Before the colossal Water God, Su Zhou was minuscule, as insignificant as a grain of sand in comparison. The same was true for the total amount of their Spiritual Power. With a single move, the enraged Water God could command all the water within thousands of meters. If it were to use Magic or its Divine Power, it could even cause a Celestial Phenomenon Replacement.
The contrast between colossal and minuscule had never been so stark.
However, in terms of quality, Su Zhou’s power was by no means inferior.
Just as the formation of a Spiritual Power Organ in the Extraordinary Tier was a quantum leap in progress compared to the Awakening Tier, the evolution of one’s life essence, the further Extraordinary Life Transformation, and the awakening of Lifebound Divine Techniques brought by the Commander Tier was an equally massive leap from the Extraordinary Tier.
The foundation of the Commander Tier was the complete Transcendent Transformation of the body, forming a perfect internal energy cycle. Then, one had to be able to commune with nature’s spiritual energy on their own, using a fraction of their power to command immense might. A truly powerful individual at the Commander Tier could even awaken abilities akin to Lifebound Divine Techniques at this stage, greatly enhancing their combat prowess.
But the current Su Zhou already possessed the Celestial Human Cycle and the Lifebound Divine Techniques of the Evil-Devouring Demon Lord. He had completed both of these steps back in the Awakening Tier. Moreover, he had finished cultivating his Extraordinary Body just before arriving in the Tartadis World. The only thing he hadn’t done was perform the ritual to fully leverage the Celestial Human Cycle, break the barrier between his body and the world, and increase his Spiritual Power by ten to several dozen times. Aside from that, he was basically a miniature Commander Tier.
Compared to a sword the size of an arm, a dagger the length of a finger is certainly less lethal—but if it strikes the right spot, it can still kill.
At this moment, before the real battle began, the Water God’s immense voice echoed between heaven and earth. "Your aura is... very different. You are not a person of the Earth Era. Are you also one of the Undead, revived from the Maze?"
This message was delivered via wide-area Soul Communication, so everyone could understand it, regardless of language. Upon hearing it, both the people of Naisel City and the Water God Believers praying for their deity were momentarily stunned.
’Not a person of the Earth Era? That does seem to fit... Mister Su Zhou not only can’t speak our language, but he also doesn’t understand a lot of our common knowledge. He’s shown a curiosity about this era that he hasn’t bothered to hide in the slightest. But it’s not that he has no common sense, just that his is completely different from ours.’
’If he is an intelligent being who emerged from the Maze, then everything would make perfect sense.’
The Water God Believers’ thoughts were even simpler. Since their opponent wasn’t from the Earth Era, he must be a powerful being revived from a previous Era. The battle between their Father God and him was merely a preview of the war for the changing of Eras.
In that case, it was understandable that their god had been injured by a sneak attack earlier!
SHING!
His identity having been guessed, Su Zhou didn’t answer. He just silently drew his Divine Blade with a crisp ring of steel. His gaze swept over the various wounds on the Water God’s body, as if searching for the enemy’s weaknesses.
Since there was no desire for communication, the battle resumed. In the next instant, the giant island whale summoned an endless flood, which transformed into a massive wave. Propelled by the ceaseless currents, its incomparably huge body lunged toward Su Zhou at a speed the naked eye could not follow. It opened its giant maw, and the surrounding tide took the same shape, clearly intending to swallow Su Zhou whole.
But Su Zhou, hovering in mid-air, was prepared. His figure vanished in an instant, propelled by his Gale Armor. Immediately after, the Water God, as large as a small mountain, slammed into the earth along with its tide. A colossal splash erupted, and the surrounding water churned violently. The force of the impact even launched a huge volume of lake water thousands of meters into the sky. A giant crater was blasted into the ground, sending the roar of an earthquake through this world already saturated with torrential rain.
’Wait, the shelter is underground. An earthquake this close...’
Noticing this, Su Zhou, who had been about to press his advantage, had a slight change of expression. He immediately changed his course, no longer lingering nearby but instead retreating toward the distant lake.
Given the Water God’s size, it perceived Su Zhou’s movement as a normal dodge. So, It continued to control the water currents, letting them support Its body as It chased after Su Zhou.
The Water God’s power was the power to control the Water Element. In Its presence, any being weaker than It could not hope to use even a shred of Water Spirit Power. Even a Deity stronger than It would find using Water Magic to be twice as difficult for half the effect. This was Its innate Talent: absolute control over water.
Through water, It could float in mid-air, create torrential rain and whirlpools, and conjure floods and tsunamis at will. In its prime, It could even lift an entire section of the sea into the sky, creating a sea in the heavens to serve as a Divine Hall and residence to showcase Its Divine Power.
Amidst a heaven-shaking cry, the Water God relentlessly pursued Su Zhou. Though It was now severely injured and unable to fly, It used Its Water Control Power to keep up. Unless Su Zhou used his Gale Armor to shoot off like a rocket, he couldn’t even create enough distance to launch an attack.
Furthermore, the Water God’s massive body had the power to alter the terrain with every move. As It pursued Su Zhou, It flattened several hills, sending immense splashes of water into the sky. With a mere thought from the Water God, these splashes transformed into a series of terrifying Magic Techniques that blasted toward Su Zhou. For a moment, it was as if half the sky was illuminated by the light of the Water Spirit. Countless Magic Techniques of all shapes and sizes—enough to utterly shock any Mage specializing in the Water Element—poured forth as if they were free.
