After digging for what felt like an eternity, the group finally broke through the Red Dragon’s abdomen.
They soon removed its stomach intact.
To everyone’s disappointment, however, it was completely empty.
There was no sign of Falin’s body—not even a scrap of clothing.
"Was she completely digested?" Chilchuck asked with a worried frown.
The sight filled him with a terrible sense of foreboding.
"We should check the intestines too," Laios said, forcing down his growing unease.
"I think you should examine the organ where the Red Dragon stores its fuel," Haruto suddenly suggested.
Laios recalled what he knew about Red Dragons and quickly understood what Haruto meant.
He hurriedly pulled out the organ used to store fuel and cut it open.
A congealed mass of hair and bones spilled onto the ground, accompanied by an appalling stench.
"Ugh... That smell is brutal."
Haruto immediately backed away several steps.
At that moment, he decided that possessing an overly sensitive sense of smell was not always a blessing.
Laios soon found a lock of hair among the foul mixture.
The discovery immediately filled the group with excitement. Ignoring the unbearable odor, they began searching through the mass.
Haruto hesitated for a long while before finally putting on a mask and joining them.
Before long, they had recovered every bone they could find.
Since nothing but Falin’s skeleton remained, she would have to be resurrected here inside the dungeon.
Worse still, Marcille would need to use ancient magic—the kind officially classified as forbidden.
Laios agreed without hesitation.
It was their only remaining option.
Once Falin’s skeleton had been fully reassembled, Marcille prepared to cast the resurrection spell.
"All right. I’m starting."
Marcille drew a deep breath and began chanting an obscure incantation.
As the spell unfolded, the surrounding air abruptly became bitterly cold.
An unnatural wind swept through the ruins, and the already dim area seemed to sink beneath a sinister veil of black mist.
Marcille’s long golden hair whipped wildly around her, and her entire presence took on a mysterious, almost unsettling quality.
Haruto’s expression grew solemn as he felt the strange magical fluctuations surging through the air, utterly unlike ordinary magic.
It was no wonder ancient magic had been forbidden and branded "black magic."
Even setting aside whatever unknown consequences might arise from using it, the ominous phenomena surrounding the casting were enough to terrify most people.
Marcille’s chanting grew faster and more urgent.
Her face gradually turned pale, while fine beads of sweat gathered across her forehead.
The moment the final syllable left her lips, all strength drained from her body, and she collapsed unconscious.
"Marcille!"
Laios, Chilchuck, and Senshi rushed to her side.
Once they confirmed that she had merely fainted, they finally breathed a little easier.
Then they turned toward the place where Falin’s skeleton had been lying.
A blood-covered human body now rested there.
"Did it work?" Chilchuck asked tensely, hardly daring to breathe.
Laios did not answer.
He slowly walked forward.
Although the body was covered in dark-red blood, he recognized Falin’s face immediately.
At that moment, Falin’s eyes suddenly opened.
She rolled onto her side and began vomiting violently, spilling red blood from her mouth.
"Falin!"
Laios’s heart tightened. He hurriedly crouched beside her and gently patted her back.
Once the vomiting finally stopped, Falin slowly lifted her head and looked at him with unfocused eyes.
Fragments of hazy memory surged back into her mind like an incoming tide.
"Nii-san..."
Her voice was weak.
Laios could no longer contain himself.
He pulled Falin tightly into his arms.
"Thank goodness, Falin..."
"Cold..."
Falin murmured.
Only then did Laios remember that he was still wearing his freezing metal armor.
He quickly released her, an embarrassed smile appearing on his face.
"Sorry, sorry..."
Marcille soon regained consciousness.
The moment she saw Falin alive, she became overwhelmed with emotion as well.
After everyone had finally calmed down, Marcille immediately took Falin away to wash the blood from her body and find her some clothes.
Meanwhile, Haruto discussed the Red Dragon with Laios and Senshi before storing most of the carcass inside Gourmet Restaurant.
Laios’s party had no way to carry something so enormous.
Of course, Haruto left them more than enough dragon meat for themselves.
What followed was cooking time for Haruto and Senshi.
Haruto first took out a large piece of Red Dragon tenderloin.
Using the same method he had used for the soy-braised Kelpie meat, he placed the prepared dragon meat into a pot and allowed it to simmer slowly over low heat.
As time passed, the savory sauce blended perfectly with the dragon meat’s natural flavor.
The liquid bubbled gently, filling the air with a rich aroma that made everyone’s mouths water.
While the Soy-Braised Red Dragon Meat simmered, Haruto took out a large quantity of additional dragon flesh and cut it into steaks roughly a finger thick.
Red Dragon meat was far tougher than ordinary meat.
Holding his kitchen knife by the handle, Haruto repeatedly pounded the steaks with the back of the blade until the fibers finally softened.
He then spread an even layer of honey across each piece and seasoned them with salt, black pepper, chili powder, and several other spices before leaving them to marinate for half an hour.
Once the steaks had absorbed the flavors, Haruto dipped a portion into beaten Cockatrice egg, coating every surface before rolling them through fine flour.
He poured a generous amount of olive oil into a pot.
When the oil reached the proper temperature and tiny bubbles appeared across its surface, Haruto lowered the floured dragon steaks into it one by one.
They hit the oil with a loud hiss, sending droplets flying as a powerful fragrance immediately filled the area.
Haruto repeatedly turned the steaks to ensure that both sides fried to an even golden crisp.
Once the meat was fully cooked, he removed the pieces and left them to drain.
The beautifully golden Fried Red Dragon Cutlets were complete!
Next, Haruto poured a small amount of olive oil into a frying pan and added thinly sliced Dryad flower buds.
He cooked them slowly over low heat.
The buds already carried a delicate fragrance, which grew richer as their edges lightly browned.
Haruto then placed the remaining Red Dragon steaks into the pan and fried them together with the flower buds.
The dragon meat seemed remarkably resistant to heat.
Even after cooking for quite some time, it showed no sign of becoming dry or tough. Instead, its surface only grew more richly colored and glossy.
Once he confirmed that the steaks were cooked through, Haruto scattered chopped cilantro over them and served them with strips of Dryad flower buds he had pickled in advance.
The fragrant Pan-Fried Red Dragon Steak with Pickled Dryad Buds was complete.
By then, the Soy-Braised Red Dragon Meat had absorbed the sauce as well.
While Haruto worked on his dishes, Senshi remained equally busy.
He first cut open the Red Dragon’s tail and removed the outer skin. He placed the meat in a pot with onions, chopped Mandrake, and plenty of water.
After bringing everything to a boil over high heat, he lowered the flame and allowed it to simmer, soon producing a rich Dragon Tail Soup.
Senshi then cut off another piece of dragon meat and fried it in a pan.
Once cooked, he placed the steak in a sauce and left it to marinate until the flavor had fully penetrated the meat.
His Marinated Pan-Fried Red Dragon Steak was soon ready as well.
Finally, using cheese, onions, flour, and several other ingredients, Senshi prepared a large number of onion pizzas to serve as their staple food.
