Khaldun had never explained his sex life to anyone before and he wouldn’t start now.

Khaldun Wolfe who had finished his private mission assigned by Dean Drakos for his part in the mischief was about to head home to his apartment.

When he overheard the Dean on a frantic private call with mention of Sly’s name repeatedly and Khaldun was taken aback.

The Royal Alpha took a look at the time Khaldun had left Sly around 5am that morning.

If he was still at the lab with Verde and missed classes all day that meant something terrible had happened.

"Damn it."

It seemed like Khaldun wasn’t going to catch a break today.

Khaldun pushed his hair still damp from perspiration from his forehead then stomped out of Dean Drakos office he would track Sly’s coordinates through his spiritwatch and assess the damage.

When Khaldun located Sly he was fast asleep still sitting on the bench where he had been eating, dried plum seed wrapped in drool, still hanging from the corner of Sly’s mouth.

Such a carefree little omega, sleeping peacefully just about anywhere with no concern for his personal safety.

There were times when Khaldun returned spent and exhausted from a mission but he wouldn’t just fall anywhere.

He practiced to have great selfcontrol and would never have allowed himself to be preoccupied with just eating and sleeping unlike Sly.

Khaldun sighed, how had Sly managed to survive for so long on his own was a mystery.

The Royal Alpha didn’t want to frighten the omega out of his sleep so he raised his hand and gently nudged Sly so he could wake.

Sly did not respond, just continued sleeping soundly.

Verde came over and asked icily, "why are you here?*

"I’m taking Sly home," admitted Khaldun civilly.

"Well you can’t, I’m not done with Sly yet," added Verde with frustration, "there are some tests I want my uncle to run and—"

Khaldun cut him off, "those tests can wait. Sly is coming with me."

The Royal Alpha reverted to his usual cold and hard style with the last five words so that the lower tier sentinel would know he stood on business.

After making his intentions clear, Khaldun wasn’t prepared to wait any longer and scooped the little omega in his arms and rested Sly’s head gently against his broad chest.

There was no protest from Sly at having his sleeping place disturbed, Sly only snuggled closer to a familiar body heat and smiled in his sleep.

Khaldun’s gaze made Verde become even more incensed, those mismatched eyes with that perpetually sardonic smirk that lingered on the lips, Verde hated it all.

It seemed that even in his sleep Sly chose Khaldun but Verde who sported a shocked and unbelievable look on his face wasn’t planning to back down on his stance without a fight.

"Stop acting like Sly is your personal possession, you don’t own him. Don’t you have some of those private parties that only royals go to attend or some mission to destroy some monsters for Dean Drakos!"

Royal alpha or not , Verde didn’t trust that Khaldun’s intentions for Sly were good and Sly could just be under the influence of Khaldun’s temporary mark.

Under the influence Sly wouldn’t be able to recognize the intimate feelings for Khaldun weren’t real, he was just being deceived by the mark of the beast.

Khaldun was a jerk, he wanted to rip Sly out of his hand and scream for Khaldun to leave his uncle’s place, but screaming at Khaldun would only fall on deaf ears.

Feeling annoyed because Verde was blocking the path and he didn’t want to wake Sly, some of Khaldun’s irritation deepened.

Sly interrupted them softly, "Verde stop. Khaldun, let’s go home."

After Sly had spoken, without another word Verde turned around and walked away.

Close to his chest, cradling Sly in his arms, Khaldun shot upwards towards the sky, the sentinel soared effortlessly through the air.

An invisible spirit energy shield deflected the friction of their ascent, keeping the air around them perfectly calm.

"Whoa!" Giggled Sly. "You could have warned me."

Gravity lost its hold as a faint, shimmering aura of spirit energy wrapped around their bodies.

Despite the cool of the rushing wind, Sly felt no turbulence.

Below them, the ground falls away into a miniature toy model of streets and lights.

"Why should I? It would be giving you the opportunity to protest."

Khaldun’s expression was focused but serene, he controlled their trajectory with just mere thoughts.

They glide seamlessly through the clouds, the only sound the quiet hum of spirit energy cutting through the sky.

Why did it feel like it was Sly being influenced by the pheromones through the temporary mark instead of Khaldun who remained calm?
