Millionaire Girlfriend

Chapter 15 - A Terrible Day

Chapter 15: Chapter 15 - A Terrible Day

Three hours later, standing behind the counter of the shop, Ashley wondered what kind of sorcery had affected her.

Every time someone entered the store, she stupidly hoped it was Clara.

It was ridiculous.

Especially since she had just blocked Clara because her phone wouldn’t stop ringing and vibrating from all the calls and messages she was sending.

’This must be what falling in love feels like...’ Ashley thought.

She didn’t even know exactly why she had fallen in love with Clara.

But now, she had finally stopped denying it.

She was in love with her.

Then her phone rang, which was strange since no one usually called her.

Yes...., her life was really that sad.

She answered the call, thinking it was Clara again, but then remembered that she had blocked her only a few minutes earlier.

"Hello?" she said as she picked up.

"Ashley, don’t hang up..." said a voice on the other end of the line.

Ashley immediately ended the call because she recognized the voice.

It was Clara.

’She really can’t live without me,’ Ashley thought happily.

Ding...

The small bell above the door rang as a customer entered the shop.

It was a man in his forties, tall and quite handsome for his age.

Ashley already knew him.

He was the married man who had been hitting on her for several weeks.

Ashley always refused him politely because he had become a regular customer and often gave her generous tips.

"Good morning, sir. I’m happy to see you again," Ashley said.

She hoped she wasn’t being too friendly and giving him the wrong idea, but she also wanted to be polite enough that he would continue leaving her large tips.

"Good morning. I’m glad you’re happy to see me," the man replied in a self-satisfied tone.

Ashley prepared his usual order.

Meanwhile, the man looked around the shop to make sure they were alone.

"I don’t think you understood me correctly last time," the man said, almost whispering.

"When I asked for a phone number, I meant yours, not the store’s," he continued.

"Can you imagine my disappointment when I called and your boss answered instead?"

He laughed as if the misunderstanding was genuinely funny.

Ashley laughed in return.

Not because she found it funny.

But because she couldn’t believe he had actually thought she would give him her personal number.

Of course, she didn’t want him to know that.

She handed him his order and his change.

"Keep the change," the man said.

Then he moved closer to the counter, standing nearer to Ashley.

"So, are you going to give me your number now?" the man asked.

"You’re really a nice person, but unfortunately, you’re already married," Ashley explained, pointing at the wedding ring on his finger.

The man quickly hid his hand.

"Listen, I have a lot of money," the man said.

"If you agree to go out with me once, I can give you an amount of money you could never earn, even after working for six months in this tiny shop," he added, trying to convince her.

Not only was this man shamelessly hitting on a girl young enough to be his daughter, but he also wanted Ashley to sleep with him in exchange for money.

Ashley didn’t want to be rude, but the situation was starting to scare her.

Unfortunately for her, she was alone in the shop, which meant there was no one there to help her.

"Listen, sir. What you just suggested is extremely insulting. I would appreciate it if you stopped and left," Ashley said firmly, but not too loudly, afraid of making him angry.

"How much do you want, then?" the man asked, still refusing to give up.

It was the first time Ashley had been alone at the shop, and he wasn’t going to miss the opportunity to get the pretty waitress from the store he only visited because of her.

"Please leave," Ashley said, this time louder.

"Do you want four thousand dollars? Or maybe five thousand?" the man asked.

He pulled out a thick stack of bills from his bag.

He had already prepared the money in case the girl was just playing hard to get.

The man believed that everyone had a price.

He simply wanted to know Ashley’s.

"Listen, asshole, if you don’t leave right now, I’m calling the cops for harassment," Ashley snapped.

She had reached her limit and was starting to worry about what the man might do.

But she immediately regretted saying that.

She knew people like him usually didn’t stop until they got what they wanted.

And when they were refused, they could become violent.

But in her panic, Ashley couldn’t think of any other way to defend herself.

She prepared herself to run and call for help.

But surprisingly, the man who had been insisting so much suddenly calmed down.

He only gave her a hostile look.

Then he held out one of his hands.

Ashley didn’t understand what he wanted.

"Give me back my money," the man demanded.

"Um...?" Ashley asked, wanting to make sure she had heard correctly.

But then...

"Give me back my money, bitch!" the man shouted.

Panicking, Ashley quickly searched through the pocket of her apron and took out all the money inside.

The man took everything.

all of her tips were gone.

Then he left the shop, slamming the door behind him.

Ashley immediately called her boss and told her everything that had happened.

Her boss even called the police, just in case the man decided not to stop there.

She also decided to stay at the shop and asked her son, who wasn’t particularly athletic or intimidating, to stay with them.

"Are you okay, Ashley?" Jacob asked.

He was wearing headphones and playing a game on his phone.

"I’m okay," Ashley replied, keeping her calm despite the situation.

She had never relied on anyone. She was used to keeping her problems to herself and solving them alone.

"Cool... cool," Jacob said.

" Hey, do you know how to send nudes?" the boy suddenly asked.

"What?" Ashley asked, surprised but not shocked because of Jacob’s previous strange ideas.

"Why do you want to know that?" Ashley asked.

It wasn’t out of curiosity.

She only wanted to know whether she needed to teach him a lesson or not.

She owed him that much since Jacob’s mother was always kind to her, and Jacob seemed like a good kid despite his weird thoughts sometimes.

"So, there’s this girl I met while playing an online game, and she told me she would send me a nude if I sent her, you know... a picture of my di..." Jacob said, avoiding saying the last word completely.

"How do you know she’s actually going to send you a nude after you send her a picture of your private part? And are you sure she’s really a girl?"

Ashley crossed her arms.

"Thinking about it, I think you’re probably talking to a predator trying to trap teenagers online," she explained.

" You’re right. Maybe I should ask for hers first before sending mine," Jacob said.

He still didn’t understand what Ashley was trying to explain.

Ashley walked over to him and pinched his arm hard.

"You still don’t understand that what you’re doing is a bad idea?"

She continued pinching him.

If the boy didn’t learn through a gentle approach, she would use a harsher one.

"Ow! Ow! I get it, stop!" Jacob cried in pain.

Ashley finally released his arm.

"Why don’t you just date a girl your own age instead?"

She thought for a moment.

"If you don’t understand what I mean, I’m talking about the girl you offered to pay so she would show you her tits. She seems to have feelings for you. The proof is that she comes here often to talk with your mother."

"Yeah right... She doesn’t talk to me at school anymore since that day," Jacob replied, not sounding very convinced.

"Did you at least apologize to her?" Ashley asked.

But when she saw the stupid expression on Jacob’s face, she immediately understood.

Jacob still hadn’t apologized to the girl.

Ashley pinched his arm one last time.

"Call her right now and apologize. And invite her to come here if she’s not busy," Ashley suggested.

As expected, the girl came.

She had even applied her makeup a little awkwardly, clearly showing that she had tried to look good.

Ashley was basically playing the role of a wingwoman for two people who knew absolutely nothing about relationships.

Ashley herself wasn’t an expert when it came to couples either, but unlike those two teenagers, she at least knew how to socialize.

She became so focused on Jacob’s date with his future girlfriend, Amy, that she almost forgot about what happened that morning.

She had even unblocked Clara earlier and called her, but Clara hadn’t answered.

By the end of the day, she had almost forgotten all her problems.

Almost.

Until, on her way home, she realized that a car was following her.

She knew because she recognized it.

It belonged to the married man who had harassed her that morning.

She pretended not to notice and didn’t speed up because the street was still full of people.

She doubted the man would try anything.

’Unless he has a gun...’

Her paranoid thoughts screamed at her.

She decided to walk faster because one of her roommates worked at a restaurant not far away.

But the car accelerated as well.

Then it passed her and suddenly stopped, with one tire almost on the sidewalk.

Ashley’s heart almost stopped from fear.

The nearby pedestrians were shocked as well.

The man stepped out of the car.

Ashley remained frozen, expecting the worst.

But fortunately for her, the man didn’t pull out a gun.

Unfortunately for her, he pulled out a half-eaten birthday cake.

Then he threw it at Ashley.

The impact made her fall backward.

"That’ll teach you to report me, you bitch," the man said before getting back into his car and driving away.

The man had been celebrating his eleven-year-old daughter’s birthday when the police, after identifying him, showed up at his door.

They gave him a serious warning right in front of his wife.

Even though no one else had heard what was said, the man’s ego had been deeply hurt.

So he drank far too much during the small celebration.

And when he saw the opportunity to escape with his daughter’s leftover birthday cake and get revenge on Ashley, he didn’t hesitate.

Ashley remained sitting on the ground for a few seconds until a woman who had witnessed the scene helped her stand up.

This time, she refused to call the police.

She didn’t want to make the situation worse.

She knew she wouldn’t win against someone like him.

She removed her sweater, now covered in cake stains.

She wasn’t going to cry.

Crying wouldn’t help her solve her problems.

Instead of staying depressed and alone in her room, she decided to go somewhere where someone loved her.

She decided to seek comfort from Clara.

Unable to reach Clara earlier, Ashley had called Julia, who told her that Clara had stayed at her house all day.

So Ashley took a taxi toward the person she loved.

She was relieved when the gate opened.

And she was even happier when she saw Clara quickly walking toward her.

She even managed to smile.

But...

"Ashley, what are you doing here?" Clara asked, turning around as if she had noticed a target behind her.

Ashley still didn’t understand the situation.

"Are you not happy to see me?" she asked with a bright smile.

"Of course I am, but this isn’t really the right time," Clara replied.

She grabbed Ashley’s arm and turned her toward the exit.

"What’s going on? You’re busy, aren’t you?" Ashley asked.

This time, she finally realized something was wrong.

Clara’s expression confirmed her suspicions.

"I’ll explain later," Clara said.

She even used a little force to try to move Ashley away.

"Clara!"

A voice from the house called out to them.

A woman was walking toward them.

Ashley couldn’t get a clear look at her face, but she could tell that she was beautiful, even from a distance.

Whoever was calling Clara had to be someone important.

Who was she?

And why was Clara trying so hard to hide her?

Dozens of questions crossed Ashley’s mind as Clara continued pulling her toward the exit.

Until Ashley finally stopped.

She stood there in front of the now-closed gate.

Her expression completely empty.
