For a soldier like Roy, his superiors are certainly troubled by him, but his subordinates absolutely adore and protect him.
The Solar System Company has just raised its flag and absolutely needs seasoned soldiers to make a name for itself, and Roy is the best commander Abdullah could find.
However, now that Gao Yang is the boss, he is considered Roy’s superior. For Gao Yang, Roy is a double-edged sword. Used well, everything goes smoothly; used poorly, Roy is quite likely to stir up a big mess.
In a place like the military, where ranks are clear and discipline is strict, Roy is always the rogue character. In a security company, where there are few constraints, isn’t Roy likely to overturn the heavens?
Actually, this problem isn’t very serious, at least not for now. The reason is complex. Firstly, the personnel source for the Venus Troops is complex. Call it a PMC or a mercenary unit, Venus Troops cannot maintain its formation, and after this month’s mission completion, there will inevitably be departures and new recruits joining. Hence Roy can’t imprint his style onto this unit in the short term, nor can he cultivate absolute authority like in the army.
Another reason is that those who fight to the death do so for money. Joining the Solar System Company is for better benefits. Abdullah only needs to apply a bit of management pressure like on a company, offering rewards for good work and penalties for mistakes, up to and including expulsion. No one’s going to indulge anyone. If anyone truly commits something heinous or stirs up trouble, they’ll own up to it themselves.
Of course, Solar System Company will strengthen its management in the future, especially replacing frontline combat commanders with trusted personnel. But for now, lacking suitable candidates, only those with capability can step up.
The issues facing Solar System Company are those that any new company will face, and they can’t be solved in the short term. Fortunately, in the short term, they won’t cause significant trouble.
Currently, Roy is about to lead the Venus Troops, bearing a Shah Army unit’s designation, onto the battlefield. But where exactly Venus Troops will be dispatched, nobody knows, and should they actually face off with Satan, it is quite possible.
No way can we end up fighting ourselves, so now the positioning of Venus Troops is very important. Without waiting longer, Abdullah quickly called after Gao Yang turned on his phone to inform him where Venus Troops would be sent.
"It has been confirmed that Venus Troops will depart from Najran tomorrow morning at nine, take armored vehicles to Jelf Mountain Pass, and then walk into the mountains for operations. Their objective is to clean up all Houthis Armed Forces near the Gulf Mountain Pass, only responsible for attack operations. Once Houthis forces are cleared, the captured position will be handed over to subsequent Shah forces."
Gao Yang whispered, "Jelf Mountain Pass, tomorrow morning at nine."
Eileen quickly pointed to a spot on the map, whispered, "Here, about thirty-five kilometers from us, Jelf Mountain Pass is impassable by car, so it’s not that important."
Gao Yang nodded and then whispered into the phone, "It’s far from our position, impossible to run into them; do you know who might attack us in this area?"
Abdullah whispered, "I don’t know, but we’ll surely get the intel. Besides us, another company has a ready force of more than eighty men prepared for combat, likely to be deployed together tomorrow."
"Which company?"
"I don’t know, but I suspect it’s Three-leaf Jungle. I met with a manager from Three-leaf Jungle; he seemed very interested in the Shah business. Other company teams are still being urgently formed and dispatched, so this team, though trying to hide its origins, I believe are people from Three-leaf Jungle."
Three-leaf Jungle is also a fake big company, established in 2003, later than the famous Blackwater, but much bigger and stronger than the now-defunct Blackwater.
Officially, Three-leaf Jungle and Solar System Company are both legitimate security companies doing legitimate business. But what they do behind the scenes is widely known. Rumor has it that Three-leaf Jungle provides mercenary services in South America and Central Africa. In truth, they’re as shady as anyone else.
Three-leaf Jungle has fewer people, but their reputation is big. If Shah were to choose, they’d definitely prefer the more reputable Three-leaf Jungle for important positions.
Which terrain is most crucial around Najran? Naturally, it’s the Najlan Valley, not far from Satan’s base. In other words, if Three-leaf Jungle acts, they’d be near Satan, making encounters likely.
If it really is Three-leaf Jungle, their strength should not be underestimated. Although not purely a mercenary group, Three-leaf Jungle isn’t as renowned as Iron Madonna in the mercenary circle, yet their strength is hard to gauge.
Gao Yang thought for a moment, whispered, "What’s happening with the other two companies?"
"The other two are Deyang International and Armored Group. Everyone is interested in Shah contracts, and Shah is eager to bring in more competitors; otherwise the prices wouldn’t be this low. It’s not that Shah people have learned business, but because everyone’s fiercely undercutting prices to get the contract. Right now, Shah is using PMCs and mercenary groups separately; I only know which PMC companies have entered Shah. As for the mercenary groups, you’ll have to find out through other channels, and once you have results, don’t forget to inform me."
"Understood. There’s a fairly important issue; Roy won’t act independently, will he? I mean he won’t run around without informing you, right? I wouldn’t want us to end up fighting our own, paying compensation for killed compatriots."
Abdullah laughed heartily, saying, "Rest assured, Roy absolutely won’t be a problem, at least not for the short term. Besides, Roy only wants nobody to interfere with his way of fighting. He’s willing to cooperate with everything else, no problem."
Gao Yang whispered, "Alright, keep in touch as situations arise, that’s all for now."
After hanging up, Gao Yang said to the others, "The team assembled by Three-leaf Jungle will likely come to our area tomorrow. Specific intel is still being gathered. The current question is what stance should we take if Three-leaf Jungle does come here?"
Tarta gave a sly smile and whispered, "Gather intel quickly. As long as we figure out their exact operation location, assemble Houthis Armed Forces’ heavy troops to hit them hard; if we don’t severely attack our competitors, how can we demonstrate our value?"
