Mercenary’s War

Chapter 2626 - 2602: How Are You? I’m Fine.

Gao Yang got a helicopter in Kiev, and then he took it to Donetsk.

It sounds simple, but doing it is really hard. Just traveling by helicopter to Donetsk is impossible without extremely strong connections.

However, Gao Yang eventually arrived in Donetsk by helicopter.

The sound of gunshots continued, and the occasional cannon fire could be heard, but large-scale battles had ceased.

For Angel, a temporary ceasefire was a welcome situation because the power deployment controlled by Angel was aimed at the government army. Facing a sudden attack from ally forces was extremely disadvantageous in terms of troop deployment and resulted in a passive beating situation. Even the short time of a temporary ceasefire was extremely precious for Angel.

As for the militia forces that recklessly attacked their allies, they had no choice but to cease fire. They intended to wipe out the force controlled by Angel but definitely did not want to lose control of the territory in their hands. When the government army suddenly acted, posing as if they would take advantage of the militia infighting to reclaim lost land, those militia forces that had gained the upper hand over Angel had no choice but to cease fire.

Thus, when the government forces suddenly launched and engaged in large-scale movements, creating an offensive posture, the civil strife within Donetsk City quickly subsided.

Everyone knew peace was fleeting, so all three sides were deploying troops, awaiting the arrival of larger-scale battles.

Poloneshenko sought political influence. The surrender of the 15th Independent Artillery Regiment posed an unprecedented blow to the Ukraine Government. If the 15th Independent Artillery Regiment could be reorganized, the impact on Poloneshenko and the government forces would be immeasurable, so Gao Yang could motivate the government forces.

The Russia-controlled militia wanted a complete army and a complete territory, not to completely annihilate the militia controlled by Angel. Annihilating a force that currently has at least five thousand combat-ready soldiers, the largest armed faction in Donetsk would cause massive chaos within Donetsk and greatly impact the entire Eastern Ukraine anti-government alliance. Therefore, if Angel’s forces could be peacefully absorbed, it would be the best choice.

So, when government forces might seize the opportunity to attack, even if the Russian-backed militias did not cease their attack on Angel, they had to at least divert forces to guard against the government army, thus greatly reducing the pressure on Angel.

Government forces indeed started acting as he had hoped, and Russia-backed militia organizations also had no choice but to pause their offensive, all this was within Gao Yang’s expectations.

Only Nate’s reaction was something Gao Yang could not entirely grasp.

The helicopter slowly landed, at the location designated by Angel Mercenary Corps.

When the helicopter finally touched down, Gao Yang stood up with a solemn face. As he reached the helicopter door, the always tense Joseph whispered: "Boss, be careful!"

Joseph opened the cabin door, Gao Yang jumped off the helicopter, then he looked around and let out a light sigh.

The sky was completely dark, no one could be seen nearby, the helicopter’s rotor blades, still spinning, made a huge noise, and there was only one person standing about ten meters away.

Gao Yang walked outside, and the person standing walked towards him. When he got in front of Gao Yang, he saluted loudly: "General, please follow me."

The noise was significant, forcing Gao Yang to shout loudly: "Where’s Nate!"

"The colonel is waiting for you, please."

The person who came to receive Gao Yang was Angel’s intelligence officer, just one person, only him.

The rotor blades were slowly decelerating, and as Gao Yang approached a vehicle with a solemn face, he couldn’t help shouting: "How’s your commander."

"He’s fine, please."

Gao Yang got into the car. He considered asking the intelligence officer, but soon dismissed the idea.

In front of a very secluded little house, the car stopped. The intelligence officer was very courteous; he opened the door and jumped down before the vehicle came to a complete stop. By the time the car was fully stationary, he had already opened the door on Gao Yang’s side.

"General, please."

Gao Yang didn’t understand why, at this point, Angel’s team could bother with such formalities.

Gao Yang silently walked towards the small house.

The intelligence officer opened the door, Gao Yang walked in, and then saw Nate setting a tablecloth on a square table.

Nate’s work was nearing completion. He carefully smoothed out the last wrinkle, put a vase on the table, glanced at it, and after slightly adjusting the vase’s position, nodded satisfactorily.

Nate stood with both hands behind his back, solemnly beside the table. Then, looking at the entrance where Gao Yang stood, he said in a low voice: "Please come in, General."

Extending his left hand, he pointed towards the table and said in a deep voice: "Please sit, coffee?"

Gao Yang was impatient. Standing in front of Nate, he wanted to understand whether Nate was mad or slightly foolish now.

Nate seemed neither angry nor sad. He was calm, even somewhat indifferent.

Looking at Nate’s calm demeanor, Gao Yang had no words. The rhetoric he had prepared completely escaped him; he was anxious. He thought Nate would be anxious too, even perhaps violently upset.

But seeing Nate’s extreme calmness, Gao Yang’s heart sank, and he had no idea what to say.

"What are you trying to do!"

Nate invited Gao Yang to sit, but Gao Yang stood looking at Nate for a long time, finally uttering his first words.

Nate smirked.

Nate actually laughed.

"Please sit, we have time for a cup of coffee."

Gao Yang finally sat down, and after Nate sat down, he loudly exclaimed: "Coffee."

No one responded, and no one brought the coffee. Several seconds later, Nate suddenly said: "Sorry, I forgot Wizard is not here anymore. I’m not quite adapted to this new situation. Wait, I must do it myself."

Gao Yang raised his hand to stop Nate from moving, then he bellowed: "Joseph, coffee, where’s the coffee."

Nate pointed behind him with a calm expression: "Back there, coffee’s already ground, water’s already boiled, just waiting for you."

Joseph nodded, headed into the back room, and after Joseph left, Gao Yang couldn’t refrain from asking: "Are you okay?"

Nate smiled and said: "I’m fine. This day is unpleasant, but it was bound to come. I was mentally prepared, I’ve readied myself for everything, I’ve always awaited this day’s arrival. So, as you see, I’m fine."

"Are you okay?"

"I’m fine."

"Are you really okay?"

"I’m really fine."

Suddenly, Gao Yang reached out and knocked down the vase filled with several blue Vasilek flowers onto the floor. Rising up, he pointed at Nate’s nose and shouted: "What the hell are you pretending for! Pretending for what!"

Nate remained seated without moving, his facial expression unchanged. Then he slowly said: "I’ve said, I’m fine. If you can’t understand, that’s your problem. But me, I’m fine!"
