Chapter 1727: Chapter 1727: She Will Not Regret

Unfortunately, even if they cast aside life and death and resolved to die together, it was not enough to close the massive gap in strength. As soon as they made a move, their farming tools were sent flying, blood gleamed, and amid the harrowing screams, several villagers fell into pools of blood.

"Hahahaha, with just this bit of strength, you dare to fight us to the death." A crowd of bandits laughed mockingly.

Though they too came from impoverished backgrounds, the years of licking blood off the blade had long stripped them of any empathy.

The injured villagers lay in the blood, wailing voicelessly, their faces contorted in pain. Seeing their pitiful state, the bandits laughed even more recklessly.

The reason these people could still keep their lives wasn’t that they had any passing ability, but rather because the bandits showed mercy. Of course, it wasn’t out of kindness; it was this heartless slaughter that provided them with a sense of pleasure.

"I’ll kill you, I’ll kill you." An injured middle-aged man howled like a beast, struggling to rise. But just as he got halfway up, his legs gave way, and he fell again. Yet, even so, his eyes were bloodshot, gripping a longsword dropped by someone else, crawling angrily towards the enemy ahead.

"Hmph, reckless." The bandit with triangular eyes snorted coldly and slashed at the middle-aged man.

"Stop!" Ye Yi’an and others shouted simultaneously.

"No!" Another young woman hugged her child and cried out miserably, throwing herself onto the middle-aged man.

"Don’t kill my husband, don’t kill my husband." The young woman wept profusely, repeating frantically. She, too, wore a coarse linen dress but was born with delicate and gentle features.

"The boss was right, this village indeed lives rather well. To think it still has tender little women like this, hehehehe." Triangular eyes glinted wickedly, reaching out to touch her face.

The young woman was startled and instinctively moved back.

"Waaa..." The baby in her arms was frightened and let out a tender cry.

"Little bastard, how dare you spoil my fun!" Triangular eyes glared fiercely, swinging his knife down at the baby’s head.

"Ah..." Surrounding cries of alarm arose.

"Stop!" A crisp and tender shout rang out as Han Yan flew forward like an arrow off the bowstring, slashing at the triangular eyes.

After listening to Mu Chenglin’s words and seeing the determination to fight to the death in everyone’s eyes, Han Yan was deeply moved, and there was no way she could watch these innocent villagers die so tragically. The bandit’s cruelty completely ignited her anger.

Though Ye Yi’an and Sikong Qinglan were gravely injured and unable to fight much longer, and though Han Yan knew that even if she were to fully unleash her Fifth Rank Swordsman cultivation, defeating Chen Xuefeng was impossible, she understood clearly she could not leave. At least not now; otherwise, she would never find peace of mind in her lifetime.

Han Yan did not display any sword technique, after all, the truly terrifying enemy was Chen Xuefeng. Concealing some strength would mean a better chance of survival, no matter how slim that hope might be, it could not be wasted.

At such a time, Han Yan was exceptionally calm, so she used the martial arts she learned from Mu Tu. However, her cultivation foundation and comprehension far surpassed Mu Tu’s. Though her cultivation time wasn’t long, even Mu Tu felt ashamed when seeing it. The bandit was completely unprepared. Not until her longsword reached him did he realize it, instinctively lifting his knife to block.

"Crack!" A tremendous force spread, the bandit’s knife broke in half, and he was brutally slashed away, a bloodline stretched from his forehead to his chest, with blood dripping down the wound to the ground.

The bandit’s triangular eyes twitched incessantly, looking at Han Yan with fear in his eyes.

He was the second master among these bandits, with strength only below Chen Xuefeng. Even against Fourth or Fifth Rank Divine Priests, he could barely put up a fight. He never expected to be so injured by just one strike. If not for his decent strength and extremely rich practical experience, withdrawing quickly upon noticing something amiss, Han Yan could have split him in two with one strike.

Han Yan did not pursue, but stood proudly with her longsword, shielding herself in front of all the villagers.

The might of this one strike frightened the surrounding bandits, causing them to glance at each other and collectively step back.

"Second Master, are you alright?" After a while, someone cautiously asked.

"Aren’t your damn eyes working? Can’t you see if I’m dead or not? Damn it, I was caught off guard today, beaten by a little girl. I’ll kill her and show you lot what I’m made of." Triangular eyes snapped out of it, wounded in front of so many subordinates by a seemingly delicate girl. The more he thought about it, the more embarrassed he felt. Grabbing a large knife from a companion, he charged ferociously towards Han Yan.

Calmly, he realized that the girl’s strike wasn’t particularly strong, merely that he underestimated these villagers, allowing her to get the upper hand unexpectedly. Hence, he didn’t really regard Han Yan seriously.

"Hold it." At this moment, Chen Xuefeng suddenly spoke.

"Master..." Triangular eyes looked at Chen Xuefeng in confusion.

"The sword in her hand isn’t ordinary; let me handle it." Chen Xuefeng gazed at the longsword in Han Yan’s hand, licking his lips.

After all, hailing from the Priest Family, his eye power wasn’t bad, recognizing at a glance that Han Yan’s longsword was not ordinary. He had his eyes on the Cold Sky Sword.

According to bandit rules, whoever kills the opponent gets the spoils of war. He naturally didn’t want to let others benefit from this. He also discerned that the martial arts displayed by the girl wasn’t particularly strong, at least not stronger than his. She just pulled off a sneak attack earlier.

As Chen Xuefeng spoke, he moved to stand in front of the triangular eyes.

"I’ll leave it to you, Master then." Triangular eyes wasn’t stupid, realizing Chen Xuefeng’s intentions from his words but had to endure, lacking equivalent strength.

Little did he know that this moment of concession saved his life.

"Girlie, where did the sword in your hand come from?" Chen Xuefeng asked.

"What’s it to you?" Han Yan replied calmly.

Seeing Chen Xuefeng’s demeanor, she knew he underestimated her, thinking her strength was merely the demonstrated martial arts - which was precisely her only chance.

As she spoke, Han Yan was storing up Qi, knowing well that unleashing a sword technique from the Holy Court Continent would expose her identity, forcing her to live perpetually on the run. Still, she wouldn’t regret it, nor was there a better choice.
