"Kill!"
"Take down those undead bastards!"
Swish, swish!
Boom, boom, boom!
On the blood-red earth, shouts rang out continuously, as groups of cultivators fiercely battled with the undead, the sounds of killing ever-present. Brilliant lights shone colorfully, and lifeless bodies laid strewn across the ground.
When Jiang Chen arrived at the light curtain, this is what he saw: a bloody wave surging forward with all its might, while a mass of gray-black undead poured out their attacks.
Jiang Chen felt a rush of hot blood, as if he had returned to the Spatial Battlefield on Yuan Star!
"Deputy Commander, once we reach the battlefield, we must not fly over a thousand meters, or their Unity Realm experts will attack us!"
Mu Pingchuan came up to Jiang Chen, speaking softly.
"Alright! This time, I won’t be giving any commands. You just need to follow me and charge."
Jiang Chen nodded slightly, then turned to the five hundred soldiers behind him: "Listen carefully, I will tear a hole in the defense circle of the enemy’s undead Sword and Shield Knights. When I break through, you all need to push in and prevent them from closing up again, giving others the chance to break through. Understood?"
The soldiers were briefly stunned, looking at Jiang Chen in surprise.
"What? You didn’t understand?"
Jiang Chen slightly furrowed his brow.
"Jiang... report!"
Mu Pingchuan was about to speak, when he recalled they were in a military setting, so he quickly shouted "Report!".
This shout drew the attention of the surrounding cultivators ready to replace injured soldiers, who all looked towards Jiang Chen in surprise.
The Blood Fiend Army had heard there was a War Array Master in the corps, but hadn’t seen him before; recognizing Mu Pingchuan and his men, they scrutinized Jiang Chen.
"Speak!"
Jiang Chen didn’t care about the stares, turning to Mu Pingchuan.
"Deputy Commander, tearing open the defense circle is usually the task of the Vanguard Camp. We..."
Mu Pingchuan began to explain softly.
"What’s with the Vanguard Camp? Aren’t they our brothers in arms? Or are their Vanguards also made up of offenders?"
Jiang Chen furrowed his brow, speaking deeply.
"Not at all, it’s just..."
Mu Pingchuan tried to explain further but was interrupted by Jiang Chen.
"Then that’s settled! I don’t care how you fought before, but under my command, it’s my rules. If I, Jiang Chen, dare to charge ahead, don’t you have the guts to follow?"
Jiang Chen barked out.
"Yes, we dare!"
The soldiers shouted loudly in unison.
"Then what are you waiting for? Assemble by attribute, and charge with me!"
Jiang Chen called out, flashing forward and breaking through the light curtain.
Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!
The five hundred soldiers gritted their teeth and followed.
"Wow, is he really a War Array Master?"
"He just charged ahead like that?"
"Isn’t that going to mess up the corps’ plans?"
"What can five hundred people mess up, what splash can they make, I bet that new War Array Master just wants to show off!"
The soldiers preparing nearby started murmuring quietly.
Breaking out from the light curtain, Jiang Chen immediately sensed the murderous aura.
On the battlefield outside, the Blood Fiend Army had already advanced over ten miles, with blood-red figures stretching from a thousand meters in the sky to the ground.
The fighters were divided into small squads, fiercely engaging the undead, while the undead’s main force was positioned a mile away from the chaotic battlefield, with Sword and Shield Knights in front forming a thousand-meter-high wall, stretching God knows how long, while arrows and black beams shot from the rear.
The cultivators on this side relentlessly launched Great Dao attacks against the undead, yet most were blocked by the enemy Sword and Shield Knights.
"You always fight like this?"
Jiang Chen watched for a while, speaking with a hint of oddness.
The battlefield seemed to be a ten-mile area for the main fight, with the following mile serving as a buffer, resembling a playground face-off between cultivators and undead legions.
"Yes, in every battle, the first ten miles serves as the main battlefield, with both sides sealing off the area beyond those ten miles. We fight to kill the undead in this ten-mile zone, while they attempt to prevent our breakthrough and bring more undead forward."
Mu Pingchuan responded softly.
Jiang Chen paused slightly, glancing sideways, and indeed saw a weak point in the Blood Fiend Army’s defense ten miles away. A squad of a hundred undead Sword and Shield Knights broke through, only to be quickly slaughtered by the Blood Fiend Army, leaving behind several bodies of their own.
Looking up at the sky, Jiang Chen noticed there were no Unity Realm experts above the eleven-mile combat zone. The enemy’s Unity Realm experts had retreated twenty miles out, while their own experts were behind the light curtain; clearly, this battle was solely for the Void Refinement Realm.
"Follow me, attack!"
Jiang Chen called out, flashing toward the nearest battle group.
This battle cluster was a small skirmish, with over thirty Blood Fiend Army warriors encircled by more than fifty undead.
As Jiang Chen approached, two undead warriors broke off to block his path.
"Spatial Shift!"
A slight grin appeared on Jiang Chen’s lips as his form suddenly vanished, reappearing behind several undead archers.
"Wuying Sword Path!"
Swoosh, swoosh, swoosh!
Three formless sword shadows materialized, instantly piercing the three undead archers.
Bang, bang, bang!
The undead archers exploded, turning into a mist of gray-black, swiftly dispersed by the surrounding Qi Force.
Swoosh!
Just after dealing with the three undead archers, Jiang Chen’s expression changed, and his form flickered away from his original suspended position.
Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!
Several black beams shot through the space he had just occupied.
"Such quick reflexes, these undead who only have combat instincts can be even trickier than the living at times!"
Jiang Chen muttered, no longer concerned with this battle group. He blinked forward repeatedly, using the Spatial Dao Power to flash through, soon reaching the mile-long buffer zone.
Here, masses of cultivators hovered in mid-air, rotating continually to block the advancing undead army.
"Which corps are you from? What are you doing here? Get back to your assigned combat zone!"
A soldier shouted angrily upon seeing Jiang Chen appear beside him.
Jiang Chen was slightly taken aback, glancing around, and noticed that the people within the ten-mile scope and those in this mile-long zone seemed distinctly separate. The enemies in the ten-mile scope belonged to those outside, and those here were managed by soldiers here.
"I belong to no specific zone, I’m just maneuvering!"
Jiang Chen chuckled in response, eyeing the confrontation zone a mile away, looking for a breakthrough point.
The soldier frowned, turned to glance above the light curtain to see the Blood Fiend Army’s commanders were watching but not intervening with Jiang Chen, so he said no more.
No one intervening indicated the man next to him wasn’t breaking any rules.
