Mercenary’s War

Chapter 2536 - 2512: Private Debts

The choice of restaurant also had requirements. After quickly finding a suitable one, Gao Yang personally called Karl Stemonsen, extending a dinner invitation.

Karl Stemonsen agreed to have dinner with Gao Yang.

Gao Yang called the cleaner, and their workers would go to the restaurant in advance to make arrangements.

As the boss, inviting a job applicant to dinner is indeed uncommon, so finding a reasonable excuse is not easy. While the execution is complicated, it can all be explained in a few sentences.

The dinner time was set for 7:00 PM.

Gao Yang was dressing in front of the mirror. Texas was very hot. If he wore a suit and shirt in the office, the gun could be concealed, but dining at a moderately priced, popular restaurant dressed in a suit would not be fitting. With a shirt or T-shirt, a gun on him would be easily noticeable.

After pulling out the smallest gun he could find from his waist, Gao Yang said regretfully, "No way."

Joseph also whispered, "Yes, it would be easily discovered."

Karima, worried about Gao Yang’s safety, said softly, "Why not just bring it along? This is Texas, lots of people carry guns."

Gao Yang replied helplessly, "Yes, many people do, but I, as a company boss, have a meeting at the company this afternoon, and I’m going to meet with a government official. Right after meeting the official, rushing to the restaurant to meet them and eat dinner, how can I still carry a gun?"

Joseph muttered, "Just a poor excuse choice."

Gao Yang waved his hand, "Then I won’t carry a gun. You carry an extra one for me and stay close to me."

Not carrying a gun felt a bit uneasy, but carrying one seemed too conspicuous. To handle everything smoothly, no abnormal situations could arise.

Just then, Gao Yang’s phone rang. After listening, he hung up and announced, "Everything’s set up, let’s go. We need to control our arrival time. I need to be three minutes late, neither more nor less, exactly three minutes."

Joseph drove, checking the time occasionally. When there were ten minutes left before the agreed time, Joseph finally stepped on the accelerator, heading towards the designated restaurant.

The car sped directly to the restaurant’s entrance. Gao Yang got out, checked his watch, and hurriedly walked toward the restaurant door.

Karl Stemonsen and his three companions were waiting at the entrance as arranged. Gao Yang quickly approached them with an apologetic look and said hastily, "So sorry I’m late, there was some traffic, my apologies."

Karl Stemonsen looked calm and whispered, "We just arrived as well."

Gao Yang gestured for the four to enter and smiled, "Let’s go in, it’s on me tonight, haha, I’m starving."

"Reservation for table five."

He said to the waiter, who immediately gestured, "This way, please."

The restaurant was large and crowded, not very upscale in decoration. Because it was a Texas Steakhouse, families dined there, and friends enjoyed beers and conversations, making it a bit lively and not as quiet as a fine dining establishment.

The waiter led Gao Yang’s group to a round table. After indicating for Karl Stemonsen and his companions to sit, Gao Yang casually grabbed a menu, acting familiar, and announced loudly, "Two large ribeye steaks with special sauce and large fries, and a bottle of beer and a bottle of cola, both chilled."

After ordering, Gao Yang smiled at the four and said, "Relax, guys, besides steak, there’s nothing else to order here, but the steaks are genuinely great. I really like this place. I don’t know if you’ve been here before, but I hope you’ll like it too. Uh, I’m covering tonight, so don’t worry about saving my money."

The way Texans eat steak is often mocked by Europeans, but Gao Yang truly enjoys it, and the four from Cerberus seem to like it too, despite apparently not having been here before.

"I’ve been here, this very place."

One looked younger and, with a smile, extended his hand to Gao Yang, "I’m Mike, Mike Jones."

"Hello, Mike."

Standing up to shake hands with Mike, Gao Yang sat back down, rubbed his hands, and smiled, "Would anyone like a drink?"

Mike immediately said, "Beer, uh, I’m not drinking."

Except for Mike, the other three shook their heads. Then Karl nodded towards Mike and said, "You can drink."

"Oh, beer, I’ll have beer."

From this small drinking matter, it was clear the four were very disciplined, with Karl Stemonsen as the absolute leader.

At this time, Joseph, having parked the car, came in. Gao Yang gestured and smiled, "Was parking difficult? I ordered your favorite dish."

Joseph nodded, "Thank you."

Joseph sat beside Gao Yang, who pointed at Joseph and smiled, "My bodyguard and driver, also a good friend. You’ve met him this afternoon, formally introducing, Faya."

Joseph nodded slightly, then sat quietly.

Karl Stemonsen remained calm. Gao Yang felt it was time to proceed, so he rubbed his hands and smiled, "I’ve been very busy lately, so we need to discuss business in the restaurant. Now that the food hasn’t arrived, Karl, anything you want to say?"

"Mr. Gao, we want to join the Solar System Company, but there’s something important I must tell you first. We might be carrying some troubles, and I think it wouldn’t be fair not to tell you in advance."

Gao Yang was slightly taken aback, then asked seriously, "Oh, what kind of trouble?"

Karl Stemonsen maintained his calm demeanor and replied, "We need money, a large sum. Without money, we can’t carry out our revenge plan. We need a way to make a lot of money in a short time. If you have any clandestine operations you want to conduct, we think we can handle that for you. Of course, I mean operations involving combat."

Gao Yang seemed somewhat grim, frowning, "Revenge?"

Karl Stemonsen remained calm and said in a steady voice, "To settle a personal debt with an infamous arms dealer. If you’re worried about drawing trouble, we can leave now."
