyholes in the concrete, triggering a mechanism that caused the wall to slide open, revealing two separate corridors.

A heavy, pulsating bassline echoed down one of the corridors. The young man's eyes lit up, and he eagerly headed toward the music. The bouncers carried the girls down the other path.

A completely invisible shadow, flat against the floor, silently slipped through the doorway just before the wall closed. After a brief pause, the shadow chose to follow the bouncers.

The bouncers carried the girls deep into the underground facility, eventually arriving at a massive processing room.

Dozens of unconscious humans were suspended upside down from the ceiling like cattle. Medical IV lines were expertly inserted into their arteries, though they weren't actively draining blood yet; the setup was designed to keep the victims alive and the blood as fresh as possible for the upcoming feast.

The bouncers prepared to string Christina and Carrie up.

Swish!

Two shadowy figures materialized from the darkness behind them. Twin katanas flashed in the dim light, and both vampires were instantly decapitated before they even realized they were under attack.

Luke stepped out of the shadows. His face was entirely devoid of expression, but his eyes burned with a terrifying, icy rage.

'Treating humans like literal cattle?'

The killing intent in his heart surged. More Shadow Ninjas materialized, quickly and gently cutting down all the suspended victims and laying them carefully on the floor.

Checking their pulses, Luke realized many of them were heavily sedated but alive. He immediately called Coulson and explained the situation.

Coulson was genuinely shocked by the sheer scale of the operation, promising to scramble a heavily armed S.H.I.E.L.D. strike team and medical personnel immediately.

While waiting, Luke dragged all the unconscious victims out of the freezer and into the alley. During the process, he intercepted several more vampires arriving with fresh 'deliveries'. Some of the kidnappers were vampires, while others were highly attractive human Familiars luring victims in.

Luke didn't discriminate. He ordered the ninjas to execute them all.

As the vampires turned to ash and the human Familiars were ruthlessly cut down, some of the kidnapped victims woke up, screaming in terror and trying to flee.

Luke had his ninjas gently restrain them. He tried showing his official S.H.I.E.L.D. badge to calm them down, but panicked civilians in a dark alley didn't care about a badge they had never seen before. Sighing, Luke just had the ninjas chop the backs of their necks, knocking them out again for their own safety.

Coulson arrived incredibly fast. A massive convoy of black SUVs screeched to a halt, and over a hundred heavily armed S.H.I.E.L.D. tactical agents poured out, swiftly securing the perimeter.

Handing the victims over to the trauma medics, Luke walked over to Coulson. Watching the tech specialists deploy ground-penetrating radar to map out the underground bunker, Luke gave a simple order.

"Seal every exit. Nobody gets out. I'm going in to clean house."

Inside the facility, the vampires were beginning to realize something was wrong. The shipments had stopped, and the bouncers weren't answering their radios.

A wave of unease rippled through the central club area. It was designed like an ultra-luxurious, massive nightclub. Heavy bass pumped through massive speakers, and dozens of vampires were writhing on the dance floor, eagerly awaiting the start of the feast. They were so engrossed in the anticipation that they hadn't even noticed the DJ had disappeared.

Luke bypassed the main floor and headed straight for the VIP balcony, cutting off a group of high-ranking vampires attempting to quietly evacuate.

"Where are you rushing off to?" Luke asked coldly.

He summoned a dozen Shadow Ninjas, completely blocking the corridor.

"Who are you?! The Vampire Council has a sacred peace treaty with the human governments! You cannot attack us!" the lead vampire shouted, trying to stall for time.

Luke couldn't even be bothered to reply. With a mental command, the ninjas lunged.

A few vampires attempted to fight back, but their physical stats were only three or four times that of a normal human. Against the 16x superhuman Shadowkhan, they were utterly outmatched. They were systematically slaughtered in seconds.

Luke walked calmly through the carnage, grabbing the lead vampire by the throat and slamming him brutally against the wall.

"Tell me where your superiors are. Or better yet, tell me where you were planning to run."

The vampire spat a mouthful of blood and sneered. "A vampire never betrays his own! You'll get nothing from me, bloodbag!"

Luke's expression turned glacial. Pure, highly concentrated dark energy flared to life around his hand, creeping slowly up the vampire's neck.

The moment the dark energy made contact with his skin, the vampire let out an agonizing, blood-curdling scream. He watched in absolute, mind-shattering horror as his flesh was rapidly corroded and assimilated into nothingness. The pain was so unimaginably intense that the vampire instantly lost control of his bladder.

Disgusted, Luke tossed him onto the floor. A ninja immediately hauled the sobbing creature back to his feet.

Luke manipulated the dark energy to wrap entirely around the vampire's body, subjecting him to a 360-degree, full-body torture session.

"Ready to talk now?" Luke asked softly, pausing the corrosion just before the vampire's internal organs were exposed. Thin tendrils of dark energy continued to writhe around the creature like hungry snakes.

The vampire stared at the dark energy with absolute terror. "The... the Helier Hotel," he babbled hysterically. "I... I usually meet my superior there!"

The vampire had found a loophole in his bloodline curse. He hadn't revealed the location of the central coven nest; he had only revealed a neutral meeting point, successfully bypassing the magical restriction.

Luke nodded in satisfaction. He looked at the pleading, desperate hope in the vampire's eyes.

"I don't recall ever promising to let you live."

Despair flashed across the vampire's face. He opened his mouth to curse, but the dark energy surged forward, completely erasing him from existence in a fraction of a second.

Stepping over the pile of ash, Luke turned and headed toward the balcony overlooking the main dance floor.

Down below, the vampires had finally noticed the completely empty DJ booth and the lack of arriving victims. A frantic, panicked murmuring spread through the crowd. However, without orders from the superiors Luke had just executed, the strict bloodline hierarchy prevented them from fleeing. They were trapped on the dance floor, anxiously waiting for instructions.

Looking down at the writhing mass of monsters, Luke felt a deep sense of revulsion.

'To willingly abandon humanity just to become blood-sucking parasites...' 1

A massive portal of shadows opened directly above the dance floor.

Several massive Troll Ninjas plummeted from the ceiling like wrecking balls. They crashed directly into the dense crowd, instantly crushing dozens of vampires into ash beneath their sheer, multi-ton weight.

Before the survivors could even react, the Razor Claws dropped down, landing lightly on their feet before unleashing a localized blender of razor-sharp steel.

The resulting massacre was completely one-sided. These low-level vampires were used to hunting defenseless humans in dark alleys; they had zero experience fighting a highly organized, super-powered military force. They were completely overwhelmed.

A few tried to scramble toward the exits, but the standard Shadow Ninjas had already formed an impenetrable phalanx around the perimeter of the room. It was a perfect kill box.

Watching his army efficiently slaughter the grunts, Luke tapped his earpiece.

"Coulson, are there any other hidden rooms in this facility?" While he could have his ninjas search the place top to bottom, he was feeling impatient. He had just gotten a lead on a bigger target, and he didn't want them to slip away.

Guided by the S.H.I.E.L.D. ground-penetrating radar scans, Luke quickly routed out and executed the few remaining vampires hiding in the lower levels.

Walking out of the building, Luke watched the S.H.I.E.L.D. cleanup crews moving in to secure the evidence. He walked over to Coulson.

"What's your next move? You've got definitive proof of them breaking the treaty now," Luke asked casually. As an official consultant, he was fully authorized to participate in joint operations. Besides, he had kept his hood up the entire time, so he could easily continue operating as a 'freelancer' without exposing his identity to the Vampire Council.

Coulson shook his head.

"S.H.I.E.L.D. will still not deploy official strike teams." Seeing Luke's frown, Coulson elaborated, "If we act officially, the Vampire Council will immediately sacrifice a few low-level scapegoats to appease us and go right back to hiding. But if a 'freelance vigilante' continues to hunt them down... you can freely assassinate their high-ranking leadership without triggering a diplomatic war."

Coulson smiled slightly. "Director Fury has authorized you to hunt their leadership structure. The bounty scales with their rank. For every rank higher, add a zero to the payout."

Luke nodded, fully understanding Fury's ruthless logic. It seemed the Director was genuinely furious about the treaty violation and wanted to use Luke as a deniable black-ops asset to cripple the vampires.

Giving Coulson a mock salute, Luke turned and melted into the shadows, heading straight for the Helier Hotel.
