After Professor Oak left, Haruto turned toward the Alolan Ninetales beside him.
It was still contentedly licking the last of its Moomoo Milk ice cream.
Haruto stroked its silky fur and said,
"I’m heading back to the guest room. I’ll come see you again when I have time."
"Nine..."
Alolan Ninetales gave a soft cry and swished its luxuriant tails as it watched Haruto leave the garden.
Back in his room, Haruto sat at the desk beside the window and took out a thick stack of writing paper and a fountain pen.
His main objective now was to gather enough Pokémon to properly develop the upgraded Gourmet Restaurant.
A formal trade with the Pokémon League was the fastest way to accomplish that.
For the moment, he needed to compile a clear and detailed list of every Pokémon he wanted.
He was especially interested in species from different regions that could produce unique ingredients, along with Pokémon whose abilities could assist in building and maintaining the Gourmet Restaurant.
Haruto even planned to study the Pokémon records in Professor Oak’s collection when he had time, just to make sure he had not overlooked anything useful.
While Haruto focused on preparing his list, Professor Oak secured the Jewel Meat and Puffer Whale before picking up a communicator and entering a private contact code.
It connected directly to Pokémon League headquarters through an encrypted line.
The moment the call went through, a League representative answered respectfully.
"Professor Oak, how may we assist you?"
Professor Oak wasted no time on pleasantries.
He revealed everything about Haruto’s identity as an interdimensional visitor and the ingredients in his possession that could dramatically improve the growth of Pokémon.
When he finished, the other end of the line fell silent.
Only the faint crackle of static remained.
Anyone suddenly confronted with phrases such as "visitor from another world" and "mysterious ingredients" would naturally assume they were hearing an absurd fantasy.
But the person delivering this information was Professor Samuel Oak, one of the greatest authorities in Pokémon research and among the League’s most trusted experts.
No one questioned his integrity or scientific rigor.
For that reason, even though the League personnel found the report almost impossible to believe, they never doubted its authenticity.
Instead, they immediately treated it with the utmost importance.
Within minutes, an emergency meeting was convened among the senior officials at Pokémon League headquarters, and a fierce discussion began over how Haruto should be handled.
Professor Oak participated remotely through the communicator.
Some officials suggested secretly monitoring Haruto or even taking forceful measures to place him under League control.
An unknown person capable of crossing between worlds was far too dangerous to ignore.
Professor Oak rejected the proposal the instant it was raised.
"I strongly advise all of you to abandon those unnecessary ideas."
His firm voice carried through the communicator.
"Haruto is not an enemy. He has personally encountered Arceus and bears no ill will toward the Pokémon world. His only purpose here is to gather ingredients."
The moment Arceus was mentioned, the entire conference room fell silent.
As the Pokémon League, they possessed access to a great deal of information hidden from the general public.
Arceus, the Mythical Pokémon said to have created the world, was a name no one could forget once they learned of it.
Professor Oak paused before adding,
"You all know how powerful my Dragonite is."
"It sensed an intense threat from Haruto. His true strength is impossible to measure."
"Building a friendly relationship with him is our only sensible option."
Those words destroyed any remaining support for an aggressive approach.
Haruto was an immensely powerful interdimensional visitor with unknown capabilities, a connection to Arceus, and no apparent hostility.
The League had no reason to provoke him.
Approaching him peacefully and confirming the situation through friendly negotiations was clearly the best course of action.
Whether some officials still entertained other ideas remained unknown, but publicly, they all agreed to pursue cooperation.
The Pokémon League acted with impressive efficiency.
Once the decision had been reached, they immediately began selecting a representative.
In the end, the responsibility was given to Lorelei, one of Kanto’s Elite Four.
Lorelei was meticulous, calm, and highly capable.
Both her strength and position were sufficient to demonstrate the League’s sincerity, making her the ideal choice.
She also happened to be relatively close to Pallet Town.
...
The eastern sky was only beginning to brighten when a thin morning mist settled over Pallet Town, filling the air with the fragrance of grass and damp earth.
The doors of Professor Oak’s laboratory opened, and a tall, mature woman stepped inside.
Lorelei wore a sharp, practical uniform that emphasized her striking figure.
Her long red hair had been tied into a high ponytail that swayed gently behind her, while her glasses gave her an intelligent, composed appearance.
She wasted no time.
With guidance from one of the laboratory staff, she quickly found Professor Oak inside the research lab.
"Lorelei, thank you for coming all this way."
Professor Oak paused his experiment and looked toward her.
"There’s no need for formalities, Professor."
Lorelei nodded slightly before asking directly,
"Where is the man now?"
"Follow me."
Professor Oak turned and led the way.
They soon arrived at the garden behind the laboratory.
Morning sunlight filtered through gaps in the foliage, scattering patches of light across the ground.
Haruto was sitting on the grass with Alolan Ninetales nestled beside him.
He held several homemade pastries and fed them to the Pokémon piece by piece.
The atmosphere between them was peaceful and warm, while a gentle sweetness lingered in the air.
"Haruto, the League’s representative has arrived," Professor Oak announced.
Haruto looked up at Lorelei, a faint trace of surprise flashing through his eyes.
He had not expected the Pokémon League to send someone of Elite Four rank.
That alone demonstrated how seriously they regarded him.
Haruto knew something about Lorelei.
Although she was famous as an Ice-type specialist, most of her primary Pokémon were also Water types. Calling her an Ice-and-Water specialist would have been equally accurate.
Her strength was respectable even among the Elite Four.
After briefly introducing them, Professor Oak waved a hand without hesitation.
"You two can discuss the details. I still have research data to organize, so I won’t disturb you."
With that, he hurried away.
There was still far too much information waiting to be recorded.
Silence returned to the garden.
Lorelei stepped forward first, offering a polished smile as she extended her hand.
"Hello, Mr. Haruto."
"I’m Lorelei. On behalf of the Pokémon League, allow me to welcome you to the Pokémon world."
As she spoke, she curiously examined him.
He stood tall and carried himself with calm confidence.
There was no hostility or violence in his presence, yet he possessed an inexplicable depth, as though countless secrets lay hidden beneath the surface.
Lorelei could not help wanting to learn more.
Haruto rose and briefly shook her hand before releasing it.
"Pleasure to meet you, Lorelei. I’m Suzuki Haruto, a chef and Gourmet Hunter."
After their introductions, Lorelei skipped any further pleasantries and moved directly to the purpose of her visit.
"Professor Oak has already informed us about the ingredient you possess."
"The League considers this matter extremely important. I came today to discuss your specific requirements."
"Provided the terms are suitable, the League is prepared to purchase a large quantity."
A faint smile appeared on Haruto’s face.
He took out a neatly folded sheet of paper and offered it to her.
"This is a list of the Pokémon I require, including the species and quantities. The League can use it as a reference."
Lorelei accepted the paper, unfolded it, and began reading carefully.
The list had been clearly divided into categories.
The first section contained a long series of Pokémon capable of producing unusual ingredients:
Capsakid, Shuckle, Nacli, Veluza, Bounsweet, Tsareena...
Beside many of their names, Haruto had written, "The more, the better."
Lorelei studied the entries without surprise.
Professor Oak had already informed the League that Haruto’s primary interest lay in Pokémon capable of producing culinary ingredients.
The list matched what they had expected.
The only difficulty was that the species were scattered across many different regions.
Several came from Paldea, Galar, and other distant locations rather than Kanto or Johto.
Acquiring sufficient numbers would require coordination between the League’s regional branches.
Still, that was not beyond the League’s capabilities.
It would simply take time.
Lorelei continued reading.
The second section mainly consisted of Grass-type Pokémon:
Bulbasaur, Snivy, Skiddo, Floette, Lilligant...
