Mercenary’s War

Chapter 2584 - 2560: Rescue

"Go rescue the people. You all come with me and bring your construction tools, hurry up!"

When the soldiers began shouting for help, Hammer immediately made a decision to go on a rescue mission.

Why go on a rescue mission? Because it offers a close-up look at the damage caused by the missile. What better opportunity could there be?

"Get up, drive up the loaders, excavators! All excavators, come with me, bring your machinery with me!"

Hammer wore a serious expression as he waved his hands, shouting at the people lying on the ground to get up. He then stood next to the driver’s seat of a loader, gripping the cabin door, and shouted, "Move it! Hurry up, don’t dawdle, we can’t waste time rescuing people."

The loader headed towards the missile impact site.

Hammer was very pleased inside. He just wanted to laugh out loud. If he wasn’t suppressing his urge, he would surely laugh.

The loader led the way, providing Hammer with a great view. As the loader he was riding approached the missile-hit building, Hammer jumped off the loader.

A three-story building had one side blown apart, turning completely into rubble. The other side was also collapsed but not as thoroughly as the exploded half, remaining about two stories high. It looked like the third floor had collapsed onto the second floor, leaving some supported space inside.

The rescuers had completely surrounded the building. There was no possibility of survivors in the directly hit rubble, but it was very likely that someone survived in the left half of the small building, which had only collapsed.

"Wow, this is intense!"

After a shout of exclamation, Hammer immediately yelled, "Clear the way, let us through."

It was chaotic, with the rescuers shouting. Some people were panicking, others were grieving, and some had already started to clear the wreckage with bare hands.

Hammer stood and observed the situation. Some people wanted to enter the remaining rubble to rescue people, but they were stopped by the officers on the scene. The remaining part could collapse at any moment, so rushing in could mean death. Many people had already died, and there was no need to risk more lives.

At this moment, a second lieutenant in United Arab Emirates military uniform ran to Hammer, shouting urgently, "Hurry and open up the remaining building parts. We need to get in immediately and rescue people; there might still be someone alive!"

Hammer was hoping the remaining part would collapse immediately, but he looked at the remaining half of the building with a serious face and shook his head.

The officer shouted at one of the excavator drivers, "You, create an entrance, see there? We need to go in and rescue people."

The excavator driver nodded and headed towards the remaining rubble. At that moment, Hammer shouted at the second lieutenant, "Do you understand architecture? Are you sure the remaining structure is stable? Can people really go in for a rescue? Are you trying to get everyone inside killed? The structure could collapse at any moment. Look..."

With a crash, a precarious slab fell, hitting the ground and raising a massive cloud of dust.

Hammer shook his head helplessly, saying, "We can’t go in. Absolutely not."

The second lieutenant shouted urgently, "The colonel is still inside. His room hasn’t collapsed. You have to let me in. He could still be alive. Move, or I’ll shoot you!"

Hammer grabbed the second lieutenant and shouted, "We can’t use machinery. Using it might collapse the relatively stable rubble immediately. Step aside and let me take charge!"

After saying this, Hammer shouted to the people with small tools behind him, "You all come with me!"

The second lieutenant wanted to run back to the front of the rubble, but Hammer caught him and said urgently, "Stay here, introduce the situation to me. What kind of building is this? What’s its internal structure? Where could people be? Where are most people?"

"This is the officer’s quarters. Most rooms are occupied!"

Officer’s quarters?

Wonderful!

Hammer almost couldn’t help laughing for a second. Heaven bears witness; he only guided the missile to a target inside the military camp without intending to precisely bomb a specific point, as missile accuracy couldn’t achieve that. But now it’s great; not only did the missile hit a building, but it was also the officer’s quarters.

He intended to shoot a Mouse for fun, but the shot ended up taking down a Tiger. What could be better than this?

Most importantly, to Hammer’s knowledge, the highest commander of the United Arab Emirates in Yemen was a colonel. Since the Allied Forces were mainly led by Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates only sent a colonel.

This means if that colonel is in the rubble, then this missile strike has taken out the highest commander of the United Arab Emirates.

Hammer picked up the radio, shouting urgently, "The officer’s quarters have been bombed. Everyone, all engineering personnel, come over for the rescue. Machinery cannot be used. Bring simple tools. Hurry! The colonel is inside too."

After shouting into the radio for a while, Hammer had already reached the front of the rubble.

He drew a hammer from the tool belt at his waist and said seriously, "You control the situation here. Don’t let the soldiers get close. Stepping onto the rubble might collapse the surviving space, making things worse. I’ll lead the building workers for the rescue; at least we have some experience."

The second lieutenant looked at Hammer, nodded, but then said, "I’ll go with you myself!"

Hammer shouted angrily, "You keep order, don’t let people get close. See how chaotic it is here, where is the colonel?"

The second lieutenant immediately pointed to the rubble, "On the first floor. The colonel is on the first floor, he might still be alive!"

Hammer climbed onto the rubble.

After assessing the situation, Hammer pointed to a spot and loudly said, "Chisel a hole in this concrete slab!"

Hammer genuinely knew where to open an entry for the rescue and knew how to do it.

Several workers stepped forward to attempt it, and then one worker shouted, "It’s too big, can’t be moved, let’s use an excavator!"

Hammer immediately said, "No, we can’t use an excavator. Moving this concrete slab might cause a collapse. Get a jackhammer, cutting tools! Cut through the rebar and chisel a hole in this concrete slab!"

The jackhammer began drilling holes. The progress wasn’t fast, but under Hammer’s command, the small opening slowly began to expand, soon becoming a hole big enough to fit a person through.

Hammer inspected the hole that could fit a person, then inserted the hammer back into his belt and said loudly, "I’m going in to check. Keep an eye out, and if anything happens, shout for me immediately."
