Whitebeard’s brow furrowed sharply, surprise flashing through his eyes.

He knew Teach had stolen the Dark-Dark Fruit, but he understood very little about what the fruit could actually do. He certainly had not expected it to be capable of nullifying the vibrations created by the Tremor-Tremor Fruit.

Blackbeard tightened his grip around Whitebeard’s wrist, a vicious grin spreading across his face.

Now that he had physical contact, Whitebeard could no longer use his Devil Fruit ability.

Whitebeard instinctively tried to activate the Tremor-Tremor Fruit again, but no matter how much he tried, the power simply would not respond.

"Don’t bother, Pops!"

Teach noticed what he was trying to do and looked even more pleased with himself.

"In front of me, the wielder of the Dark-Dark Fruit, every Devil Fruit power is useless!"

"Zehahaha! This is the power of the most dangerous Devil Fruit in the world!"

Blackbeard laughed wildly, unable to hide the pride in his voice.

The Dark-Dark Fruit had been his obsession for decades.

It was the one power Teach believed would allow him to fulfill his ambition of dominating the seas.

For its sake, he had been willing to hide aboard Whitebeard’s ship for decades, pretending to be nothing more than an ordinary crewman with no ambitions of his own.

For its sake, he had murdered a crewmate without hesitation and betrayed the Whitebeard Pirates.

But even the Dark-Dark Fruit alone was not enough.

Teach wanted more.

Blackness began pouring from beneath his feet.

Thick and bottomless, the darkness spread rapidly across the ground, carrying a terrifying force that seemed capable of swallowing everything it touched.

"Black Hole!"

The darkness completely engulfed the ground beneath Whitebeard.

He could clearly feel a powerful gravitational pull dragging at his enormous body, slowly pulling him downward.

Whitebeard had no idea what would happen if he allowed himself to be swallowed by that darkness, but it certainly would not be anything pleasant.

Even so, there was no panic on his face.

So what if his Devil Fruit had been sealed?

Edward Newgate had never relied solely on the Tremor-Tremor Fruit to become Whitebeard.

Without changing expression, he raised Murakumogiri.

An overwhelming surge of Conqueror’s Haki wrapped around the blade.

Black-red lightning crackled violently along its edge, and the sheer force of the Haki seemed to tear at the surrounding air, producing a piercing whine.

The smug smile on Blackbeard’s face disappeared instantly.

Terror replaced it.

All of his arrogance vanished in a heartbeat.

’Conqueror’s Haki coating?!’

Teach did not waste even a second thinking about how Whitebeard was still capable of using it.

He immediately started begging.

"WAIT! POPS, STOP! I’M YOUR SON!"

"You’re really going to kill me?! Pops!"

He screamed desperately as he released Whitebeard’s wrist and scrambled backward on his hands and feet.

But the moment Teach let go, it was already too late.

Murakumogiri came crashing down.

Blackbeard desperately coated his entire body in Armament Haki, but against Whitebeard’s Conqueror’s Haki-infused strike, his defense might as well have been paper.

The naginata tore across his chest.

A horrific wound immediately opened from his shoulder down toward his abdomen, so deep that bone was visible beneath the torn flesh.

For a moment, it looked as though Whitebeard had nearly split him in half.

"AAAAAAAGH!!"

A bloodcurdling scream erupted from Blackbeard as blood sprayed from the wound.

His entire body was launched sideways and smashed into the already devastated Marine Headquarters building.

Boom!

The structure, barely standing after everything it had endured, collapsed even further under the impact.

Stone and shattered masonry rained down and buried Teach beneath another pile of rubble as dust filled the air.

Whitebeard did not hesitate.

He turned and threw a punch through the air at the other Blackbeard Pirates, who were still frozen in shock.

The Tremor-Tremor Fruit erupted at full force.

A violent shockwave swept over the entire crew.

Every member of the Blackbeard Pirates spat blood and was hurled away like broken dolls, crashing heavily across the battlefield.

Having casually dealt with the rest of them, Whitebeard tightened his grip on Murakumogiri and continued walking toward the rubble where Teach had landed.

The killing intent surrounding him had not diminished in the slightest.

High above Marineford, Haruto’s eyes practically lit up as he watched Whitebeard beat the hell out of Blackbeard.

He immediately pulled out another half of a Soda Watermelon and dug in enthusiastically.

"Now that’s satisfying."

"Absolutely brutal. I love it."

As Teach struggled out of the dust and rubble below, Haruto chewed on a mouthful of watermelon and suddenly had a strange thought.

’If Whitebeard knew Teach was actually Rocks’ son, would he hesitate and let him live?’

The thought lasted only a moment before Haruto discarded it.

Even if he knew, Haruto certainly had no intention of bringing it up.

Besides, if Rocks himself somehow came back to life and saw the kind of treacherous bastard Teach had become, he might be the first person to beat his own son to death.

With no one interfering, Marshall D. Teach was eventually beaten to death under Whitebeard’s relentless attacks.

Once Blackbeard had been dealt with, Whitebeard wasted no time.

After forcing Akainu back, he immediately began withdrawing with his crew.

Akainu stood there seething, molten magma dripping steadily from his body and burning black pits into the stone beneath his feet.

He had been so close.

Just a little more, and he could have erased those two cursed bloodlines from the world.

But when he looked around, Kizaru was wearing his usual detached expression, clearly unwilling to involve himself any further.

Aokiji had already disappeared entirely, obviously having no interest in continuing a pointless battle.

The remaining Marines had also lost most of their will to fight.

Akainu alone could not possibly stop the entire Whitebeard Pirates.

No matter how furious he was, he could only grit his teeth and watch them retreat toward the harbor.

Before long, the surviving members of the Whitebeard Pirates had boarded their ships.

A collective sense of relief swept through the fleet before erupting into thunderous cheers.

They had lost many people.

But Ace had been rescued.

They had gone to war with Marine Headquarters and achieved what they came for.

They had won.

Anchors were raised.

Sails swelled beneath the ocean wind as the Whitebeard Pirates’ fleet began sailing away from Marineford.

And with that, the Summit War finally came to an end.

The Marines had lost.

...

Haruto leaned against the railing of one of the Whitebeard Pirates’ ships, looking back at the ruined Marineford with a smile.

He had only cooked a couple of dishes.

Yet those dishes had completely changed the outcome of the Summit War.

Not long after the Whitebeard fleet disappeared beyond the horizon, a twin-masted ship arrived outside Marineford’s harbor.

The unmistakable skull-and-crossbones of the Red Hair Pirates snapped in the sea breeze.

Lucky Roux stood on deck with a huge piece of roasted meat hanging from his mouth. With his cheeks still stuffed, he looked toward the red-haired man at the bow.

"Boss, looks like we’re late. The whole thing’s already over."

Shanks frowned as he surveyed the devastated Marineford.

The air still carried the heavy stench of blood and gunpowder, while even the seawater around the harbor had been stained a murky dark red.

The scale of the destruction made it obvious just how brutal the battle had been.

After thinking for a moment, Shanks turned toward Benn Beckman.

"What’s the situation?"

Beckman held a cigarette between his lips, exhaled a slow stream of smoke, then pulled out a Den Den Mushi and made a call.

"The Whitebeard Pirates definitely withdrew. There isn’t even a ship left in the harbor."

Yasopp rested his rifle over one shoulder and scratched his head helplessly.

"Well, looks like we came all this way for nothing."

"What now, Captain? We’re not seriously just turning around and going home, are we?"

Even Shanks looked somewhat resigned.

He had rushed here specifically to stop a war that could reshape the balance of the entire world.

He simply had not expected it to end this quickly.

Unfortunately, the seas were unlikely to become any calmer afterward.

Before Shanks had arrived, both the Beasts Pirates and the Big Mom Pirates had already taken advantage of Whitebeard’s absence from the New World and begun making moves against his territory.

Now that the Whitebeard Pirates were returning, conflict between the three forces was practically inevitable.

"Back to the New World."

Shanks’ tone became more serious as he looked toward the distant sea.

"The New World is about to become a complete mess."

After a brief pause, he added,

"And find out exactly what happened during this war."

With that decision made, the Red Hair Pirates turned their ship around and headed toward the Sabaody Archipelago.

Their next step was coating the ship before returning to the New World.
