Four kings who could unleash the power of Immortal Beasts. Seventeen of their Personal Guards, at the Extraordinary Advanced and peak tiers. And one hundred thirty-six powerful Spirit Beasts of the Extraordinary Tier.
In addition, there was a vast army of tens of thousands of Spirit Beasts marching on the ground, plus a servitor army of Slave Species ten times that number.
Still, the gathering was too hasty. Any Divine Beast in the Beast God Realm could muster such an army, albeit with fewer high-end combatants. Every Divine Beast was the supreme Venerable Lord of its territory, and the Beast God Realm was a fully militarized society. For them, casualties in the hundreds of thousands were a daily occurrence in their wars to cull the population of wild beasts. Even a million dead and wounded was considered no great matter.
At this very moment, even more armies were converging on the Two Realms Teleportation Gate within the territory of the Feather Race. Their goal was not only to capture the reckless exploration party from the Immortal Realm’s remnants but also to launch a counterattack against the world on the other side.
Scouting at the very front was a Spirit Beast of the Feather Race. It possessed Spiritual Eyes that could see through Soul Bodies and energy, so it had been appointed to the rank of vanguard Commander. This great honor immediately filled it with pride. ’After this campaign,’ it thought, ’I’ll head back home and throw a huge celebratory banquet!’
By now, it could already see the distant thunderclouds, as well as the overwhelmingly powerful aura of the enemy "Venerable Lord." ’But so what?’ the Spirit Bird thought with disdain. ’This time, four of our kings have come—beings far more venerable than some ordinary Venerable Lord. Once they see the might of our army, they’ll surely bow their heads and surrender!’
But an inexplicable chill ran up its spine, causing the Spirit Bird’s body to tremble instinctively.
Then, the distant, dim clouds were suddenly illuminated by a flash of bluish-purple Spiritual Light. The somber clouds were dyed a magnificent, brilliant bluish-purple, like the colors of dusk.
And then came a sense of danger so profound it threatened to shatter its very soul!
"Massive energy signature dead ahead!"
The lead Spirit Bird only had time to let out a single, piercing shriek. In the next instant, a roaring Dragon Breath—wreathed in gales, lightning, and scorching flames, and trailing endless vapor—tore apart the dim, gloomy sky. It was like a meteor in reverse, launching from the earth and soaring diagonally into the heavens!
It was engulfed in an instant. After that... there was no after. It was simply annihilated, reduced to dust in the turbulent Torrent of Spiritual Power.
"Disperse! Disperse!"
The commands from the Kings of Divine Beasts in the rear were issued swiftly, but it was too late. The moment the pillar of Dragon Breath rose, the entire sky seemed to be split in two. The thick cloud layer tore apart with incredible speed, as if sliced by scissors.
BOOM—
It struck its target—the very heart of the Beast God Realm’s army.
Then, a blinding Spiritual Light erupted into a violent explosion that sent shockwaves through the air. It ignited the sky, the clouds, the air itself, and the flying Spirit Beasts. Everything in its path was sent flying by the surging gales, then set ablaze.
The Spirit Beast army’s Array Formation was torn in two by that single Breath. Searing heat, intense enough to scorch rock to ash, spread rapidly through their ranks, triggering a chain reaction of massive explosions.
The air shuddered, creating vast, distorted regions in the sky. The gales tore vacuums into existence, shredding cries of agony. Spirit Beasts—charred black, their internal organs pulverized by the shockwaves—rained down from the sky. But they were the lucky ones. Far more of them left no corpse behind, having been utterly reduced to ash.
Meanwhile, a massive, perfectly circular ring from the Spiritual Light’s shockwave continued to slowly expand across the high heavens...
On the ground below, the Giant Dragon gazed into the distance, observing the results of his surprise attack. He slowly exhaled a plume of scorching air.
Then, he began to inhale deeply again.
