Chapter 2077 - 2078: Thoughts of LongingWhen Yang Fei saw the woman on the Nine-Headed Hydra's back, his face instantly turned pale with shock.
"Lilith? What's going on?"
He turned around, looking at Mad Blade, confusion and questioning both in his eyes.
Mad Blade was also stunned, muttering to himself.
"Impossible, she clearly died in the sea of fire, how could she come back from the dead?"
Suddenly confronted with such a terrifying monster, countless disciples of the Doomsday Tribunal scattered in every direction.
Large amounts of rocks and sand on the island collapsed, burying those disciples beneath them.
At the same time, the gigantic Nine-Headed Hydra rose up from deep underground, splitting the land into countless unfathomable chasms.
Many disciples of the Doomsday Tribunal, while running, plunged headfirst into those cracks and never crawled back out.
In an instant, the casualties were innumerable, misery and wails filled the land.
At this moment, Lilith's eyes were already fixed on Mad Blade and Yang Fei.
Right now, Lilith's pupils had turned into silver-white Cross Stars, and a vast, sweeping Divine Might was radiating from her body.
She stood atop the mountain-like head of the Nine-Headed Hydra, expressionlessly watching Mad Blade and Yang Fei.
Her voice sounded like some sort of electronic mechanical synthesis, without the slightest hint of emotion, neither sorrow nor joy.
"You two God Defilers are quite bold. Kneel before me."
The vast Will of Heaven and Earth was transmitted through this voice, pressing down on Yang Fei and Mad Blade like Mount Tai crushing down.
In that moment, Yang Fei and Mad Blade both felt a tremendous pressure.
This voice seemed to represent the heavens, represent the earth, represent the will of tens of billions of living beings.
It felt as if, if they did not obey this voice, some unimaginable horror would happen.
Mad Blade was an unruly, defiant man; even if the Lord of Heaven descended, he could still curse and spit a few times.
Yet right now, he only felt his knees go weak, his mind go blank, and he could not help but fall to his knees with a thud.
Though Mad Blade's heart was fiercely resisting, that resistance was useless.
Yang Fei, however, still stood ramrod straight where he was; from Lilith's perspective, he was even smaller than a real ant.
Yet it was precisely such an ant that dared to face Lilith's Will of the World head-on.
His entire body exuded a wild, lawless aura that brooked no submission.
Lilith couldn't help letting out a cold snort.
"An ant is an ant—an ignorant, foolish thing. Just to oppose me, you don't even want your life?"
As she spoke, Yang Fei activated his Wind and Fire Wings, his whole body shooting forward like an arrow loosed from the string, streaking straight toward Lilith atop the Nine-Headed Hydra.
He gripped his Mithril Spear tightly in his hand; the spear tip traced out a streak of crimson flame, like a white rainbow piercing the sun.
Lilith was on the Nine-Headed Hydra's back, the Cross Star in her eyes never leaving Yang Fei, her gaze filled solely with cold indifference.
Although Yang Fei's offensive shook heaven and earth, in Lilith's eyes it was nothing at all.
The Nine Extremes turned within Yang Fei's body, gathering all his strength onto the Silver Spear.
Behind him, Heaven and Earth Vital Energy formed a long tail of flame.
It looked as though Yang Fei was about to run Lilith through and pierce her heart.
Just then, Lilith extended a single finger and lightly tapped the tip of Yang Fei's Mithril Spear.
Boom!
With a sharp explosive sound, Yang Fei felt an unimaginably vast power crash head-on into him, heavy as a mountain, impossible to resist and impossible to dodge.
His body flew out like a kite with its string cut, smashing away, while the Mithril Spear in his hand bent into a carpenter's square, warped out of shape.
The blood in Yang Fei's chest burst out of his mouth, his head buzzed, and his vision went dark.
Bang!
With a dull thud, Yang Fei crashed into the lake.
Dozens of zhang-high waves surged skyward, as if a shell had exploded at the bottom of the water.
The water crests rose to their highest, then came cascading down, like a heavy rain pouring from the sky.
Amid this torrential downpour, Yang Fei floated up from the lakebed, his face pale.
The Phoenix Wings at his ribs were still blazing fiercely, sending up great billows of white mist from the water's surface.
Yang Fei had never seen a person's power reach such a level; calling it the power to split heaven and earth would not be an exaggeration.
He was at least a Three Levels of Spirit Martial Arts expert now, yet in front of this Lilith, he didn't even have the strength to fight back.
The terror contained in just a single finger of Lilith's strength was beyond belief.
Lilith sat on the Nine-Headed Hydra's back; seeing Yang Fei actually emerge from the depths of the lake, she was a bit surprised.
She slowly extended a hand and pressed it down toward Yang Fei.
In the void, countless Water Elements rapidly gathered together, forming an enormous hand, crystal clear, shimmering with azure radiance that flowed endlessly.
Yang Fei looked up and saw a colossal palm appear in the sky, like a mountain slowly pressing down from above.
Yang Fei knew Lilith had completely inherited the Doomsday Goddess's will and could not be confronted by brute force; his figure flickered as he flew off into the distance.
However, not far away, the lake waters surged up, forming one enormous palm after another that closed in on Yang Fei.
Even more frightening, these mountain-like giant palms formed a Force Field among themselves.
Within this Force Field, Yang Fei was like a fly sealed in Amber, frozen in place, unable to move.
With Yang Fei's current strength, there was simply no way to contend with a Deity; he quickly activated the Conferred God Monument.
This Conferred God Monument had originally been entrusted to Yang Fei by Zeus before his death; with no other options, Yang Fei immediately brought it out.
Under Yang Fei's intent, the Conferred God Monument suddenly shot out a beam of golden light.
That golden light sank into Yang Fei's glabella, forming an amber-colored Vertical Eye.
The Heavenly Palace's first Dharma Protector Deity, Yang Jian, was actually summoned forth by Yang Fei.
His Martial Will poured continuously into Yang Fei's mind.
Then another yellow beam of light shot into Yang Fei's glabella.
Yang Fei froze for a moment; it was the Martial Will of the Thunder God.
Perhaps because of Lilith's immense pressure, countless rays of golden light burst from the Conferred God Monument, all converging into Yang Fei's body.
The Martial Wills of the 365 proper gods of the Heavenly Palace all flowed into Yang Fei's mind.
These proper gods' Martial Wills turned into a tangled mess in Yang Fei's head, colliding and fusing with one another.
All of a sudden, Yang Fei dimly grasped a few truths.
A person's strength is ultimately finite, while the power of the heavens, earth, and stars is infinite.
Yet even Taiyang will eventually burn out and become a black hole.
So the one that possesses the greatest strength is not Taiyang, but the rules that govern the universe.
These rules were called the Tao by the Great Masters of the Ancient Cultivation World.
The world is vast, and the strong are as numerous as forests.
The strongest person is merely someone who has grasped the rules of the Tao and learned how to use them.
It's like on a soccer field: no matter how strong or technically skilled the players are, they still must abide by the rules of soccer.
The ones who set and command those rules are the truly strongest.
For example, the referee!
