Chapter 82: Chapter 82 - Painting Their Future
A few weeks after their wedding, Ashley had to return to work again.
Her agent had found her a role in a movie that would only require a short period of filming. It wasn’t a major production like the movie Ashley had worked on before, but it was still a good opportunity.
More importantly, Ashley wanted to focus more on her personal life. After everything she and Clara had been through, she didn’t want her career to consume her entire life anymore.
The movie had a smaller budget, but the story itself was already very popular.
It was an adaptation of a famous story that had originally been published on the internet and had gained a large following over the years.
Ashley played one of the main characters.
Behind the camera, Clara watched Ashley work for several hours as the cast and crew repeatedly filmed the same final scene.
Everyone wanted the scene to be perfect.
Adaptations were often heavily criticized by hardcore fans who had fallen in love with the original story. Many readers preferred the version they had imagined while reading and were quick to point out anything they felt was wrong in a movie adaptation.
Because of that, the producers, director, actors, and everyone involved in the production were under considerable pressure.
They had already filmed the scene several times, but the director still wasn’t completely satisfied.
Clara watched Ashley give everything she had.
Even after three months of filming, Ashley never seemed to treat the final days as an excuse to relax. She remained completely focused on her performance, repeating the same movements and emotions until the director was satisfied.
Finally, after another take, the director watched the playback.
For several seconds, nobody said anything.
Then he suddenly stood up.
"Cut!"
Everyone immediately looked toward him.
"It’s perfect!" the director shouted, finally satisfied with the result.
The entire crew burst into applause.
After three months of filming, the movie had finally reached the end.
Ashley couldn’t stop smiling.
She was exhausted, but she was proud of herself.
She knew she had given everything she had to this project, and that was enough to make her feel satisfied with the result.
"Great job, Ashley. You were amazing," one of her co-stars told her.
"Thank you. You were amazing too."
Ashley smiled before pulling the fifteen-year-old boy into a hug.
Over the past three months, they had spent so much time working together that Ashley had grown attached to him. She had gradually come to see him as a little brother.
"Hmm! Hmm!"
Clara’s exaggerated clearing of her throat immediately made Ashley turn around.
"Hey, you were exceptional," Clara said as she approached Ashley.
She wanted to hug her wife, but Ashley instinctively took a step backward.
"Wait. You’re going to get dirty."
Ashley was still covered in fake blood from the final scene.
"I don’t care."
Clara didn’t hesitate. She wrapped her arms around Ashley anyway and pulled her into a tight hug.
Ashley laughed as Clara happily held onto her.
"I love seeing you enjoy yourself and grow in what you do," Clara said, gently shaking Ashley in her arms. "But I’m also really happy that it’s finally over. Now I can have you all to myself again."
"Me too. I’m happy it’s over."
Ashley wrapped her arms around Clara’s back.
She then slowly slides her hand downward toward Clara’s backside before suddenly trying to slip a finger between her buttocks through her long dress.
"Ah..."
Clara looked around before whispering,
"You know there’s a camera pointed at us, right?"
Ashley turned her head.
Sure enough, a few cameramen filming behind-the-scenes footage were laughing so hard.
"Oh, God."
Ashley immediately pulled away from Clara, embarrassed.
"I’m going to ask them to cut that part."
After the final scene, the production studio organized a large dinner to celebrate the end of filming.
The entire cast and crew gathered together, talked about their experiences over the past three months, and celebrated the completion of the movie.
Ashley enjoyed the evening, especially because she had become genuinely close to several of her co-stars during the production.
But once the dinner was over, she and Clara boarded a private jet and returned home.
---
At their new house, Clara was repainting their bedroom.
Ashley hadn’t liked the original color, so she had decided that they would repaint it themselves.
Ashley had been supposed to help her.
Unfortunately, Regina called her and asked her to come over, though Clara didn’t know why.
Since the wedding, Regina and Ashley had become extremely close.
In fact, they had become almost too close for Clara’s liking.
Ashley was genuinely happy about it, though.
For the first time in her life, she had someone she could call "Mom."
And Regina seemed happy to have a daughter who genuinely looked up to her and appreciated her, unlike her biological daughter.
Meanwhile, Clara was suffering.
Her arms were already aching from spending hours holding a paint roller.
Unfortunately, Ashley had refused to let her hire a professional.
According to Ashley, there was something special about painting their own home together with love or some shit like that.
After several hours, Ashley finally returned.
Clara was still covered in paint.
"Finally, you’re here," Clara complained.
"You know I love how close you and my mother have become, but I feel neglected."
"Did you tell your mother that you don’t plan on having children yourself?" Ashley asked with a very serious expression.
"What? ... Yes, I may have told her that, but it doesn’t matter since you’re the one who’s going to carry our babies," Clara replied as if it were nothing.
"Yes, but I thought we were both going to do it, taking turns," Ashley admitted.
"No, we never said that. I absolutely want children, but I don’t want to be pregnant. Besides, like I told you, I don’t care if the baby doesn’t share my blood. I’ll love them with all my heart," Clara explained.
Clara had always loved children, but she had never wanted to carry a child herself. That was why she had always considered adoption or having a surrogate mother.
"I know all of that. But it’s very important to your mother that you have a biological child. She even cried when she told me about it," Ashley admitted.
"She did what?!" Clara exclaimed in shock.
"She cried," Ashley repeated.
"My mother cried?" Clara asked incredulously.
Ashley nodded in agreement.
"My mother? The woman who gave birth to me, who didn’t even cry when Dad or I were on the verge of death, cried over some little child being related to her by blood?" Clara asked again, still unable to believe it. She had always thought her mother was almost incapable of showing emotion.
"Yes, she cried," Ashley confirmed.
"No, no. I don’t know who you were talking to, but that couldn’t have been my mother," Clara declared confidently.
"It was definitely her. But we found an idea to solve the problem. I’m going to carry your baby," Ashley announced.
It had been Regina’s idea, but Ashley thought it was a good one. She wanted to have a baby with Clara, and she didn’t want their children to ever be rejected by Clara’s family because they weren’t biologically related to Clara.
"Are you sure this is what you want, and not my mother manipulating you?" Clara asked, wanting to make sure, even though she could clearly see in Ashley’s eyes that she was completely certain.
"Yes, I’m sure. I want to do this not for your mother or for anyone in your family. I want to do it for you and for me," Ashley explained.
"Okay. Then it works for me," Clara said.
Ashley jumped for joy and wanted to hug Clara, but Clara was covered in paint.
Ashley looked at the state of the room and then at her wife.
"I think we should hire a professional," Ashley said, seeing the results of Clara’s work.
"Thank God. I couldn’t take it anymore," Clara said, relieved that she no longer had to do something she had absolutely no skill in.
"You know what would be fun?" Clara asked with a playful smile.
"No. What?" Ashley asked.
Clara walked over to the paint bucket and dipped both of her hands into it.
She then looked at Ashley with a mischievous look.
"No, no, no. Don’t even think about it," Ashley warned as she backed away. She already knew what Clara had in mind.
She tried to run, but the door was closed, and Clara wasn’t far from her. There was no way Ashley’s speed could save her.
"Please, don’t do it. I’m wearing one of my....."
Both of Clara’s paint-covered hands landed on Ashley’s chest, leaving two clear handprints on her white T-shirt.
"Seriously? Couldn’t you be more mature?" Ashley asked.
"No," Clara replied without hesitation before touching Ashley’s cheek and leaving another streak of paint on her face.
"Wait! You’ll see."
Ashley rushed toward the paint bucket and tried to lift it. She intended to pour all the paint over Clara, but Clara immediately grabbed the bucket as well.
They struggled over it for several seconds, both laughing.
Splash!
Ashley lost the fight, and Clara poured all the paint over her head.
"I’m really sorry," Clara apologized as she stepped back, preparing to run.
"No, you’re going to pay for that," Ashley declared before literally throwing herself at Clara, trying to smear the paint all over her.
They fell to the floor.
Since the paint was still fresh, it easily smeared across Clara’s clothes and skin.
After several seconds of struggling on the floor, Ashley finally became too tired to continue and remained there, lying on top of Clara.
"I hate you," Ashley said.
Clara gently moved the damp strands of hair stuck to Ashley’s face.
"I love you," she replied before giving Ashley a soft kiss.
They eventually decided to take a bath so the paint wouldn’t dry on their skin.
In the shower, Clara washed the paint-covered hair of Ashley, who kept her eyes closed to prevent the shampoo from getting into them.
When Ashley opened her eyes again, she found Clara staring deeply into hers.
"You’re really beautiful," Clara said with a completely serious expression.
"You don’t look too bad yourself," Ashley replied teasingly, even though, in her eyes, Clara was the most beautiful woman in the world.
Clara leaned closer and pressed her lips against Ashley’s.
Ashley slowly backed against the shower wall as she noticed the intense look in Clara’s eyes.
Clara moved closer again, wrapping an arm around Ashley’s waist, while Ashley placed her own arm around Clara’s neck.
They kissed passionately, as if they were a new couple discovering each other for the first time, even though they had been together for years.
Yet their desire for each other hadn’t faded.
If anything, it seemed to grow stronger with every passing day.
