Lunar Eclipse (9)
Lunar Eclipse.
Even among the early events in the original story, this one was treated as especially important.
It was the turning point where the New Kingdom began moving in earnest, igniting conflict between humans and vampires.
‘After Lunar Eclipse, the game’s tone got way darker...’
It was the first event in the story where casualties reached the thousands.
Later, it also laid the groundwork for the “Fourth Calamity, Red Night.”
There was no strategy for clearing it.
It was an event designed to be uncleared from the start.

I’m a new player, still on my first run
I just got to the [Lunar Eclipse] event
But no matter how many times I retry, I can’t figure out how to beat it, so I’m asking here
How the hell are you supposed to kill this field boss??
Jersian <- this guy is absurdly strongAnd you don’t even play as the main character, you have to play as some random villager.
No usable weapons either
The best thing you can get is a club you pick up at the corner of the market
How are you supposed to kill vampires with this? Even taking down one ghoul is hard...
And if you fail the time limit, all the villagers die, and some “war weapon” gets summoned
Everyone gets torn apart alive, then dragged off somewhere
The scene was way more brutal than I expected, it made me sick...
Apostle of the Evil God?
Then suddenly someone called [The Black Knight] gets summoned, and it absorbs all the villagers’ human flesh
After that Jersian mutters, “The weapon is complete,” and I die too.
The screen turns bright red and this line pops up
After that, the Colossus wipes out the whole area
I’ve repeated this process god knows how many times now
If anyone knows how to clear this, please tell me...
[It’s normal that you can’t clear that]
-> Why are you so obsessed with clearing something made to be unclearable lol
[It’s one of those forced-loss events you see in games]
-> You can’t clear it no matter what you do
-> SorryForHiatus) Wait, this can’t be cleared?
-> Yeah, if you just leave it, a cutscene plays and it moves to the next episode automatically.
-> SorryForHiatus) Ah fck, I kept mashing retry every time it looked like I was gonna fail ;;;
-> How impatient are you? If the difficulty feels weird, just wait a bit lol
[Bug-finding game guy cleared it though]
-> You again...?
-> How the hell did you clear this one too...
-> What kind of bullshit bug did you use this time...
-> Truly the entomologist GOAT who follows Parv...
-> SorryForHiatus) What the hell is bug-finding game, you nerds
It was an event designed from the start not to be cleared.
Players experienced the episode from the perspective of one of the villagers.
A barrier sealed off the town, ghouls flooded the streets, and humans were used in the vampires’ Sacrificial Rite.
‘The player wasn’t even given a proper weapon.’
Under those conditions, clearing the episode was impossible.
In the end, the New Kingdom’s weapon was completed, and everyone trapped inside the barrier was massacred.
It did not stop there. The Colossus then moved on to nearby villages and carried out a large-scale slaughter.
The screen filled with screams and carnage.
Meanwhile.
Far from that location, at Grandia Academy.
The protagonist’s group went about their daily lives without knowing anything.
The camera zoomed in on them once.
Peaceful daily life, set against calamity.
It was direction that seemed to foreshadow the disaster to come.
With a brightly smiling Ranne as the final shot, the screen faded to black, and the episode ended.
‘It was a core event in Part 1, especially.’
RGM.
(Not “your mom,” no.)
Part 1 of the original covered the first-year and second-year story arcs.
Even though this was just a bridge episode, not a calamity itself, its implications were huge.
It was also the first episode to reveal that the New Kingdom and the Cultists were cooperating.
‘Apostle of the Evil God.’
Jersian had called in an Apostle for the Sacrificial Rite.
At the same time, he layered vampire authority onto it, creating a weapon wrapped in human flesh.
Players were shocked too.
[Title: New Kingdom <- were they buddies with the Cultists?][Author:IWillUpdateConsistently]
Why are the Four Knights of the Apocalypse showing up here?
They summon it like it belongs to them, then straight-up use it as chimera fusion material?
Then with Jersian’s authority added on top, it even evolves into [Pureblood Black Knight], what is this...
Were those Apostles of the Evil God always things that could evolve too?
I mean sure, both sides are villains, but I never thought they’d actually join hands
Especially vampires, they’re always going on about being nobles and all that, so I figured they’d look down on Cultists or the Evil God
Guess all that classy talk was just talk...
[How are those guys nobles? lol]
-> Once the Human Ranch story comes out, you won’t think that anymore
{They had no choice but to be allies}
-> In the first place, they only overthrew the old dynasty and founded the New Kingdom with help from the Cultists
-> IWillUpdateConsistently) fr?
-> Yeah, if they’d tried that coup on their own, they never would’ve succeeded
-> The old king was crazy strong, so if the Cultists hadn’t backed them, the traitors would’ve been wiped out.
-> IWillUpdateConsistently) How strong are we talking?
[They say the old king was top five in all vampire history]
-> The setting book says SS- rank.
-> Probably enough to beat three Javerts at once.
-> IWillUpdateConsistently) Wait, what kind of monster is 3 Javerts then
-> IWillUpdateConsistently) And the New Kingdom took that down?
-> Yeah, people assume there was some kind of contract with the Cultists during that process...
[The bug-finding game bro cleared it]
-> This is a story analysis post, what do you mean cleared
-> Sigh... the primate GOAT who even clears analyses
-> You again...?
-> Here come the insane bug fanboys again
Lunar Eclipse.
That was how critical a turning point it was for vampires.
But now, it had become something that never happened.
“Well... I evacuated everyone.”
The line came out like mockery.
I had smuggled out every sacrifice meant for the rite.
From the cathedral where The Black Knight should have awakened, no news came at all.
I wiped the blood off my mask and looked down at Jersian, lying there in despair.
“So? How does it feel to have your plan blown away completely?”
“......”
The deep night sky.
There was no moon in it.
Lunar Eclipse, the time of year when holiness was weakest.
Even with the moon hidden in the continent’s shadow, the calamity the vampires wanted never came.
“That so-called war weapon of yours, you never even got to use it.”
Pureblood Black Knight.
A field boss that should have caused thousands of casualties.
But because I stepped in, it became an event that never happened.
“Thoughts?”
Tap, tap.
I lightly prodded his face with the baseball bat I held out.
Seeing that stupid expression, my fingers tensed on their own.
“I’m curious. Mind answering me?”
Smash! Thwack!
Blood splattered onto the mask I had just cleaned.
Since when was repetitive work this rewarding?
I smiled, refreshed.
“How does it feel? Posing all cool, then slipping flat on your face?”
“How... how did you...”
“How what?”
“Our, ngh, plan... the rite, how...”
“Ah, you mean how I knew your plan?”
It must have shocked him badly.
Even with blood bubbling in his throat, Jersian trembled as he asked.
I brought the bat down one more time and answered.
“Why would I tell you that?”
“......”
“Got no mom? Go home and ask there.”
“How, dare...”
“Shut it.”
Smack!
I beat him a few more times.
Jersian only twitched weakly.
Maybe because all four limbs had been cut off, he couldn’t resist at all.
“Whew...”
This should be enough revenge for our princess.
I pulled back the blood-soaked bat.
“Activate. Gauntlet.”
The pitch-black bat melted and wrapped around my hand.
Then Wiggles neatly reorganized itself.
The recoil was finally starting to hit my body.
‘Yeah, I definitely overdid it.’
The nausea after Nightmarification still wouldn’t go away.
My Agility had suddenly been inflated to B- rank.
My movements had become much sharper, but my body couldn’t withstand the load.
Compared to one standout stat, everything else was too pathetic, and this was the result.
‘Muscle pain...’
My whole body ached.
I wanted to collapse on the spot, but my shallow pride wouldn’t allow it.
I couldn’t act pathetic in front of this guy.
I had to make him fully accept that he’d been utterly crushed.
After taking a deep breath, I gently rubbed my numb arm.
‘I can’t even move a finger.’
The ultimate five minutes.
The recoil was even worse than I’d expected.
As I groaned through the stiffness, a dying voice came from near my feet.
“I... lost... to a human...”
Did he hate it that much?
Jersian was even shedding tears of blood.
“Ugh, gurk...”
“Don’t move. You’ll be dead soon anyway.”
“How dare... I, a pureblood vampire, and a mere human...”
Crushed lips.
A hollow laugh slipped out between them like a cough.
As if he had truly gone mad, his eyes were rolled back.
“Ha, haha...”
Creeeep.
Strangely, black mist began gathering over here.
No, to be exact, it was rising from Jersian.
As if his life force were leaking out, as if he were deliberately spilling it onto the floor.
‘......What?’
I frowned at that sense of wrongness.
Did Jersian always vanish like this?
Even I, who had dug deep into the original, had never seen this kind of reaction before.
“Now... I don’t care anymore...”
