"That’s enough."
In response, Su Zhou replied simply, then accelerated again. He crossed a street and could see the majestic, solemn Duke’s Mansion behind its layers of walls.
Gazing at the building, his eyes flashed with eagerness. "It’s a shame the enemy isn’t Elite High Rank. Otherwise, this training would be more effective."
Elias: "Training?"
「Meanwhile.」
Inside the Duke’s Mansion in Naisel City.
A Mage who had been meditating received an urgent report from his subordinate and emerged from his seclusion chamber.
He had long, seaweed-like, dark-green hair and an aged face. On the middle finger of his left hand, he wore a silver ring inlaid with a massive sapphire. Within the gemstone, ripples surged like an ocean tide. This Mage’s pupils were also unusual—they were W-shaped, like a cuttlefish’s.
"Are you telling me that Old Anda and his group have been completely wiped out? Several Formal Professionals, over a dozen mercenaries and veteran bandits, all annihilated by someone bare-handed before they could even sound an alarm."
He asked his apprentice, who was also his subordinate, in a low, complicated tone, "And then, just now, an unidentified powerhouse of Elite High Rank wielding a High-tier Divine Object suddenly appeared in the city? He brazenly attacked our soldiers for no reason and is now charging straight for the Duke’s Mansion to assault our position head-on?"
"Yes, Teacher Delron," the Mage reporting the news answered respectfully. "However, it wasn’t for no reason. Our scouts say that the Elite Professional attacked because he saw our men using overly cruel methods to interrogate civilians who might have had contact with the heir of the Naisel family."
The old Mage did not reply immediately, seemingly lost in thought.
After a moment of silence, he asked in a low voice:
"Are you certain this isn’t a contingency plan from Duke Naisel?"
"If the Duke had a card like that up his sleeve, we never would have been able to break into Naisel City, Teacher."
"So you’re saying he’s an Elite powerhouse from out of town, just passing through, with no connection to the Naisel family or even the locals."
Summarizing thus, the Mage named Delron frowned deeply, his tone utterly bewildered. "In short, he’s charging in to kill people just because our men were interrogating civilians?"
"Yes." The apprentice also lowered his head in confusion. Blood was still dripping from his hands, as if he had just come from an interrogation site. "According to the on-site report, the family didn’t die. The interrogating soldier held back, intending to bring them back for you to question."
"Right. So our men hadn’t even killed anyone, and he comes over and starts killing people? And he’s not even a local, just some passing Wilderness Wanderer?"
At this, it was hard to describe the old Mage’s expression. He stroked the gemstone on his ring, from which faint wails could be heard, and muttered to himself in confusion, ’Are we the evil ones, or is he?!’
At that very moment, having reached the city center and the vicinity of the Duke’s Mansion, Su Zhou had once again drawn the Blade of Annihilation from his waist.
Just moments ago, he—a man who never bothered with doors—had crossed the city’s central plaza and shattered the outer wall of the Duke’s Mansion with a single punch. Along the way, Su Zhou saw that the area around the Naisel Duke’s Mansion was filled with hanging corpses.
Most of the bodies belonged to ordinary people who had clearly endured all kinds of interrogation and torture before death. Afterward, their corpses were publicly displayed, serving as both a warning and a deterrent.
The vast majority of these people were ordinary folk who had once been close to the Naisel family. Some had worked in the Duke’s Mansion, a connection that had formerly brought them many conveniences but had now brought them great disaster.
But regardless, ordinary people—not even Transcendents—shouldn’t have to die so horribly. ’Unnecessary.’
Who were the real evil people? For Delron Mage and his side, this question might have held some suspense. But if Su Zhou had heard it, his answer would have been simple.
He was, without a doubt, on the side of justice.
—Standing up for ordinary strangers, fighting for adventurers he’d just met, killing the evil people he wanted to kill, and destroying the factions he wanted to destroy.
To do as he pleased in this Otherworld...
"Now *that’s* what makes it interesting!"
BOOM— Standing before the mansion’s main gate, Su Zhou sneered and swung his blade. Flowing light and flame formed a translucent edge, slashing directly at the entire building. The blazing inferno distorted the air so intensely that smoke began to rise from nothing. ’Only a fool would enter an unfamiliar building to fight enemies who have had time to prepare.’
’Ambushes? Plots? Traps? I’ll just tear the whole building down first and see what kind of surprise troops they can hide in the rubble!’
’Most importantly, it’s not my house. If it gets demolished, so what? What’s it got to do with me!’
"Mr. Su!" Behind him, Elias, who had arrived panting, suddenly paled. But in that instant, he couldn’t think of any reason to stop him. He could only hide quietly to one side to avoid getting caught in the crossfire of the upcoming battle between Transcendents.
However, in the instant Su Zhou’s blade of light and flame was about to blast the front half of the mansion apart, a translucent shield materialized from thin air.
Like a reef against the tide, it withstood Su Zhou’s ranged attack, causing the light and flame to shatter into a sky full of glittering specks of Spiritual Power.
At this, Elias’s expression was one of utter shock. "They’ve already broken through part of the Defensive Array!"
’This is bad. Just how much of it have they broken?! If the enemy can use the Array’s power...’
But before Elias could shout a warning, just as the Array’s shield blocked Su Zhou’s attack, a cold glint suddenly appeared from deep within the Duke’s Mansion.
SWOOSH—
A black Ice Cone, moving with a deceptive lightness, broke the sound barrier and shot toward Su Zhou’s eye from an exceptionally vicious angle!
This was a venomous Ice Cone enchanted with the Extreme Effect of Spell and Shield Breaking. Over ninety percent of shields and Body Protection Spells were useless against it. Even an iron golem forged from fine steel would have a huge hole torn through it on impact. For a creature of flesh and blood, forgetting the wound itself, the seeping venom alone was potent enough to kill hundreds.
However, those expecting this strike to be effective were quickly plunged into astonishment.
Because Su Zhou didn’t dodge. He didn’t block. He didn’t even seem to notice the Ice Cone.
He simply opened his mouth. A Gale Seed gathered and activated. Then, a Gale condensed to its absolute limit erupted from his mouth as a shockwave, flying like a cannonball to slam into the Ice Cone.
BANG. A sharp crack.
The Ice Cone shattered.
