Liam woke before the sun cleared the tree line.

The villa was quiet in the way it only managed in the early hours. He dressed without rush, went downstairs, and poured coffee in the kitchen.

Through the window he could see Jack already in the courtyard, moving through slow, controlled drills with a staff. No wasted motion. No noise.

Veronica crossed the main hall with a tablet under one arm and nodded once when she passed him.

Cole was on the north path, posture straight, pace exact. Vanessa moved along the east tree line, slower than usual. The house felt slightly tighter than the day before. Nothing dramatic. Just denser.

Renee came into the kitchen while he was finishing the coffee. She stopped when she saw him, fingers adjusting the cuff of her sleeve even though it didn’t need it.

"Morning," she said.

"Morning." Her eyes flicked up to his face and then away. She poured water, kept her shoulders controlled, and left again after a short nod. Still adjusting.

Jessica passed through the far end of the hall a minute later. She didn’t look over. Distance remained her default setting.

Liam drank the last of the coffee and stepped outside. Jack finished a turn with the staff and rested it against his shoulder when he noticed him.

"You’re up early."

"So are you." Jack shrugged. "Habit." He studied Liam for a second. "You look like you’re working on something."

"I am." Jack didn’t ask what. He simply nodded, spun the staff once, and went back to his drills. Presence without interference.

Liam’s phone vibrated in his pocket.

Victoria. He answered while walking back toward the house.

"Victoria."

"I need to talk to you," she said. Controlled. Direct. "In person. Today."

"Where?" My place.

"Gimme few minutes." He hung up, left the empty cup on the counter, and left the villa without explaining anything to anyone.

Victoria opened the door herself.

Black blouse. Fitted trousers. Hair down. She stepped aside and closed the door behind him with a soft click.

"Charles asked me to speak with you," she said as they entered the living room.

Liam didn’t sit. "I assumed."

"He’s irritated you declined so quickly. He believes a partnership would still benefit both sides. Less friction. More reach." She watched his face. "He asked me to try."

"And you agreed." I said I would have the conversation. Victoria’s voice stayed even. "That’s all."

Liam looked at her for a long moment. "You’ve said what he wanted you to say."

"Yes."

Silence settled. Victoria didn’t move to fill it. Neither did he. The original reason for the meeting thinned almost immediately, leaving something less formal in its place.

Victoria’s eyes moved over him, slower than before. "You’ve... she searched for the words before saying more matured."

"Have I?"

"Yes." Liam stepped closer. Not enough to touch her yet. Enough that the space between them changed. Victoria held her ground, but her breathing shifted. Small. Noticeable.

"You shouldn’t have stressed yourself calling me here for Charles," he said.

He lifted a hand and brushed his knuckles along the side of her neck. Her skin was warm.

A faint shiver went through her, quickly suppressed. Liam’s thumb traced the line of her jaw, then rested lightly at the base of her throat. Victoria’s lips parted.

"Liam." His name came out quieter than anything else she had said since opening the door.

"If this continues," she said, "Charles stops being part of the conversation."

Victoria’s eyes had darkened. Her hand had curled into a light fist at her side.

For a second she seemed to weigh the version of the morning she had planned against the one currently standing in front of her.

"Then stop talking about him," he said.

Liam kissed her. Victoria made a low sound against his mouth and gripped the front of his shirt.

He pressed her back toward the wall, one hand in her hair, the other sliding under the hem of her blouse to find bare skin.

Her stomach tensed under his palm. The kiss deepened. Her mouth opened for him.

When his hand rose higher and brushed the underside of her breast through the thin bra, her breath fractured and her fingers tightened in his shirt.

He didn’t rush. His hand stayed under her blouse, thumb tracing slow lines along her ribs, then higher again, dragging across the underside of her breast with more deliberate pressure.

Victoria’s back arched a fraction. A quiet, broken sound escaped her when he brushed her nipple through the fabric. She was already firm under his touch. He pinched lightly. Her hips shifted.

Liam broke the kiss but didn’t step away. His forehead stayed close to hers. Victoria’s lips were darker, her breathing uneven.

The controlled woman who had opened the door was no longer fully in charge of her expression. "You’re shaking," he said.

"I’m aware." He kissed her again, slower this time, and cupped her breast properly under the blouse. The weight of it filled his hand.

Victoria moaned into his mouth when he squeezed. Her hands had moved from his shirt to his shoulders, holding on.

When he dragged his thumb across her nipple again, her thighs pressed together and her breath caught hard.

Liam pulled back just enough to look at her.

Flushed. Mouth open. Eyes dark. Blouse disordered where his hand had been. The unfinished tension was written clearly across her body.

"This is as far as it goes today," he said. Victoria’s eyes opened, heat and frustration mixed. "You’re stopping."

"Yes."

He withdrew his hand, smoothed the edge of her blouse back into place, and stepped back. Victoria stayed against the wall, breathing too fast, the deliberate space he had put between them doing nothing to cool the look on her face.

She didn’t try to pull him back. She simply watched him. Liam adjusted his cuff once.

"I’ll be in touch." He left her there, still braced against the wall, still breathing too fast, and showed himself out.
