"I should have thought of that..."

The personalities of the Seven Sins witches were all the opposite of the sins they represented. Veronica was so innocent—she really could very well be the Lust Witch.

"What's wrong?"

Veronica noticed the change in Loren's mood and asked with concern.

"Nothing, I just remembered something happy."

Loren cupped Veronica's face and rubbed her cheeks.

So far, he had gathered all the Seven Sins witches except for the last one.

The Gluttony Witch Anna, the Jealousy Witch Scarlett, the Greed Witch Movila, the Pride Witch Cecelia, the Sloth Witch Paqina, and the Lust Witch Veronica.

He still lacked the Wrath Witch, the one with the highest stats.

"Cheat..."

Hearing that she was supposed to cheat, Veronica grew flustered.

Not because she was scared—simply because her moral standards were too high. She had lived this long without stealing anything valuable, let alone cheating.

Loren knew he would need to slowly educate her.

Kindness was a good thing, but kind people weren't suited for this world.

"Don't worry, we'll only take ill-gotten gains. If the casino cheats first, then we'll cheat too."

"By the same logic, you can take the pirates' money freely, and take the nobles' money depending on the situation."

Anyone who became a pirate in this world wasn't a good person. People who set sail for adventure were called adventurers.

Of course, some were forced onto pirate ships, but those people had no money worth stealing either.

Veronica nodded, half-understanding. Loren then taught her a truth he had said to every witch:

"Remember, if you don't eliminate the wicked, they will harm the good."

After saying this, Loren walked into the casino.

Veronica pondered his words and followed behind him.

The casino was lively. Nearest to the entrance was the roulette wheel, with slot machines beside it.

The slot machines were purely mechanical, without electricity. During wartime, it was even harder for other countries to get electricity.

The most popular attraction was the card tables nearby, already packed with people.

But the most eye-catching was a small table in the middle. The gambling equipment there was the simplest: just a revolver and a box of bullets.

Russian roulette.

None of these were Loren's targets, though. He had promised Veronica he wouldn't cheat first, so he planned to start with the slot machines.

He didn't need to cheat here—just relied on his reflexes.

Loren exchanged his remaining five silver coins for chips in one-silver denominations. He inserted one coin into the slot machine, cracked his knuckles, and pulled the lever.

"Back in the day, Chen Daozai turned twenty bucks into thirty-seven million. Me turning five hundred silver into a hundred million today shouldn't be a problem."

Before starting, Loren shouted a line. He just needed to attract attention, make the casino realize something was off about him, and then they'd either cheat or make a move against him directly.

How much money could gambling make? Loren was just looking for an excuse to rob the place outright.

Loren's words drew the other gamblers closer. Just then, Loren pulled the lever, and the first drum stopped on the number 7.

"Ohhh!"

The surrounding gamblers burst into cheers. They had only come to watch the fun, never expecting Loren to actually have some skill.

Soon, a second 7 appeared on the slot machine, and the gamblers' cheers grew louder.

Since they couldn't laugh at Loren's failure, watching him drain the casino's money was just as good.

They had all lost more or less to the casino, so seeing the house take a loss delighted them.

Experiencing such an enthusiastic atmosphere for the first time, Veronica felt a little scared. She huddled close to Loren, only finding some peace of mind when leaning against him.

Under the gamblers' burning gazes, Loren pulled the lever a third time, and a third 7 appeared.

"Ohhh!"

The gamblers erupted into cheers that bordered on screams. It was the first time they had ever seen such a scene.

They looked at Loren as if he were a god.

This mechanically structured slot machine had its limits—at most three drums, and at most one hundred and fifty times the bet.

"Alright, one hundred and fifty times. One hundred and fifty silver coins. Pay up."

Unlike the frenzied gamblers, Loren remained very calm. The casino staff looked as if they had eaten shit, their faces dark, but they had no choice but to pay Loren since so many people were watching.

"Okay, let's continue."

Loren calmly inserted a new chip into the slot machine. This time, he put in a chip worth one gold coin. If Loren won, that would be one hundred and fifty gold coins. The gamblers grew even more fanatical.

Just like before, Loren skillfully pulled the lever, and a 7 appeared on the machine.

While the gamblers cheered, the casino staff began to panic. They scurried around and eventually brought in a higher-up.

At the higher-up's signal, a casino employee pretended to casually pass behind the slot machine. By then, Loren had already rolled a second 7.

Loren knew the slot machine had been tampered with, so when the third number wasn't 7 and the gamblers sighed in disappointment, he remained extremely calm:

"The casino cheated. It was supposed to stop on 7, but suddenly jumped to the next number."

"Do you have proof? If you keep slandering our casino, we'll have to take some measures."

By then, the casino higher-up stepped forward, dressed in a suit and tie, clearly not low-ranking.

"So, without proof, it's not considered cheating, huh?"

"... "

The casino staff said nothing, essentially acknowledging the rule by default.

"Good, I've been waiting for this."

Loren grabbed the remaining fifty silver coins' worth of chips and sat down at the edge of the roulette wheel.

After Loren's earlier feat, the gamblers crowded around the roulette table immediately made room for him.

Wherever Loren went, the casino staff followed. He was just too suspicious—they had to keep an eye on him at all times, or things could go wrong.

The roulette rules were simple. There was a wooden wheel with thirty-eight slots, divided into black and red colors, numbered 0 to 37.

The dealer spun the wooden wheel and tossed a small ball in. When the wheel stopped, the ball would land in one of the slots.

You could bet on colors, on odd/even, or on specific numbers. The numbers had the highest payout.

Loren tapped the table, feeling it. Both the roulette wheel and the table were wooden, meaning they could be controlled with Abundant Magic.

Abundant Magic wasn't wood magic. Controlling dead wood was difficult, but not impossible. With Loren's skill level, it was easily achievable.

"All in on 0."

Loren's choice was simple. He directly placed all his fifty silver chips on 0.

Seeing this, the other gamblers also followed Loren's bet.

But the first time, they didn't bet much—just a little to test the waters.

"I'll bet five gold coins."

Just before the dealer started, a withered hand placed a five-gold-coin chip on 0. Her fingers were painted with bright red nail polish.

Loren looked at the owner of that hand. It was a woman in a red dress, her skin pale to the point of being sickly, as if she weren't alive. Her lips, covered in vivid red lipstick, made her seem even more eerie.
