Today was destined to be a chaotic day.
The head of the Lancaster Family actually got into a scandal with the family maid.
From the uncles, aunts, and cousins, right down to Evander Lancaster’s siblings, everyone was gathered in Violet Zimmerman’s living room.
Only the still naive children remained at their own home, watched over by a maid.
In the main sofa sat Violet Zimmerman with a rather unpleasant expression. Such a disgraceful event happening in her own home, right under her nose—how could she possibly be happy!
The maid, Avery Stuart, stood in the middle of the living room like a mistreated young wife, head lowered, eyes downcast. Her hair was disheveled, her clothes torn in several places, and her face covered in bruises.
All caused by Victoria Thornton, Daemon Lancaster’s wife.
This matter needs to be traced back to last night.
After the family dinner, the elders were driven back home separately by Evander Lancaster and his brother. Violet Zimmerman also returned to her room upstairs to rest.
Evander planned to drive his third uncle home before taking Daemon back, but when he returned after dropping off Gabriel, he found the living room empty.
Evander assumed Daemon had been taken home by Avery Stuart, the maid, and went back to his place to rest. But this morning, Victoria Thornton, seeing that her husband hadn’t returned all night, came to Violet Zimmerman’s place to look for him.
Violet was also puzzled, thinking Daemon had returned home, she went to call from Aunt Zhang’s and Avery’s rooms, asking them where Daemon had been sent.
But upon opening Avery’s room, she was met with a shocking scene.
On the standard single bed, Daemon Lancaster and Avery Stuart lay stark naked, and from the mess of clothes scattered on the floor, it wasn’t hard to imagine the intensity of the previous night.
Victoria Thornton, with her fiery temper, saw the maid taking advantage of her drunk husband to lure him into the room, and she immediately burst in and violently woke up Avery!
Daemon was really hungover from too much drinking; awakened by the noise, he was in a foul mood, especially seeing his wife behaving like a shrew, beating the maid, he sharply reprimanded her.
Sleeping with the maid and still daring to defend her, Victoria only grew angrier, and in her wrath, even Daemon got beaten, as she blocked the two naked people in the bed, using palms and chairs alike.
If Violet hadn’t asked Aunt Zhang to call her two sons to intervene, it might have ended with a tragedy!
In the living room, Evander kept blaming himself.
"... It’s all my fault, suggesting such a dinner, otherwise, this wouldn’t have happened..." He thought hosting at home because of the drunken behavior would be safer, all family... but who could have predicted...
"Humph! What does it have to do with you!" Victoria Thornton stood, her hands on her hips on the single sofa, glaring at Avery in the center fiercely.
Avery hung her head, already battered and bruised, although Evander had treated her wounds, her face resembled a pig’s head.
"It’s all because this woman had ill intentions, I already noticed! She keeps visiting our home, pretending to relay messages to Daemon!"
"What nonsense are you talking!" Daemon, seated on the diagonal sofa, rebuked unhappily, a bandage wrapped around his head from being hit by Victoria’s chair.
He hadn’t expected his wife to reveal Avery’s communication with their home so openly.
Joseph Lancaster, who had been silent, still sat back watching, observing with a cold smile in his heart despite no facial change.
The outcome seemed better than expected; he hadn’t foreseen Victoria revealing such things.
"Humph! Am I talking nonsense?" Victoria Thornton sprang from the sofa, pointing at Daemon’s nose with widened eyes.
"Daemon, are you going to say I’m lying?
This shameless woman has been frequently visiting under the guise of delivering messages!
Humph! I detest those who betray their own—they eat their master’s food and still help outsiders! Had it been ancient times, she’d be thrown into the pig basket, bound and cut to pieces!"
As Victoria finished speaking, everyone understood clearly now that Daemon Lancaster had bribed the family maid, Violet Zimmerman’s servant, to act as his spy.
Though why Daemon needed to do this was beyond anyone’s understanding, his reputation had plummeted in the eyes of everyone.
Violet Zimmerman’s face remained cold, displeased while gazing at the central maid; she hadn’t yet condemned her for the betrayal, but her face turned grim.
This ordinarily quiet woman, not speaking did not mean lacking authority.
Holding the lifeline of Lancaster Enterprises, with a simple word, she could collapse the small enterprises among the family extensions in moments.
This was why the other branches of the Lancaster Family feared her.
Michael Lancaster and Catherine Taylor sat on the chairs, their daughter Willow standing behind them listening to her aunt unravel Daemon’s scandal with boredom.
Catherine showed no emotion, as if uninvolved.
Michael furrowed his brows, understanding well that Daemon planned to scheme against those in the main house, yet failed disastrously.
The previous night, he was also one of the involved; perhaps the grandmother planned all this, having noticed her close maid had been bribed by Daemon Lancaster, thus intentionally setting up this drama!
Despite being blood brothers, who could openly defend in such a situation? Given Avery’s ulterior motives towards him, it was obvious; guarding Daemon’s side all night, refilling tea and pouring wine, never straying a meter away.
Gabriel Lancaster also understood clearly that Daemon was set up by Violet’s family.
But he hadn’t expected such audacity from the family maid, daring to conspire with the master!
Ah! Gabriel sighed inwardly, Daemon’s restraint surely lacking; although Avery was younger than the sister-in-law, yet her face...
Even Daemon wasn’t fussy!
Daemon Lancaster was too furious to speak, clutching his chest in anger, swearing inwardly about such an indiscreet woman revealing this before everyone—whether deliberately or in stupidity!
Victoria Thornton wasn’t finished, standing with hands on hips, continuing to criticize Daemon and Avery’s entanglement.
"I don’t know what sweet nothings you whispered to her that morning; seeing me come out of the kitchen, this shameless woman blushed like a monkey’s backside and fled!
Daemon, did I not warn you to stay away from this woman? She has sinister intentions towards you, yet you fall for it, blinded!
Daemon, if you were with a young girl it might have been forgivable, but sleeping with such a sleazy character—you have really brought shame to the Lancaster name!"
