Mercenary’s War

Chapter 2573 - 2549: The First Strike

The team stationed in a small village more than 140 kilometers in a straight-line distance from Aden.

Aden has already fallen into the hands of the Gulf Cooperation Council, and the main roads surrounding it are controlled by them as well. However, the Gulf Cooperation Council only occupies Aden and its surrounding areas, which are not very large. Further locations are controlled by the former government military led by Hadi.

As for villages more than 100 kilometers away from Aden, neither the Gulf Cooperation Council nor the former government military would pay attention to them, so naturally, these places became areas where the Houthis Armed Forces could still operate in Southern Yemen.

The territory of Yemen is almost entirely desert, which undoubtedly brings many inconveniences. However, for combat, deserts actually have advantages, as there are no roads required, nor are there roads needed.

During the first Iraq War, the reason the U.S. Army could successfully carry out the left hook maneuver of advancing over a hundred miles in a day was largely due to Iraq’s lack of natural barriers for defense and its inability to focus fortifications on the U.S. Army’s inevitable path, forcing their forces to be dispersed.

In ancient times, deserts were insurmountable barriers for humans, but under current conditions of combat equipment, deserts are easy ways.

For Satan’s missile troopers, desert terrain is very beneficial in that as long as the missile vehicles are driven out, everywhere becomes a road for free running, and everywhere is an excellent launching position. Besides the annoyance of dust kicked up by missile exhaust, there are no other problems.

Of course, the difficulty of hiding in the desert is a disadvantage, but considering the enemy is mainly the Gulf Cooperation Council Allied Forces led by Saudi Arabia, this disadvantage is not much of a problem.

At around one in the morning, the convoy entered the village, and there were specialists to handle communications with the scattered Houthis Armed Forces stationed in the village, leaving Satan only to do his own task, with other trivial matters managed by the Houthis.

Gao Yang jumped off his vehicle, and together with Joseph, each grabbed a bucket and ran towards the water truck. The water in the plastic bucket was emptied, and Gao Yang didn’t want the convoy to stop mid-way just to wait for him to fetch water, so he had been thirsty for a long time.

He ran to the water truck accompanying the convoy, opened the valve, filled half a bucket of water, and immediately began gulping it down. The water in the tank truck was warmed by the sun and had a strange taste, but once thirst hit, these weren’t issues.

While Gao Yang was drinking water, a military officer dispatched by Salim as a liaison ran up to Gao Yang and whispered, "Sir, it’s very safe here, your room is ready for rest, do you want to go now?"

Gao Yang shook his head, splashed some water from the bucket onto his face, and said in a deep voice, "How many of our soldiers are here?"

"Forty-six people."

"Are they reliable? What about the villagers?"

"Our people are definitely reliable, as for the villagers, the issue isn’t significant."

Gao Yang nodded and said in a deep voice, "No hurry to rest, you take people and control the village thoroughly; no matter who, allow entry but not exit. Until the orders are lifted, absolutely no slacking off."

"Yes, sir, any other instructions?"

"Nothing else, get to it."

After sending the officer away, Gao Yang took the water bucket back to his vehicle. Then he picked up the walkie-talkie and said in a deep voice, "Wild Duck, take your people into the village to rest, Niva, Dmitry, come to my place."

After putting down the walkie-talkie, Niva and Dmitry soon arrived at Gao Yang’s vehicle side.

Gao Yang was not a hothead, especially during combat when he sought to avoid impatience, but today, he was eager to launch a couple of missiles.

On seeing Niva and Dmitry, Gao Yang got out of the car and opened the trunk, then spread the map from the SUV’s trunk, using the light inside the trunk, and immediately said to Niva and Dmitry, "We are here, the airport is here. Airports are big and fixed targets, with enough time, I want to hit two rounds tonight. What do you think?"

Without hesitation, Niva immediately said, "No problem."

Dmitry also nodded, saying, "Technically, no problem."

Gao Yang immediately picked up the satellite phone and dialed out. While waiting for the other party to answer, he unconsciously lowered his voice and whispered, "I have two packages to send, can your side receive them?"

The main force led by Gao Yang has a slow speed, while the Black Demon team moving into Aden is much faster. Therefore, before Gao Yang and his team reached position to launch an attack on Aden, Tarta’s team had already been waiting in Aden for two days.

"There’s someone at home to receive, it’s better to be scattered than large packages."

Gao Yang raised his head and said to Niva and Dmitry, "There are no issues at the airport side; the best way to strike is using cluster warhead rather than singular warhead."

Dmitry smiled, "We have only one missile with a cluster warhead on the launch rack. Replacing the missile would take too long, at least forty minutes."

Gao Yang waved his hand, "Then fire one each, and then discuss further. Having run this far, I can’t wait to hear some big noise, get started now."

Niva nodded, then said in a deep voice, "Do you need a repeating strike?"

Where to strike, how to strike, how many strikes, these are decisions made by Gao Yang. But how to execute, this is handled by Niva and Dmitry.

Gao Yang decisively said, "No need for repeating strikes; two rounds are enough. Today is just a greeting, and safety first, just two shots are fine."

"After firing, should we move to another location or return here?"

"Return here."

Niva then picked up the walkie-talkie, said in a deep voice, "Camouflage from the delivery truck removed, ready for dispatch; other vehicles remain for enhanced camouflage, over."

Upon Niva’s order, Gao Yang immediately put on the night vision device and looked toward the missile launcher vehicles some distance from him, watching the camouflage nets on two launcher vehicles being quickly dismantled, revealing the dark missiles on the vehicles.

Gao Yang took a breath and then said to Niva, "The next steps rely on you. I’ll personally lead people as protection for you and also to broaden my horizons."

Using a missile tactically for the first time made Gao Yang indeed very excited. And this time, reconnaissance isn’t needed since the airport is right there, unlike hitting a moving target where investigation is essential to determine its position and value, making this first mission very easy. Given this, Gao Yang certainly wanted to observe.

Leaving behind the unused convoy in the village, the team under Gao Yang continued without pause, following the missile unit eagerly into the vast desert under the guise of escorting but actually to watch and enjoy the spectacle.
