Chapter 3007: 3007. Gears And Mana

"You used condensed metal to make a cage around the cores?" Walker was looking at the wandering blacksmith who showed off the unique rune carved metal cage.

It consisted of several rings of dense metal that Walker understood might be some of the hardest to bend or break metals in all of Genesis. Not just because it was forged using multiple elemental forge furnaces, but also because it was forged constantly to add density and pressure to the metal.

"It can handle the flow of multiple manas." This was the response that the wandering blacksmith had.

He knew that to ensure that the metal pieces attached to the mana gem core being carved by another rune carver were able to handle sudden and brutal mana flows. Even if it was still limited to a certain level, he wanted to make sure that everything that was happening to the metal would result in a perfect flow.

He was absolutely stunned. Not just that the wandering blacksmith had gone to this effort to ensure that there were enough cores for multiple golems, but because each golem would have three of these cores!

Not to mention that the wandering blacksmith built them around the rune carved cores while also providing assistance in making gears, detachable joints, and layered scaled outer armor for the golems.

It was all very in depth and the sheer amount of work that the wandering blacksmith got done was astounding.

Walker had worried that the old crafter would become bored or something that would halt him from finishing this project. However, the crafter seemed to use this chance to demand more and more materials to keep pushing the limits of what might be possible.

He went to extreme lengths to make the golems the same height and shape as Walker’s current body while making the outer layers fitted with smooth dragon like scales. It was a method already used elsewhere in crafting to mimic the strength and ability to deflect blunt damage that a dragon and dragonkin naturally had.

Yet, there was also the fact that he constantly had Walker infusing the metals, gears, and rune formations with mana. This allowed everything to be better bonded and unsurprisingly it had earned Walker a new skill.

This skill in this term allows for the mana of Walker to bond with materials being used to craft.

This differential isolated the materials to be used by Walker, the one adding mana to them, instead of being used by anyone else. The addition of other manas will often be repelled unless actively allowed by Walker. Any forced push of other manas may cause severe damage unless controlled immediately by Walker using his own mana.

This skill bonds the mana and material directly to Walker allowing for him to better use those materials while also more fluidly moving mana through them. Due to this, they are perfectly in resonance with him and his mana allowing for further crafting potential...’

There were other small details of this but that was the least surprising.

The most was that the skill was a known skill but changed since Walker made it more specific. He could most likely use it in the normal sense, but for him, he was able to make it tailored for him and his uses. Therefore, he was able to show proof to those interested in the knowledge that certain skills could be different depending on who used them.

This had been documented before but now was even clearer since Walker had directly shown the process that caused this and how others may achieve similar results with specific skills.

Regardless, as he looked at the room now crowded with materials already used, pieces of broken parts that failed or needed to be tested first, and the five golem bodies all nearly finished, Walker was amazed.

However, he was more amazed by the feeling in his chest.

Fleur had returned from her own duties as a leader of the spirit race since she had sensed her bond with Walker changing.

Not in the way that it was being lost but in the way that she felt more mana flowing around and through it. This was simply because Walker had been expending more and more mana that he absorbed that she noticed and felt it. But also because she could vaguely sense the resonance with the mana within the golems that Walker was helping make.

She could tell that the natural mana within the various metals and parts was enough that she could easily share mana with them too. It confused her senses since she knew that Walker in his one and only real body should be able to do this.

Yet, to Walker this was proof that they were doing something right. He also noticed that the eternal codex in its rotating and unique original form was also attaching wisps of mana when he thought about connecting with the golems.

Yes the mana he pushed through the eternal codex didn’t have an anchor yet, but proof that he could will mana to flow from him to the eternal codex and then to them was proof alone.

He had also shown the made golem crafter how when he made an elemental doll using a material and manas that he could control them to a degree. That he could become even more hands on with that control if he so desired. Leading the crafter to begin taking that in to account as well.

He had spoken with some rudeness when he explained that these would never be permanent and once they were connected and moving with his mana that they would always be in some state of movement. Never truly halting and never truly being dormant. Just in a waiting state for his orders or his mind to control.

Walker had also been given a stack of books explaining how the dwarven golems were controlled by the central golems and commanders of the dwarven armies.

This did not share kingdom secrets, it was specific to only their process here and how the mana cores made for those golems were inscribed with specific rune formations and built with specific gears that reacted in specific ways.

Because Walker would not have those in the same form, these golems would need to move more like he did in his own body. Ensign that when she shared senses with them, he needed to treat them as if he was using his one and only body.

Something that he would need to meditate on when he tried to split his mind and focus his thoughts in six different directions including his own real body.

Due to this, Walker was currently using multiple manas to move wrenches, small flame dolls, and even the eternal codex to play hide and seek with Fleur who knew that she could hide her mana presence from Walker because of their bond.

Not that it was truly hidden if he went looking, but this was a test of his dynamic mana control and multi tasking abilities.

"More mana!" The call came as the mad golem crafter started to add larger sections of gear works, parts that had coils and mechanical processes Walker could not understand without more knowledge, and then the cores.

It seemed that the mad golem crafter was pushing this mana drain on Walker because the first mana that the cores absorbed had to be his. He had to bond with them in the same, if not stronger, way that he did with every material so far.

This process was exhausting and Walker almost felt like he was ill and not actually healthy. But that was also because of the constant mana drain. Without doing so, Walker was not going to be able to achieve his goals here.

He just had to hope that as he pushed harder, that the crafted bodies were able to handle it all.
