On hearing these words Sly Foxx started getting increasingly distressed at the thought of being forcefully separated from Khaldun when they had only just reunited.
Amidst the confusion, Sly trembled.
Despite trying to brush her off Dr. Shirley was steadfastly persistent in trying to gently pry him away from Khaldun.
Khaldun said calmly, "he just started to differentiate into an S-tier omega, he needs S-tier alpha pheromones to tranquilize him because he’s weak and unstable right now. I will leave this room if you can provide him with better quality S-tier pheromones to neutralize Sly’s own chaotic pheromones."
Frustrated, Dr. Shirley snapped, "You know full well that as a Royal Alpha there is currently no other S-tier Alpha for miles around. This is why you should have brought him straight to the emergency room when you saw the signs of differentiation instead of taking it upon yourself to temporarily mark him. Suppose he had an adverse reaction to your scenting? You made a selfish decision that could have jeopardized Sly’s life. So don’t act all smug like you’re doing Sly a favor."
"Are you crazy! You must take me for a complete imbecile," retorted Khaldun. "I was there with him when his heartbeat started beating erratically, his body was overheating and he was bleeding from the nose and the mouth. Was I supposed to watch him burst a blood vessel or two then have Sly die on me while I rushed him to the emergency room. Out on the battlefield we don’t have the luxury of time. I made a decision befitting of my rank as a Royal alpha as you so generously reminded me."
Meanwhile Sly ducked his head and wanted to nestle and hide in the safety of Khaldun’s warmth.
All these raised voices around him made his head pound, he was literally starting to feel a mix of nauseous and dizzy at the sound of their raised voices.
Seriously, what were they talking about?
Couldn’t they all just get along...
Why were they disturbing the tranquility of the morning especially by his bedside of all places couldn’t they take their argument elsewhere?
Thanks to Khaldun another potential calamity had been avoided and the universe righted itself.
Salty savory pheromones were released that soothed Sly’s turbulent waves.
That even Mimosa that was jostled around in Sly’s spiritual sea was relieved that he could put down roots again.
This was the first time that Mimosa didn’t mind the intrusion into Sly’s spirit landscape since he realized that Khaldun was doing his best to help Sly.
By sending out powerful spirit energy and pheromones that calmed the tempestuous heat waves soaring through his veins.
"Okay, everyone calm down," intervened Mr. Howard. "There is no reason to get all heated over this matter. I know we all have good intentions and care about Sly’s well being. Arguing in Sly’s presence while he is in a weakened state is only causing him to feel insecure and unsafe. Which is the opposite of what we all want!"
Disturbed, Sly shook his head.
Instinctively, Khaldun’s hand moved to stroke his scalp like he was ruffling an angry bird’s feathers, feeling soothed Sly calmed down instantly.
Sly’s heartbeat quieted down.
He lay his head on Khaldun’s chest listening to the sound of the alpha’s beating heart that seemed to move in tandem with his own, puzzled about why it seemed so familiar.
This Royal alpha who he never ran into before starting his journey for Paradise Military Academy seemed to know just what to do to alleviate his stress and read him like an open book.
This person seemed to understand Sly just a little too much, it was a bit unnerving.
It kind of felt like they might have known each other in a past life.
Too bad, Sly didn’t have much faith or stock in reincarnations or the transcendence of time.
He could listen to Khaldun’s heartbeat all day, he even started to feel a bit drowsy while carefully cradled in the alpha’s arms.
At some point the warmth Sly had gotten used to had dissipated and the stalker alpha with the crazy eyes was no longer by his bedside.
When Sly finally opened his eyes again he smelled a mix of disinfectant and cucumber melon fragrance.
A familiar face with distinct spiky green hair, sat up perkily in the black armchair next to Sly’s bed.
"Would you like some water?" offered Verde.
"Yes please," mumbled Sly.
His eyes felt crusty, like he overslept and his voice was scratchy.
He wanted a bath but when he remembered what happened the last time he tried to take a bath at Paradise he blushed in embarrassment.
After pouring water out of a silver pitcher into a glass Verde handed over the glass of water to Sly.
Only after watching him take a few sips to see if Sly could manage on his own did Verde start to speak animatedly.
"Wow! Sly, you finally woke the hell up! You had me worried for a moment that I had another funeral to attend soon. Imagine getting ready to escort you to get your books and school supplies and help sort out your classroom schedule only to be called to the campus hospital. You nearly frightened me to death. I kind of felt like it was my fault, like I should have personally escorted you and volunteered to stick around until you were done."
Sly nearly choked on a sip of water.
Verde who always looked so composed and dignified in the arena was practically bursting and pleading with him with his eyes.
Then Sly felt a sudden pain from the back of his neck when he tried to reach over to tap Verde comfortingly.
"Whoa, slow down," muttered Sly irritably. "It’s not your fault. These kinds of things happen to me on a regular basis."
When Sly reached over that’s when Verde, an A-tier alpha, smelled his active omega pheromones mixed with something repulsive and flinched away from his hands.
Startled Sly pulled back his hand, Verde moved from being apologetic to aggressive in an instant.
Sly couldn’t understand the sudden change in emotions.
Almost like a switch had been flicked, not until Verde almost shouted.
"Who gave you a temporary mark?" Verde said angrily. He got up heatedly from the armchair practically tossing it away in outrage. "Was it against your will?"
