Mercenary’s War

Chapter 2586 - 2562: Over the Line

Hammer looked somewhat annoyed, and his annoyance immediately surfaced on his face, appearing quite intense.

Hammer intended to control the survival time of that major to about half an hour, letting the doctors attempt to save him for half an hour before finally succumbing. There wasn’t a special reason for doing so, it was just what he wanted.

Disguising it as an accident while ensuring the target can’t speak alive is sometimes crucial. If the rescued is heavily injured but survives, people feel it’s an accident, but once dead, suspicions arise. However, this time, such measures weren’t necessary at all.

In plain terms, Hammer just had an itch to scratch.

So Hammer was very annoyed why the colonel died after just ten minutes instead of lasting the intended half hour. It illustrated his technique had regressed, as his control over the force wasn’t as precise as it used to be.

So, Hammer was genuinely upset.

The brigadier was also deeply saddened, bowing his head and mumbling prayers for the deceased Colonel Zayed.

After a brief moment, the brigadier said to the lieutenant, "It’s truly unfortunate. Rest assured, we will definitely avenge Colonel Zayed."

He offered a word of comfort to the lieutenant since both the deceased colonel and the lieutenant were Emiratis. After addressing the lieutenant, the brigadier turned to Hammer, helplessly saying, "Colonel Zayed is gone, but your achievements will not be forgotten. What’s your name?"

Hammer was wearing a name tag and responded in a deep voice, "My name is Hamad Bin Kashimi, General, I’m so sorry the colonel is still..."

Hammer appeared very grieved. The general patted his shoulder, sighed, and said deeply, "You did well."

Normally, this conversation should have ended here, as a brigadier, especially one overseeing a vast array of affairs, is very busy. However, at this moment, someone came running over.

"General, sorry I’m late."

A person dressed in a white robe with a black and white checkered keffiyeh came running over.

The brigadier said to the newcomer, "We just received bad news, General Zahid has sacrificed. You must hurry the rescue operations, your workers can maneuver better than our soldiers. Oh, this Hamad Bin Kashimi here is doing very well; his work is outstanding and he’s very brave."

The newcomer was extremely surprised and said, "Hamad? He’s not Hamad, I don’t know him, General, did you make a mistake?"

The brigadier was quite surprised and said, "Uh, isn’t he from your company?"

Hammer’s heart skipped a beat, inwardly exclaiming that something was wrong.

The newcomer looked at Hammer in extreme surprise, scrutinized him from head to toe, and then was even more astonished, asking, "Who are you?"

Hammer shrugged and said, "I..."

Before Hammer could speak, the person with the keffiyeh suddenly said, "Number 0016, that’s Hamad’s employee ID, but who are you?"

Hammer, looking perplexed, said, "I am me, an electrical engineer, Hamad Bin Naymi."

The brigadier’s face changed slightly, stepping back a pace.

The person with the keffiyeh was still dumbfounded and loudly said, "Naymi? Not Kashimi, you... what’s going on here?"

It was done, completely overdone.

Hammer sighed inwardly and then also looked confused, saying, "What are you talking about? Ah, I got the wrong name badge, oh, so that’s it, sorry I took the wrong badge."

"But why is your ID 16, no! I have never seen you before."

Hammer bitterly smiled, saying, "You don’t remember me? Oh, that could be possible, I..."

"Hamad is my cousin; you are not my company’s employee, so you actually..."

The person with the keffiyeh hadn’t figured it out, but the brigadier yelled, "Seize him!"

Hammer wanted to move quietly and quickly pull out his hammer to crush the brigadier’s skull, unfortunately, the brigadier wasn’t too stupid.

Suddenly he retreated two more steps and then shouted loudly.

Hammer was extremely annoyed because he missed the chance to bash the general’s skull.

"Am I indeed as rash as the Captain said? Am I truly unsuitable for solo missions and fieldwork?"

The soldiers beside the brigadier, although they carried guns, didn’t have them in hand, acting as if facing a major enemy, as this was a military camp.

Just when the soldiers beside the brigadier were about to raise their guns, the lieutenant had already pounced on Hammer.

Hammer swiftly extracted his hammer, smashing the lieutenant’s temple with a bang, then he quickly extended his left hand, drawing the pistol from the lieutenant’s holster.

Grabbing the pistol in one hand, the brigadier’s soldiers also raised their guns. At this moment, Hammer suddenly threw the hammer in his hand towards the brigadier and swiftly yanked over the manager, still in a state of shock, using him as a shield.

"Don’t move, or I’ll kill him."

Hammer moved incredibly fast, surpassing the limits of what any normal person could achieve. However, ultimately, he was still human.

Shouting loudly while rapidly retreating, he had barely stepped back seven or eight paces, roughly four or five meters, when the now lucid brigadier yelled, "Shoot, kill him! No, capture him alive."

The brigadier’s command was contradictory, but his soldiers opened fire.

There were at least eight soldiers around the brigadier, plus various officers in the camp, making it thirteen people with him.

But the truly quick to react were those eight soldiers.

Someone fired, the bullet hitting the manager being used as a human shield, passing through, hitting Hammer.

At the moment the brigadier shouted to shoot, Hammer also opened fire. Even while continuously retreating, his three consecutive shots burst the heads of two soldiers.

The bullet pierced through Hammer’s right arm, penetrated the manager’s chest, deflected into Hammer’s lung, shot through the manager’s abdomen, and embedded in Hammer’s abdomen. One bullet blasted through the manager’s head, grazing Hammer’s head.

Hammer got shot four times instantly; he paused, and had to stop.

However, Hammer quickly fired again, repeatedly firing towards where the brigadier was. The soldiers swiftly shielded in front of the brigadier, having to temporarily cease their attack.

To protect, not attack, was every soldier’s utmost duty.

Hammer gained a brief moment to catch his breath, but his human shield quickly became heavier, forcing him to let go of the now deceased manager.

Releasing the manager, Hammer fired two more shots, killing two still poised soldiers, then staggered back behind a vehicle.

Before taking cover behind the vehicle, Hammer was shot in the leg again. This time, it wasn’t from a soldier’s rifle but a handgun wielded by an officer, yet this shot successfully rendered Hammer unable to continue moving swiftly.

At least, Hammer couldn’t move quickly anymore.
