The corridor was narrow, making it relatively easy for Klein to determine where Asher had teleported. Asher appeared at the other end of the corridor, but Klein was already there waiting for him.
Klein’s sword immediately moved toward Asher’s arm.
He wasn’t trying to kill him. He wanted to capture Asher alive and force him to explain everything that had happened inside the facility.
Asher simply looked at Klein calmly.
There was no fear in his eyes.
Then Klein suddenly heard Steve’s voice from behind him.
"KLEIN! ABOVE YOU!"
Klein immediately looked upward.
A demon was descending from above.
Its entire body was covered in thick, dark fog, making its appearance difficult to see clearly. Its sharp claws were already aimed directly toward Klein’s throat.
Klein instantly moved backward, narrowly avoiding the attack.
But then,Steve himself was suddenly attacked.
Four more demons appeared around him, all of them completely covered in the same dark fog. They surrounded Steve from different directions, their sharp claws already moving toward him.
Steve didn’t waste any time. He immediately released Light Element mana from his entire body, sending a powerful wave of light in every direction and attacking all the demons around him at the same time.
There was no way for him to dodge their attacks when they were already surrounding him from every direction, so attacking all of them at once was the safest option.
However, before the Light Element mana could reach them, the demons suddenly vanished from their positions.
Steve wasn’t surprised.
He already understood that the demons were using spatial magic to move around the battlefield and avoid his attacks.
Steve then looked toward Alan and Alex.
They were also being attacked by the same demons, forcing both of them to defend themselves against multiple attacks coming from different directions.
Before Steve could think any further,The demons reappeared around Steve again, already preparing to attack him from multiple directions.
Steve instantly moved toward one of the demons and struck it from the side, forcing it backward and creating enough space for himself to escape. He then quickly moved toward Alan and Alex, who were still dealing with the other demons.
As soon as Steve reached them, he attacked one of the demons from behind, trying to catch it off guard. However, the demon vanished before his attack could connect, leaving Steve’s spear cutting through empty air.
A moment later, the demon reappeared directly behind Steve. Steve didn’t sense it in time, but before the demon could attack, Klein instantly appeared beside him and swung his sword toward the demon.
The demon immediately vanished again, causing Klein’s sword to strike nothing but empty air. Steve noticed Klein standing behind him and was just about to say something when he suddenly sensed another attack approaching.
His expression changed instantly.
Sharp weapons made entirely of blood were moving toward them from multiple directions. At the same time, the demons that had been attacking Alan and Alex suddenly vanished, leaving all four Grandmasters standing together.
Klein also noticed the blood weapons approaching from every direction. He didn’t hesitate and immediately released a massive amount of Light Element mana from his body.
The mana rapidly spread around all four of them and formed a dense barrier of light, completely surrounding Steve, Alan, Alex, and Klein.
The blood weapons struck the barrier almost immediately.
Multiple loud impacts echoed through the corridor as the blood weapons collided with the dense Light Element shield.
After the blood attacks finally stopped, Klein continued maintaining the Light Element shield around the four of them. They had finally gained a few moments to breathe and recover from the sudden attacks.
All four Grandmasters looked toward Asher.
Standing behind him were twenty-nine demons, each one surrounded by a faint layer of dark fog. They were the same demons that had attacked them moments ago.
Alan and Alex looked confused.
Neither of them fully understood what had happened during the last few moments. Everything had happened too quickly for them to properly understand the situation.
Steve frowned deeply and then cursed in frustration.
"What the hell just happened in the last few moments? Why can’t we sense those demons even when they teleport?"
Klein remained silent.
However, he was thinking about the exact same question.
He had clearly sensed when Asher’s human vessel teleported earlier. The change in space had been noticeable enough for him to immediately follow Asher’s movement.
But the demon vessels were different.
When one of the demons had appeared directly above him earlier, Klein hadn’t sensed the spatial fluctuation at all.
He had only realized that the demon was there because Steve had warned him at the last moment.
Klein’s expression became more serious as he looked at the twenty-nine demons.
There was clearly something different about their spatial magic.
They weren’t simply teleporting normally.
Whatever method they were using was allowing them to completely hide their presence while moving through space.
Five of the demons suddenly vanished from their positions.
A moment later, they reappeared around the Light Element shield, each one holding a dark sphere in their hands. The spheres were radiating a dangerous and unfamiliar energy, making Klein immediately realize that the demons were preparing another powerful attack.
As soon as Klein noticed the dark spheres, his expression changed.
"Help me maintain this shield together!"
Steve, Alan, and Alex immediately understood the seriousness of the situation and began channeling their mana into the barrier.
However, before the five demons could launch their dark spheres toward the shield, something unexpected happened.
Their bodies suddenly went limp.
One after another, the five demons simply collapsed to the ground.
The dark spheres in their hands disappeared at the exact same moment, vanishing before they could release their attacks.
For a moment, everyone inside the shield remained completely silent.
No one understood what had just happened.
Asher’s human vessel looked toward the five fallen demons and then casually sighed.
"I pushed them too hard, I guess. It’s still a mortal body in the end. As expected, I can’t use it in a Master-rank body for too long."
