Monsters Die When Killed

Chapter 525 - 21: I Will Scatter Your Ashes

However, he seemed to notice his attitude was a bit intimidating, so he just smiled and shook his head. "But just as I can’t imagine multiple countries putting aside their past grudges, I doubt that’s very likely either. Relax."

The deeper they ventured into the core of the Beast God Realm, the more towering the remains of the Tree of Life became. It was no wonder that for thousands of years, not a single Spirit Beast in the entire realm had dared to question its status as the Supreme God. You couldn’t blame them for their ignorance; even humans wouldn’t have fared much better in the same situation. A being that transcended imagination, standing at the very center of the world—that in itself was a miracle.

The mission was long, but it would finally come to an end.

After nearly thirty hours of flying at full speed, covering a distance equivalent to almost half of Eurasia, the Great Roc Golden-winged Bird had reached its destination.

The Zhengguo Action Team was about to face the final hurdle of their raid: the guard force stationed around the Tree of Life, composed of Divine Beasts from multiple races.

This unit’s elite status far surpassed the border forces deployed by the various races. With a single sweep of his gaze, Su Zhou spotted at least seven or eight Extraordinary High-tier beasts, comparable to the high-level Spirit Beasts of the Giant Crocodile Scale Clan they had faced earlier. He even sensed the aura of an Extraordinary Peak Divine Beast from the Kun Race. It was an enormous, nineteen-meter-long horned beetle, its body glowing with a golden light as sacred as the sun itself. It was currently leading several hundred soldiers. Though fewer in number, their strength far exceeded the avian Beast Soldiers from before, and they were now moving to intercept the Zhengguo Action Team.

"Who goes there? This is the Holy Land of the Venerable God of Life! Passage is forbidden without a joint decree from the kings of the Five Races!"

Just moments before, this beetle had been enjoying its morning feast. Fresh, tender Spirit Beast paste, still infused with Soul, was a rare delicacy. The meal came from some Spirit Beasts from a slave-beast farm who had dared to attempt an escape from the Kun Race, fleeing for the deep mountains. But how could they have known? The entire Beast God Realm belonged to the Divine Beasts; not even the deepest mountains offered refuge. So, these Spirit Beasts who refused to serve the Divine Beasts were all captured and taken to a slaughterhouse. They were executed by meat grinder to make an example of them.

"Souls just don’t taste as good when they’re not fresh!"

So, it angrily vibrated its wing cases, producing a buzzing that formed words. The intense light radiating from its Spiritual Power heated the surrounding air to several hundred degrees, and it looked ready to strike at any moment. "Halt! In the name of the Venerable Lord, I command you—"

The Beast God Realm’s defenses in this area seemed formidable, but they were in a state of utter neglect. It was as if they had never considered, or even encountered, anyone daring to force their way into the Holy Land. The Zhengguo Action Team’s sudden assault left the Kun Race Divine Beast on guard duty at a loss. It could only shout from a distance, attempting to drive the intruders away with the tried-and-true authority of the Venerable Lord.

But its challenge was met by Wang Zhong, who immediately cast his Cloud Mist Spiritual Technique. He shrouded an area of several thousand meters in a pale white mist, making it nearly impossible to see through and completely cutting off the enemy’s line of sight.

Meanwhile, Bai Canglang chuckled, hidden within the mist. Guided by Zhang Fucheng, he fired off a series of long-range sniper shots, taking down several Spirit Beasts.

But this was just an appetizer.

Why would the Zhengguo Action Team waste time with idle threats when they were so close to their objective? The only thing they were going to do was show their ’Will of Fire!’

And perhaps you’re asking, what exactly is this ’Will of Fire’?

Simple. It means unleashing overwhelming firepower and blasting them to hell!

And so, after a brief moment of preparation, the Sun Saint Beetle—which had just gathered its Spiritual Power to block a shot from Bai Canglang’s Spiritual Spear with its carapace—felt as if it was seeing the sun for real.

On the back of that Divine Bird, eight auras at the Extraordinary High-tier, and even the Extraordinary Peak... no, stronger! There were even stronger ones, with Spiritual Light approaching the level of an Immortal, all burning ferociously—

’What kind of monsters are these?!’

In that instant, it regretted its reckless charge. At first, it had assumed this was just some curious young Divine Beast from the Feather Race, coming to pay its respects to the Venerable God of Life. It never imagined they were actual enemies on a raid.

’And not only that, these Divine Beasts—whose true forms it couldn’t even identify—were absurdly powerful. Its carapace was tough, and it was protected by a blazing Spiritual Light that could heat the air around it to insulate against Thunder Light and melt incoming bullets. Even so, it wasn’t sure it could withstand an attack from them.’

’Run? Stay? Or fight?’

But there was no time left for it to think.

"Thunder, Come Forth!"

RUMBLE—

At the simple Magic Spell, two blinding, cyan bolts of Thunder Light erupted. They were like a pair of snarling Divine Dragons, sweeping across both flanks of the guard force. In the turbulent winds thousands of meters in the air, the raging Thunderbolt was the most dangerous weapon of all. Amid the muffled roar of exploding air and flashing arcs of electricity, dozens of Spirit Beasts fell screaming, destined to be smashed into unrecognizable pulp on the ground below.

The Daoist Saint sheathed his Magic Sword, but the two Thunder Dragons continued to sweep through the sky. The ’Five Thunders Technique’ was all-encompassing, the culmination of several thousand years of Zhengguo’s Thunder Techniques. Controlling thunder with Divine Thought was merely the foundation. If the Daoist Saint so wished, he could rely on his ’gaze’ alone to transmit the thunder of the Yin God, then transform Yin Thunder into Divine Thunder, utterly destroying all Demons and Evils from soul to body.

Meanwhile, Wang Zhong, the military’s Water Daoist Skill Cultivator, was smiling as he patted his Wine Gourd. The ancient-looking Zhengguo Magical Artifact resounded like a small drum, emitting a booming roar. With each boom, the vast expanse of clouds churned and billowed. Moved by the Divine Thunder the Daoist Saint had unleashed, the clouds transformed into a massive thunderhead, amplifying the power of the Divine Thunder and expanding the Thunder Technique’s area of effect.
