Monsters Die When Killed

It all happened in a matter of minutes.

—The flood slammed into Naisel City. It first broke through a city gate, but was then blocked by a single person.

Immediately after, the light of the city’s Shelter Array dimmed, flickering out like a flame in a gale.

The Great Array’s light dimmed.

—Ooo—?

Even the Water God in the sky noticed this. It found this odd, as it hadn’t yet begun to destroy the city. The Elemental Array shouldn’t have been broken by the flood so quickly; it wasn’t that fragile.

But, just as the Giant Whale was feeling puzzled, a sense of extreme danger washed over it.

The next instant—

A pillar of incandescent white light shot up from the ground, piercing the heavens. In that instant, the immense energy contained within the beam even briefly altered the local weather. The dark clouds suddenly dispersed, and the once-overcast sky cleared completely, revealing the faint light of the stars and moon.

BOOM!!!!

The heaven-piercing pillar of light slammed into the massive island whale’s body. Before this incandescent beam, the creature’s blue Spirit Light Shield and its layers of thick carapace melted away silently, like a wall of butter before a torch. The white light swept across the sky, the power of the Elemental Array eclipsing all else in heaven and earth.

—WUUU—!!!

A few seconds passed before the world-shattering shockwave erupted from the island whale’s body. It let out a mournful cry as it slowly fell from the sky, crashing into the churning waves and kicking up a monstrous surge.

The very instant the Water God plunged into the water, the ground trembled as if in an earthquake. The violent tremors reached the people in the shelters, filling them with panic, for they did not know what had just happened.

"A High-level... High-level Commander, or even the peak?!"

Su Zhou, who had been about to head to the other city gates to continue helping, also saw the brilliant light erupt from the city center. Feeling the power contained in that attack, his eyes widened in shock—he couldn’t immediately grasp that the strike’s power was the Sheltering Array’s stored energy from over many years, its final Burst before destruction. "That was satisfying, but where in the world did that attack come from?!"

However, it wasn’t long before he heard a Soul Communication.

It was the weak voice of Elias.

"Mr. Su, this is a truly selfish request..."

As if from a great distance, the gray-eyed youth’s faint, whisper-like voice sounded out, "Can... you please... kill that God?"

’A foolish request.’

"Silly kid."

Hearing that voice, Su Zhou instantly understood who was behind the pillar of light.

He wiped away the blood that had trickled from his mouth and nose from overexerting his Cultivation Technique earlier. A mad gleam flowed within his Dragon Pupils.

Su Zhou let out a low, crazed laugh. "Don’t ask a man to do something he was already going to do!"

Once again, it reassembled into that familiar structure.

And so, five seconds after the first pillar of light had appeared...

A second arrow of light, purplish-blue and rather dim compared to the first, appeared. Trailing a long plume of flame, it sped towards the Giant Whale, which was struggling and thrashing in the water.

That was the light of the rocket that was Su Zhou.

Then, with another piercing shriek of pain from the Giant Whale...

Su Zhou slammed directly into the Giant Whale’s body.
