Project Alice-02 (8)

The White Knight.

An Apostle of the Evil God, and the one among the Four Knights of the Apocalypse that governed plagues.

In the original, it was also the central boss of the Second Calamity, White Night.

[Title: White Knight <- Is This Bastard Actually Insane?][Author: indigoadegodnewspaperlove]

I'm a newbie on my first run

I kept trying to push through, but I can't take it anymore, so I'm asking

White Night <- how the hell are you supposed to clear this?

It's early in the story, but this difficulty makes no sense

Especially that boss monster, it's way too strong

The fucking White Knight

I got through the First Calamity pretty well, and I raised my party members insanely well too, so does it make sense for all of them to get one-shot?

It's not like there are flashy effects or some intense battle scene either. The White Knight just points at someone with its finger and they die

I keep retrying, but there's no answer

When the White Knight points at a party member, they suddenly freeze up.

Some disease name pops up as a status ailment marker, but it's mosaicked, so I can't even see it.

Then they get instant-killed a few seconds later.

It's just that pattern over and over, fuck

I've tried getting help from the faculty too, but I still can't clear it

Since it's an Apostle of the Evil God, I even tried making a party with only kids majoring in divine energy, but that didn't work either...

Is there some other strategy for this?

How did everyone get through this so smoothly...

[This guy is a real newbie]

-> Lewd smell, sniiiiiiff

[Why is the post so erotic]

-> Uheuheu

-> Shouldn't this be marked 19+?

-> Ehehe, newbie-chan, grope grope...

[How are you still stuck when the strategy has been out forever?]

-> If you searched for the strategy in the time it took to write this post, you would've cleared it five times by now

-> indigoadegodnewspaperlove) Waaah... Baby newbie doesn't know that stuff

-> Fuck, this wasn't a newbie, it was a lazy question-beggar bitch.

[It is hard if you don't know the strategy.]

-> First of all, the White Knight's ability is absurdly overpowered

-> It's the Apostle that governs plagues, and it can control every plague that has ever existed in the world

-> When the White Knight's finger points at a living creature, one disease is applied to the target unconditionally

-> Which one gets applied is random. They say the person who contracted with the White Knight usually decides, but most people would pick something horrible with a high fatality rate.

-> Diseases that cause instant death are used especially often.

-> Once the White Knight has already pointed at someone, there's nothing the player can do to respond.

-> indigoadegodnewspaperlove) The more I hear, the less I understand how I'm supposed to win

-> Nope, it's simpler than you think. Put one professor who majors in sorcery in your party.

-> indigoadegodnewspaperlove) That's it?

-> Yeah, because sorcery is how you counter the White Knight.

-> It's unusual because, even though it's an Apostle, its roots are on the sorcery side.

-> So if you bring in a sorcery powerhouse at professor level or above, they can counter it.

-> indigoadegodnewspaperlove) Wait, that's way simpler than I thought

-> But professors from other majors won't work. It has to be a sorcerer with a ton of experience.

-> Personally, I recommend Professor Jelpentin.

-> If you just bring them along in the party, they'll probably handle it on their own.

-> indigoadegodnewspaperlove) thx thx, I'll try it right away.

Even though it appeared early in the original story, it left a deep impression on players.

Its absurd strength carved itself deep into many players' minds.

Of course, once the gimmick was figured out, it fell off into a boss that was not particularly difficult.

Even so, the overwhelming pressure of that first encounter was so vivid that it became known among players as a named Apostle.

An Apostle of the Evil God.

They appeared especially often as stage bosses.

Among players, they were strongly seen as the main branch of the villains.

Each one varied wildly in strength and appearance, but one thing was always the same. They were hostile to the protagonist's side.

In short, absolute evil.

Naturally, the player could not interact with Apostles.

[Title: I Picked This Up, Where Am I Supposed to Use It?]

[Author: mainwifeisinhayun]

I picked up something interesting while wiping out a Cultist Branch

It looks like some kind of book, and it says it's a medium that lets you make a contract with an Apostle of the Evil God?

The description says you can summon an Apostle

How do I use this?

Can I command an Apostle too?

Can I fire off Furube yura yura?

[Oh, that's interesting]

-> The drop rate for that should be low, nice job getting it

[Unfortunately, you can't use that]

-> It's written in the item description in the first place. It's restricted unless you're in the Cultist faction

-> mainwifeisinhayun) Then why let me obtain something I can't even use...

-> Well, it's still good to obtain it. If you have it, the Cultists can't summon it, right?

-> mainwifeisinhayun) Oh, true

[You can't use it through normal routes]

-> But it's possible if you use a bug

-> mainwifeisinhayun) fr??

-> Yeah, there's a bug the bug-hunting game community found

-> Getting the required items is a bit rough, but it's worth trying at least once

"Whew..."

Memories flickered through my head.

After one thin breath, I carefully lifted my eyelids.

<------!>

Death floated above my head.

A beast hundreds of meters long was swimming down through the sky.

It was not sacred enough to be called a dragon, and its presence was too overwhelming to be called a serpent, so I called it a beast.

[Name: Leviathan(Project Leviathan).]

-Race: Chimera

-Classification: Boss Monster

-Description: You must run.

The highlight of this stage.

If we failed to stop it here, that absurd beast would destroy every nearby coastal city.

'That's not happening.'

Clatter.

Pages turned with a rough rasp.

I looked down at the item in my hand, the Apostle Contract.

Ding-!

[This item cannot be used.]

Even as I turned the pages, only that message shimmered before my eyes.

An item that could not be interacted with unless the user was on the Cultists' side.

In the current situation, it should have been completely useless.

But I had a way to break through that restriction.

'Required items.'

I searched inside my clothes.

What I pulled from deep in my robe were glass bottles filled with murky liquid.

Ding-!

[Contaminated Holy Water]

-Classification: Residue

-Grade: C-

-Status: Contaminated

-Description: A byproduct of Holy Water left over after purifying something. It no longer shines as it once did because impure energy has mixed into it. It does not seem especially useful.

The Undead Dragon's Scale I had obtained on Purgatory Floor 70.

This was the byproduct left over after purifying that item.

Something I had kept for a moment like this.

I opened the lids one by one and poured every last drop of the contents of the glass bottles over my head.

'Good.'

After that, I raised the murderous aura of the mask to its maximum.

I raised the output, then lowered it, repeating the process.

Back and forth exactly five times in a precise rhythm.

Right after that, the message before my eyes began to crackle.

'Did it work?'

A bug that caused an error in the judgment.

My vision swam.

For a brief moment, I left my faction and was recognized as a person on the Cultists' side.

As I swallowed down the nausea churning in my stomach, the message shimmering over the pages changed.

Ding-!

[This item can be used!]

A perfect flow.

Without hesitation, I called forth the end.

A handprint stamped itself onto the contract, and soon a scarlet flash burst out from the book.

"Fulfill it."

Even amid that chaos, there was not the slightest tremor in me.

Only one dry line slipped between my lips.

The next moment, the contract written in the book was fulfilled.

Before me stood a large figure, a knight wrapped in pure white armor.

Ding-!

[Name: The White Knight]

-Race: ■■■, ■■

-Description: ■■ ■ ■■■ ■ ■■ ■■■.

One of the Four Knights of the Apocalypse.

The white knight that governed plagues.

An Apostle of the Evil God.

'White Night.'

The being that had descended.

It felt quite different from The Red Knight I had faced during practical training, or The Black Knight that had appeared during the eclipse event.

The previous knights had been large enough to tower easily over several floors of a building, but The White Knight was somewhat small.

At most, was it a little over 2.5 meters tall?

It was larger than an ordinary person, but it did not feel especially overwhelming.

Its shape was strangely faint too, almost like a mass of fog.

Still, the armor it wore was the same as the other Knights of the Apocalypse.

<Wait, that is...>

OZ was sprawled on the floor.

For the first time, panic mixed into the man's voice.

Looking down at that smooth face, I let out a short sneer.

"I hope you anticipated even this."

As if that were possible.

OZ only stared blankly up at me.

"White Knight."

Clank.

The knight that governed plagues looked at me.

As if responding to my command, it moved in step with me.

"To the fleeting, a disease. To those who covet life, punishment."

The only way to deal with The White Knight was a sorcerer at professor level or above.

The Academy had plenty of people with sorcery-related abilities.

The faculty of Grandia was made up of people gathered from the front lines of every field, after all.

The reason the casualties in White Night had been limited to a few dozen students in the story was that the Academy had made that miracle possible.

'But.'

This was not the Academy.

Here, there was only a mage and one giant freshwater eel.

Clank.

The finger of the white armor pointed at the sky.

At the same time, the beast with its jaws open froze.

[The target is paralyzed!]

-Disease Name: ■■■■■

-Description: The muscles throughout the body become paralyzed. When a creature afflicted by this disease has its ■■ become ■■■, it is ■■■■■■.

Leviathan froze in midair just like that.

The White Knight's [Plague] had been applied.

The displayed disease name could not even be pronounced.

It was surely one of the names of diseases that had existed in the ancient past.

Thud.

Thanks to that, the beast had become a floating buoy.

Even while looking up at it, I suddenly smiled.

'Perfect.'

Because I had thought of an interesting disease.

I raised my finger again.

As if matching my movement, The White Knight aimed its finger into the air.

Countless disease names overlapped in my head, and one of them dyed my vision blue.

Ding-!

[The target will be ■■■ ■■!]

-Disease Name: ■■■

-Description: A disease found in some ancient records. Creatures afflicted by this disease experience their intercellular cohesion weakening, suffering the pain of their entire body being torn to pieces. At the same time, their body splits straight in half lengthwise. It was a bizarre disease that existed in ancient times, but in the modern era, it has been eradicated and only records remain.]

The beast was caught at the end of my finger.

Looking at it, I muttered a line like a spell.

"Split in half and die."

Crack, crunch!

The next moment,

the thing floating above my head was ripped apart mercilessly.
