Legos treat everyone equally, whether you’re a Transcendent or an ordinary person. The agony of stepping on one is sharp enough to instantly erase any happiness you felt moments before.
Meanwhile...
June 3rd, 2016. 1:37 PM.
Su Zhou had traveled with the Daoist Saint through a Teleportation Array, arriving directly in the Celestial Capital to observe an internal meeting of the Thirty-Six Saints Central Committee. At the moment, he was inside the Celestial Capital Security Bureau, scrolling through gaming news on his phone and chatting with Yara, who had transformed into a hat.
"You know, the Earth People of the Reincarnation World look a lot like humans," he said, his tone filled with obvious curiosity. "Theoretically, I should just accept the premise that ’humans are a common race across the Pan-Multiverse,’ and maybe even that they should speak Chinese. But, being logical about it, this has to be the result of mutual information bleed, right?"
"You’re really just asking if information from the Reincarnation World might manifest on Earth, aren’t you? I saw you searching for news on new games. Are you thinking there’ll be a new game this time, just like what happened with the Divine Wood World?"
Yara saw right through Su Zhou’s true thoughts. The snake-shaped emblem on the hat shook its head. "Since you used the Celestial God Scale to open a channel between the two worlds, it is theoretically possible. But the existence of humans isn’t because of that. In the Silent Lord’s former world, there were countless types of life. Hairless, bipedal apes were just one of the more unremarkable ones."
"So, just how powerful are the Great Beings?"
Hearing this, Su Zhou turned off his screen and subconsciously spun his phone on his fingertip, a sign that he was truly perplexed. "I’ve wanted to ask this question since we were in Shan Country... Even someone at the Celestial Venerable level can’t exactly create a world. But an incarnation of a Great Being like the Silent Lord, just a mere fragment of a remnant, could gather debris from the Void and form a whole new world..."
The vision Su Zhou had seen at the dawn of the New Era proved that the Reincarnation World was indeed created by the Gray Mist... And that hadn’t even been the Silent Lord’s True Body from within the Great Seal, but merely an incarnation, similar to the Immortal Banyan Tree.
The Silent Lord’s appearance was also his first contact with a Great Being other than Yara. The Tree of the Great Dao didn’t count; It was too detached from worldly affairs and only communicated with Yara, so Su Zhou never got a true sense of a Great Being’s power.
In response to Su Zhou’s question, Yara fell silent for a moment. It seemed to be considering whether it should share this information with him.
Then, it spoke with a hint of nostalgia. "Back then, we *were* the definition of ’correct.’ At least, that’s how it was in our respective domains."
It was a very vague description, but after a moment of thought, Su Zhou had an inkling of what that power was in essence.
’The definition of ’correct’... Just what kind of power could possibly deserve such a description?’
So, after a long silence, Su Zhou spoke again. He said slowly, "Yara, according to the contract we made, I need to become strong enough to one day free you from your Seal."
"But if the other Great Beings escape at the same time, the Great Seal will shatter. This cosmos we’re in, along with countless other worlds, will collapse one after another and be utterly destroyed."
"So, I have to use the Celestial God Seal, with the aura of an Evil Demon as a key, to travel to one Otherworld after another. I must seal or defeat the Great Being incarnations there to reduce the pressure on the Great Seal and prevent destruction. At the same time, I can use the resources from these Otherworlds to get stronger quickly, which will help me stop the final cataclysm and rescue you, Yara."
Just then, Su Zhou stopped spinning his phone and put it away. He reached into his shirt and placed his hand on the Celestial God Scale.
The young man’s voice turned solemn.
"I’ve been to two worlds now... and the Great Beings in both of them didn’t fight me directly. They were actually very easy to communicate with. And They didn’t seem desperate to break out of their Seal—no, is it even a Seal? After all, everything I know is just your side of the story, Yara."
Su Zhou wasn’t doubting Yara.
He was just genuinely confused. He was wondering what it would take to become strong enough to free Yara from the Seal, and for that, he needed to understand its fundamental nature.
"It is indeed a Seal, Su Zhou."
Yara replied calmly to Su Zhou’s questioning. "However, just as the Silent Lord’s love is like a Trial... who’s to say this Great Seal isn’t a Trial as well?"
The serpent laughed. It spoke meaningfully to its Contractor, "Doubt is a virtue, Su Zhou, but like you, I do not know the truth behind all of this. The most important thing is whether or not *you* wish to seek it out."
"..."
A long silence.
Until the sound of the Daoist Saint’s footsteps echoed from the hallway.
