Max Level Return—I'll Protect That Fragile One

Chapter 546 - 193: Bonds Across Two Lifetimes (Part 1)_2

As soon as the words were spoken, the room was in an uproar.

But Divine Hidden Crane was not offended; the young man’s eyes flashed with bright and steadfast light. He said, "As the monarch of a country, one is both a pioneer and a pillar of support. Since I am king, I will certainly not fail my people, my subjects, and my soldiers!"

Xu Xingguang had lived for six hundred years, and she had learned to see through a person’s inner world through their words and expressions.

She sensed the young sovereign’s determination, and sincerely saluted her majesty, saying, "The Lin Family Army is willing to be the National Defense Army of Divine Xia Country, and I, Lin Piaopiao, am willing to be the sword in Your Majesty’s hand!"

This sword was not only a sharp weapon pointed at foreign enemies, but also a guillotine hanging over Divine Hidden Crane’s head.

If Divine Hidden Crane wronged Divine Xia Country, Xu Xingguang’s guillotine would first sever Divine Hidden Crane’s neck.

They monitored each other and encouraged one another, one becoming a Bright Monarch praised by all in the history of Divine Xia Country, the other becoming the bravest and most formidable National Marshal in the history of Divine Xia Country.

But Xu Xingguang never knew that her heroic and brilliant sovereign harbored feelings of admiration for her.

Now, thinking back, it all seemed unbelievable.

...

Huo Wen’an couldn’t wake up for quite a while, so Xu Xingguang placed the black meteorite into the Reincarnation Mirror Fragment and said to Song Chi, "Let’s go outside first."

She said, "The oxygen in here is becoming scarcer and scarcer."

"Alright."

Song Chi was about to reach out to take Huo Wen’an from her arms, but Xu Xingguang said, "I can carry him myself."

Song Chi raised an eyebrow, "Can you carry him..."

Before finishing his sentence, he saw Xu Xingguang easily lift Huo Wen’an and stand up without needing his help.

Carrying Huo Wen’an, Xu Xingguang turned and walked ahead, while Song Chi followed behind with an inscrutable expression. He was reminded of the scene in the Underground Beast Fighting Arena where Xu Xingguang had killed the old Boxing King Li Yucheng barehanded.

The explosive power within her was unmatched.

What’s another man? How heavy could he be?

The little uncle was originally an abnormal man, and he found himself an even more abnormal wife. Putting two abnormals together was chilling to think about.

Just as Xu Xingguang had said, the oxygen inside the Nocturnal Palace was thin and not suitable for staying long. Song Chi didn’t take anything with him, merely followed Xu Xingguang out of the underground palace. By the time they reached outside the Nocturnal Palace, both felt a sense of breathlessness and shortness of breath.

At the main hall of the Nocturnal Palace’s tomb, Xu Xingguang stopped to glance at the body of Empress Lin Piaopiao in the Crystal Coffin.

She said, "Open the Crystal Coffin and let her leave."

Song Chi didn’t understand why Xu Xingguang instructed him to do so, but he obediently took out the submachine gun from his bag and violently broke the cover of the Crystal Coffin.

As oxygen entered the coffin, black patches quickly appeared on Lin Piaopiao’s remains.

It wouldn’t be long before she decayed to bones, forever resting in the underground tomb with Divine Hidden Crane.

Noticing the ground beneath beginning to tremble, Xu Xingguang realized something was wrong and yelled to Song Chi, "Run!" She swiftly released the Eagle Sparrow, carrying Huo Wen’an as she and Song Chi entered the Eagle Sparrow’s body, jumping into the lake outside the Nocturnal Palace.

Noticing a small exit at the bottom of the lake, under Xu Xingguang’s control, the Eagle Sparrow shot swiftly towards the opening.

As they plunged into the sea through the opening, all 108 Heaven-Reaching Pillars in the Nocturnal Palace collapsed, along with the undersea world above the Nocturnal Palace.

Zheng Qin and the others, stationed on the grass at the foot of Zhongdong Mountain, felt the ground shaking. Zheng Lie’s expression changed dramatically. "Earthquake?"

Zheng Qin watched the imagery from the detection equipment and his expression changed significantly as well. He shouted, "The ground beneath Zhongdong has collapsed!"

"What do we do?" Cheng Yue looked at Zheng Lie. "The Pilot and Miss Xu are still down there."

Just then, Zheng Qin’s computer emitted a beeping sound. He opened software to find a rapid retreat signal from Xu Xingguang.

"Miss Xu is telling us to retreat." Zheng Qin said, "Miss Xu wouldn’t risk their lives as a joke. Zheng Lie, Cheng Yue, we retreat!"

"Okay!"

Everyone immediately mounted their motorcycles and raced towards the plains where their private jet was stationed.

They had only driven two thousand meters when the mountain where Zhongdong was located collapsed into the seabed, which was soon submerged by spreading seawater.

Fortunately, Zhongdong was located in the center of Divine Concealment Island, with only one crack running through the sea. Had it been near the shore, the moment the seawater poured in, it could have engulfed Zheng Lie and the others.

Staring at the mountain, which collapsed completely in the blink of an eye, Zheng Lie and the others remained silent.

Huo Wenbei, however, was shocked senseless.

"What are Huo Wen’an and the others doing down there!" Huo Wenbei’s eyes quivered as his voice shook, shouting, "Did they blow up Zhongdong?"

Cheng Yue directly stuffed a towel into Huo Wenbei’s mouth. "Yeah, they blew it up. Can you shut up now?"

"Mmm!" Huo Wenbei managed to spit the towel out and suddenly chuckled sinisterly, saying with eerie sarcasm, "Zhongdong blew up, and Huo Wen’an and the others are buried underneath."

"The Young Helmsman of the Huo Family, no more!"

Zheng Qin ruthlessly stuffed a lollipop into Huo Wenbei’s nostril, and Cheng Yue kicked Huo Wenbei in the stomach, cursing, "Shut your mouth!"

Huo Wenbei, though suffering, felt a twisted pleasure within.

Just thinking about Huo Wen’an being buried beneath Zhongdong gave him immense satisfaction.

However, the next moment, Zheng Lie’s phone rang.

Seeing the caller information, Zheng Lie delightedly said, "It’s Song Chi!"

Zheng Lie quickly answered the call and put it on speaker. "Song Chi, did you guys manage to escape?"

Song Chi, panting heavily and sitting on a reef, said, "Come to Siwei Town to pick us up."

Hearing this, Zheng Lie and the others were overjoyed.

Huo Wenbei’s dreams were shattered.
