Mr. CEO's Substitute Bride

Chapter 1444 - 1438: Pulling a Long Face

Anyone versed in finance knows what unusual stock activity represents.

Given how strict the management is currently, no one would blatantly engage in insider trading.

Even if one intends to speculate, they would divide the shares across multiple accounts. This client, with such a big move, didn’t account for this, seemingly gathering chips on the secondary market.

It’s a straightforward principle, but unfortunately, Dominic Quinn, driven by revenge, didn’t analyze sensibly.

Violet Zimmerman brought dinner over, half an hour earlier than Juliana Lancaster.

The assistant and Mrs. Zhang followed behind, carrying quite a lot of items.

Seeing Violet Zimmerman enter, Sophia Hamilton immediately turned her face away in displeasure.

The villain who tried to harm her son, she wouldn’t forgive.

Violet Zimmerman pretended not to see her daughter-in-law’s displeasure, instructing the assistant and Mrs. Zhang to place the food on the coffee table.

"Evander, I instructed Ms. Zhang to make chicken soup for Sophia, with ginseng and astragalus. She just had surgery and needs the nourishment."

Evander Lancaster instinctively glanced at his obviously displeased wife, smiling, "Mom, you’re busy with work; you don’t have to come specially to bring food. Sophia’s mother is retired and at home with nothing to do; she can bring it."

Violet Zimmerman instructed the assistant and Mrs. Zhang to wait in the car, opening boxes of food one by one, arranging bowls and chopsticks, "How can that be the same? Sophia is part of the Lancaster Family; always troubling the in-laws isn’t good!"

Evander Lancaster again glanced at Sophia Hamilton, worried she might conflict with his mother.

Just as his falcon-like eyes flickered over, Sophia Hamilton, in bed, suddenly turned over, eyebrows arched, looking unwilling to yield.

Evander Lancaster hurried over quickly, changing the topic, "What’s wrong? Are you uncomfortable somewhere? Do you need help to move? I can aid you."

"No need! I don’t!" Sophia Hamilton raised her voice.

For the first time, Evander was grateful she had a Caesarean, with her energy drained, leaving her weak. Even if she raised her voice unhappily, it sounded like she was whispering.

This tone wouldn’t put his mother in a hard spot.

Supporting Sophia Hamilton’s back with one hand, placing a pillow behind her with the other, Evander Lancaster spoke gently.

"Are you hungry? Have some soup first."

"Evander Lancaster!" Sophia Hamilton warned as she glared at the man in front of the bed, gritting her teeth.

Evander laughed, feigning ignorance, with his mother present, unable to state things too plainly.

"I know you’re sick of the chicken soup over the days. Mom has already brought it over, so just take a bit reluctantly."

Sophia Hamilton understood Evander’s intention, wanting her to show kindness to his mother. No way! Not driving her away is already the maximum tolerance, let alone showing hospitality.

She turned her head capriciously, "Not hungry, want to sleep."

Evander Lancaster...

The man caught in the middle finds it hard.

Not forcing Sophia Hamilton, he returned with a smile, speaking to his mother.

"Mom, Sophia ate late at noon and isn’t hungry yet; let’s leave it for now, and she’ll eat when she feels hungry."

Violet Zimmerman...

Having already served the rice, even the chopsticks are set.

The grandma of the household, whose ten fingers did not dip into spring water, if not her own son and daughter-in-law, who would enjoy such treatment?

Looking at the daughter-in-law putting on a show in bed, despite displeasure, she said nothing, grabbing the purse from the sofa, her face stern, "Alright, I’m going first. You both eat when you get hungry."

Evander Lancaster knew his mother was angry, smiling as he agreed, escorting her to the door.

Sitting in the car, Violet Zimmerman immediately regretted it, having not even held her grandson, driven out by her son and daughter-in-law.

Sighing, she thought, let it be. When I come tomorrow, I’ll hold him then; after all, he’s my grandson and won’t run away!
