Marvel: I Am The Lord of the Shadow Dimension
Chapter 55: Chapter 55: Sam's Breakdown"Wait, why can't any of you guys transform into aircraft and just fly there?" Luke asked, sitting inside Optimus Prime's cab and watching the convoy cruise down the highway at a painfully normal speed.
Even relying purely on his own dark energy propulsion, Luke could easily fly at nearly Mach 3. Compared to his flight speed, this supposedly hyper-advanced alien race—whose ancestors had literally harvested stars for energy—seemed incredibly slow and primitive when restricted to ground travel.
Optimus Prime's deep, rumbling voice echoed through the cab's radio. "Before the war, we were merely civilian laborers on Cybertron. We were dock workers, data clerks, and transport haulers. We had no need for flight capabilities or heavy weapons. Much like human society, we were just ordinary citizens performing ordinary jobs."
Jazz chimed in over the encrypted comms channel. "But the Decepticons were different. They were the military defense force of Cybertron. Their chassis were designed for combat, equipped with heavy armor, flight modules, and advanced weaponry right off the assembly line."
It was easy to hear the underlying frustration and bitterness in Jazz's voice. The Autobots had been fighting an incredibly uphill, asymmetrical war for eons.
"So, if you guys were given advanced, military-grade gear, you could actually turn the tide?" Luke asked, genuinely curious.
While he personally didn't have any advanced tech to give them, he knew a certain eccentric billionaire back in Marvel who built incredibly overpowered flying suits of armor in a cave with a box of scraps. Getting Tony Stark to whip up some upgrades for the Autobots would be child's play.
"Absolutely! Even completely outgunned and out-armored, we've managed to fight them to a standstill for eons! If our firepower actually matched theirs, those Decepticon punks wouldn't stand a chance! Right, Ironhide?!" Jazz cheered.
"Damn straight!" Ironhide roared over the comms. "Just give me a bigger cannon, and I'll blast Megatron's ugly face right off his chassis!"
'Ah, the classic 'superior firepower' doctrine,' Luke smiled, shaking his head.
"I'll definitely get you guys some bigger guns, but you can't blow up Megatron. I've already decided to capture him and turn him into my personal jet."
"Oh? Really?" Jazz chuckled. While he had witnessed Luke casually flying and sensed his incredibly high internal energy output, he sincerely doubted the tiny human could actually defeat Megatron in a one-on-one fight. Megatron was a terrifying, nearly unstoppable force of nature.
Jazz had no idea that the "energy output" his scanners picked up was merely the ambient leakage from Luke's multi-million point reserve pool.
Even Optimus Prime was highly skeptical. In his tactical estimation, the human might be able to survive a brief skirmish with Megatron, but physically defeating the Decepticon leader seemed impossible given the sheer mass and firepower difference.
"Are you guys seriously assuming I can't beat him just because I'm small?" Luke guessed their thoughts. He couldn't blame them; in the Transformers universe, size generally equaled power.
A small scout like Bumblebee stood absolutely zero chance against a massive gladiator like Megatron in a direct brawl. It took a massive, heavily armored Prime to even stand toe-to-toe with the Decepticon leader.
"Size doesn't determine everything," Luke corrected them. "In my universe, some of the most terrifying, unimaginably powerful beings are exactly my size. They can casually fly through the cosmos and obliterate entire alien armadas with a wave of their hands. Some of them can even shatter planets with a single punch."
"Whoa, wait, WHAT?!" Sam Witwicky screamed from the passenger seat of Bumblebee, nearly jumping out of his skin. "What kind of absolute monsters live in your universe?!"
Luke sighed heavily. 'Kid, if you think that's bad, wait until you hear about the giant purple grape who wants to snap half the universe out of existence just for fun.'
"Your dimension sounds incredibly hostile," Jazz whistled in awe. "Living in a world like that... aren't you terrified of just waking up one morning and realizing your entire planet is gone?"
"Exactly," Luke nodded solemnly, putting on his best 'battle-hardened veteran' face. "The survival pressure in my universe is immense. Every single day is a desperate struggle to grow stronger just to survive."
He completely ignored the fact that his "desperate struggle to grow stronger" mostly involved sleeping in, eating good food, and playing video games while his idle system passively farmed millions of energy points.
'I mean, technically, I AM training 24/7!' Luke justified to himself.
"Alright, we've arrived at the coordinates," Bumblebee's radio spliced together several audio clips to form the sentence.
Luke looked out the windshield at the quiet suburban house and hopped out of Optimus Prime's cab. Sam and Mikaela quickly piled out of Bumblebee.
"Okay, you guys have to wait here! And stay completely hidden!" Sam whispered frantically, gesturing to the massive robots. "If my parents look out the window and see five giant alien robots parked in the driveway, they're going to call the cops and the military!"
Sam then pointed at Luke. "And that goes for you too! My parents don't know you, and I can't explain why a random guy is sneaking into my house at night!"
Luke shrugged. He completely understood. After dealing with the intense paranoia of Marvel's various government agencies, avoiding a couple of suburban parents was nothing.
Luke ignited his boots and casually floated up, sitting comfortably on Optimus Prime's massive shoulder. He pulled out his phone and started playing a game.
"Your technology appears to be quite advanced," Optimus noted, glancing at the sleek, bezel-less smartphone in Luke's hands. The tiny device seemed far more sophisticated than the bulky cellular phones standard to Earth.
"A genius friend of mine built it in his basement in a few days," Luke replied casually, checking his battery percentage. He looked down at the massive Autobot leader. "Hey, Optimus, do you have a USB charging cable? My battery is getting low."
Optimus scanned the tiny device's charging port. With a quiet whir of micro-gears, a small, perfectly compatible charging cable extruded from a panel on his shoulder.
"I have calibrated the voltage output to match your device's specifications. It will not cause an overload."
"Perfect!" Luke grinned, plugging his phone in. 'Having a ten-meter-tall, sentient power bank is incredibly convenient!'
Suddenly, Luke remembered the Pym Particles from the Marvel universe—the tech that allowed Ant-Man to shrink objects down to microscopic sizes.
'Wait a minute! If I steal a Transformer and use Pym Particles to shrink them down to the size of an action figure... I'd have a fully sentient, transforming, pocket-sized robot buddy that doubles as a universal power bank!'
'This is genius! I'm definitely stealing Pym Particles when I get back!'
Optimus suddenly felt a strange, chilling sensation wash over his central processor, causing his massive frame to shudder slightly.
"Whoa, what's wrong?" Luke nearly fell off the shoulder as the robot twitched.
"It is nothing. Perhaps a minor glitch in my sensory core. I will have Ratchet run a diagnostic later," Optimus replied, confused. His internal sensors were functioning perfectly, so why did he suddenly feel a sense of impending doom?
Luke shook his head and hopped off Optimus's shoulder, floating down to join Mikaela, who was nervously watching the front door.
"Why hasn't he gone inside yet?" Luke sighed, watching Sam furiously arguing with his father on the front porch about curfews.
"Should we just sneak in through the window?" Luke suggested, looking up at Sam's second-story bedroom window, which was left wide open.
"Good idea. It looks like he's going to be stuck down there for a while," Mikaela agreed, following Luke to the side of the house.
"So... how exactly am I supposed to get up there?" Mikaela asked, staring at the window fifteen feet above her. She didn't have magic flying boots like Luke.
"Bumblebee! Get over here and give her a boost!" Luke whisper-yelled.
Hearing his name, Bumblebee eagerly tiptoed over, trying his absolute best to be stealthy. He carefully scooped Mikaela up in his massive metal hands and tried to lift her to the window.
However, Bumblebee was relatively short for a Transformer. Even standing on his tiptoes, he couldn't quite reach the second-story sill. 1
Luke stood on the lawn, struggling to suppress his laughter as he watched the giant alien robot wobbling precariously on his tiptoes, desperately trying to stretch his arms higher while Mikaela clung on for dear life. Luke mercilessly pulled out his camera and started snapping photos.
"Bumblebee! Stop wobbling! Hold still!" Mikaela hissed in a panicked whisper.
Seeing that Bumblebee was about to completely lose his balance and crash into the side of the house, Luke finally took pity on them. He summoned a squad of massive Troll Ninjas.
The five-meter-tall Trolls simply walked over, effortlessly picked up the struggling Bumblebee—holding the giant alien robot like a massive body pillow—and casually lifted him high enough for Mikaela to climb into the window.
"You really should have just done that in the first place," Bumblebee complained via a series of spliced radio clips, thoroughly humiliated by being carried like a toy.
"Next time, buddy," Luke chuckled, putting his camera away and floating through the window.
From across the lawn, Ironhide had watched the entire bizarre display. He leaned over to the other Autobots and whispered over the comms, "Does that organic anomaly have some kind of weird fetish for humiliating us?"
"Powerful entities often possess... eccentric personalities," Ratchet replied hesitantly, glancing nervously at Optimus.
"Impossible! That is entirely illogical!" Jazz defended their new ally, though he also cautiously glanced at Optimus.
Optimus shifted uncomfortably under the sudden, highly suspicious stares of his entire squad. He quickly cleared his throat synthesizer.
"Autobots! Maintain absolute vigilance! We must not be discovered by the indigenous population! It could jeopardize the mission!" Optimus ordered strictly.
The Autobots immediately scattered across the yard, hiding behind whatever cover they could find.
A few minutes later, Ironhide's tense voice crackled over the comms. "Prime. I have encountered a highly suspicious, aggressive biological entity."
Ironhide had his massive plasma cannons fully deployed, aiming them directly at a tiny, shaking Chihuahua standing on the lawn. After hearing Luke's terrifying tales of 'planet-shattering, human-sized monsters,' Ironhide was genuinely terrified that this tiny, furry creature was about to instantly expand into a massive beast and bite his leg off.
"Prime! The entity is advancing toward my position!" Ironhide panicked, fully prepared to vaporize the dog.
Thankfully, Sam had finally managed to escape his father. He sprinted around the corner of the house just in time to see the heavily armed alien war machine preparing to execute his family pet.
"No, no, no! Don't shoot! It's just a Chihuahua!" Sam whisper-screamed, diving to scoop the dog up.
Meanwhile, inside the bedroom.
"What is taking him so long?!" Mikaela groaned in frustration. She and Luke had been quietly tearing the messy room apart for ten minutes, but there was no sign of Sam.
Luke had just opened a locked box he found under Sam's bed. He flipped through the stack of highly questionable adult magazines inside and clicked his tongue. "No idea. Maybe he's still busy dealing with his parents?"
Mikaela peeked out the window and saw Sam standing in the yard, holding his dog and frantically arguing with Ironhide.
"Can he please hurry up?! If the Decepticons really tracked his eBay account, they could be here any second!" Mikaela hissed, her anxiety spiking. She had barely survived the previous Decepticon attack; she didn't want to get blown up in a suburban house.
Down in the yard, Optimus was also losing patience.
After finally calming Ironhide down, Sam sprinted into the house and rushed up to his room, still holding the Chihuahua.
"What the hell?! When did you guys get in here?!" Sam gasped, staring at his completely trashed bedroom. His eyes widened in absolute horror as he saw Luke casually flipping through his secret stash of adult magazines.
Sam practically dove across the room, snatching the box out of Luke's hands and violently slamming the lid shut.
"Those... those belong to a friend! He just left them here!" Sam lied frantically, his face burning bright red.
Mikaela rolled her eyes, completely unimpressed. "Now is really not the time to worry about your porn stash, Sam. Where is your backpack?!"
Sam aggressively shoved the box under a pile of dirty clothes. "Right! Backpack! I remember leaving it right over here..."
Luke watched him frantically dig through the closet, completely ignoring the backpack, and then rush back to check on his porn stash to make sure it was still hidden. Luke silently pulled out his camera and snapped a few more blackmail photos.
After five minutes of frantic searching, Sam still hadn't found the bag.
Optimus Prime's massive face suddenly appeared directly outside the second-story window.
"Sam. Have you located the artifact?" Optimus asked, his deep voice vibrating the glass. 'Do carbon-based lifeforms suffer from severe memory degradation?'
"I can't find it! Just give me ten more minutes! Please! Just go hide down the street or something!" Sam begged, on the verge of a total mental breakdown. He had nearly died twice today, and now giant robots were rushing him to find a pair of glasses in his messy room.
Sam glanced down out the window to see where the other Autobots were hiding. His heart completely stopped.
"Oh my god... that's my mom's prized flower bed! And my dad's custom pathway! And the fountain!"
Seeing the massive, crushed craters in the manicured lawn, Sam grabbed his hair in absolute despair.
Optimus realized the situation was rapidly deteriorating. "The Decepticons could arrive at any moment! You must hurry!"
Realizing that hiding five massive alien robots in a tiny suburban backyard was a terrible idea, Optimus issued a new order. "Autobots! Fall back! Conceal yourselves!"
"My backyard is not a parking lot!" Sam groaned miserably, watching the giant robots attempt to tiptoe out of the yard.
He turned back to his trashed room and let out a broken, hopeless sob.
"Dude, your backpack is significantly larger than your porn box. How can you not find it?" Luke sighed, casually tossing the locked box back under the bed.
Sam took several deep, shuddering breaths, desperately trying to prevent himself from passing out from sheer stress.
"Okay. You guys search that half of the room, and I'll search this half!" Sam ordered frantically.
Luke nodded. He deployed a squad of Shadow Ninjas from the corners of the room to assist in the search.
"Whoa," Sam gasped, staring at the magical ninjas appearing out of thin air, before frantically going back to tearing his bed apart.
Down in the yard, Optimus led the Autobots toward the street. However, because they were in their massive robot forms, they couldn't fit through the small garden gate. They were forced to carefully step over the brick walls.
As they were leaving, Ironhide wasn't paying attention to his upper clearance. His massive metallic head snagged on a thick bundle of overhead power lines.
"Oh, scrap!" Ironhide yelled, violently tripping backward and crashing heavily into the Witwicky's house.
The entire structure violently shook as if hit by a massive earthquake.
"EARTHQUAKE!" Ron Witwicky screamed from the living room. With reflexes that completely defied his age and build, he executed a flawless tactical slide directly under the sturdy dining room table.
"How are you so fast at that?!" Judy Witwicky yelled, completely stunned as her husband vanished beneath the table in a millisecond.
Upstairs, Sam felt the massive impact shake his entire room. His expression went completely blank. His soul had left his body.
"Just destroy it all. I'm so tired," Sam whispered brokenly.
Luke shook his head in pity. "My ninjas have completely searched the entire room. We found three mismatched socks under your bed and exactly forty-two cents in loose change under your dresser, but there is absolutely no sign of your backpack."
"Damn it! I swear I left it right here!" Sam yelled, clutching his head in agony.
Suddenly, the lights in the room flickered and died. The power lines Ironhide had snagged were completely severed.
"What now?!" Sam groaned, moving toward the window to see what the Autobots had destroyed this time.
But before he could reach the window, loud, angry footsteps stomped up the stairs.
"Sam! Who are you talking to in there?! Open this door right now!" Ron yelled angrily from the hallway, aggressively rattling the doorknob.
"Oh, crap! You guys need to hide!" Sam panicked.
Luke calmly melted backward into the shadows of the dark room, completely vanishing from sight. Mikaela quickly ducked behind a large armchair in the corner. Since the power was out and the room was a complete disaster area anyway, she was perfectly hidden.
"Sam! You know the rules! No locked doors in this house! I'm giving you three seconds before I kick this door down!" Ron threatened.
Staring at his utterly destroyed, pitch-black bedroom, Sam had no idea how he was going to explain this. He slowly, painfully reached out and unlocked the door.
