Days after the battle. It was unknown who had triumphed and who had fallen. However, even as the mystery remains unsolved, the world continues to spin, and time continues to flow mercilessly. Using the notes Laurel left behind for Aisha, the process went smoothly.
Those remaining in Vast Expanse had entered the Magic Academy of Roa as planned, their loyalty far stronger than ever before. Others left for opportunities and missions they must accomplish. All had waited for the return of their leader.
Some remained, others went their own way, each to their own new encounters. One thing was for sure: none of the opportunities they had encountered during the six months after the clash between the Gods of North and War can be considered normal.
…
Asura Kingdom, capital Arusu.
"Surprise—miss me?”
Reida happily walked back to base, thinking about new ways to play with the cute little brat. However, what greeted her wasn’t the sight of a cursing brat but a bunch of crying children. Her granddaughter was sitting in the corner of the room.
Isolte was drenched in tears, weeping and crying while muttering to herself.
“… Should’ve been me… I should’ve blocked that sword…”
“… Isolte?”
Isolte flinched at Reida’s voice. Slowly, her gaze went up as she stared at Reida. Slowly, tears fell as the child started crying.
“Sniff, sniff. Grand-Grandma.”
Okay, what in the devil happened while she was gone? Did Laurel cause trouble? But then where’s Laurel?
“What’s wrong?”
“Laurel… Laurel… Because of me… He-he’d lost his arm. Laurel lost his arm.”
“What?”
“He lost his arm because I couldn’t block it. Wah!”
Isolte had returned to the capital with the promise of reaching the pinnacle of Water God Style swordsmanship. The news of the New World Powerhouse had changed the tides of Asura’s political games, given Philip overwhelming leeway to plot and scheme.
While many had tried to bring him down using underhanded methods, no one managed to bypass Ghislaine’s defenses.
…
Red Dragon Lower Jaw.
“DRAGON GOD ORSTED.”
“…?!”
The man wearing a helmet stared at the lost lamb who was so overwhelmed that she fell down and pissed herself. Behind her was her mother, who remained standing, but she too had the expression of utter terror.
The rest had fainted, while their beasts of burden all jumped off the cliff. The man stared at his companion and turned back to the tiny maid in front of her.
“I-I AM AISHA! AISHA GREYRAT!”
“…”
… Aisha had nearly fainted from the mere presence of the man. Was this how her brother had felt standing in front of a Powerhouse? But despite the overwhelming pressure she felt, Aisha tried with all her might to stand straight.
Fear did not stop her brother from fighting the North God. And if he had won, he would have walked on his two feet to meet the Dragon God as well, standing eye to eye as another World Powerhouse. Then what about Aisha, who wanted to serve her brother to the fullest?
If he had truly won, it meant there he was now a true Powerhouse. And as a Powerhouse, it was certain that his future guests are going to be strong and powerful people from all over the world. What use was she as a maid if she couldn't even stand straight in the presence of a guest?
And she was not alone. The notebook her brother handed to her had full details of what and what not to say, how to convince him, and what they could benefit from him. On the other hand, she had Mica, who was always helping her behind the scenes.
“Aisha Greyrat.”
“Hic!”
She already had both the means and method fed to her. All she had to do was stand straight and seal the deal. She could do this. Deep breathes…
“I came to make a contract with you.”
…
Far away, in the Begaritt Continent.
The very nature of this continent was a death zone for any average person. The continent is home to monsters that rival those found in the Demon Continent. And yet, under the moonlit night of the harsh desert stood a beautiful woman, unaffected by such dangers.
Raven black hair flowing downwards like waterfalls, eyes as pretty as rubies, and fair skin as beautiful as snow, emphasized by the reflection of the night. She was a woman whose beauty caused countless wars between great empires.
The woman sat down on one of the countless mountains of blue-skinned female corpses. As she greedily drunk from the water bottle, a blonde-haired angel with a voluptuous figure underneath her white silk robe flew down beside her.
“Sis. I’ve finished here.”
“M-hm.”
She nodded. Staring down at the total number of corpses, the angel asked the raven-haired woman beside her.
“Do you think it could’ve been due to Laplace’s intervention?”
“Unlikely. However, we can’t really rule out the possibility.”
Another succubus jumped in the fray and ended up joining it's comrades as part of the massive red carpet made from blood. Melantha silently looked at the waves of succubus and inevitably muttered.
“There are way too many succubus. Perhaps it was fortunate that Laurel couldn’t join us.”
“… Yeah. What a shame, huh?”
“?”
“I’m talking about Laurel. Isn’t it a shame that he wasn’t with us right now?”
“Nonsense. Angel, with how many succubi here, he would’ve lost control on sight.”
“Exactly!”
“???”
“What? Don’t give me that look, sis. You always said you wanted him to let his guard down around you more. Wouldn’t doing the deed solve everything?”
“…”
Absurd as is, Angel made a good point. Men tend to let their guard down when it comes to women. Especially if the males have feelings for their mates. In that sense, physical intimacy was perhaps truly the fastest way to break down all walls.
“… Perhaps it is truly a shame indeed.”
That said, Melantha did not regret that decision. She had no intention of risking his life for something as trivial as that. Blood flowed in reverse, condensing into a sphere as she gulped it down in one go. Perhaps next time… Next time, when there’s less, she might try.
Staring at all the corpses, she couldn’t help but frown. How bad was the situation if the first day was like this? She could only lament in annoyance.
…
Somewhere near the Zanto port, lights of a teleport circle shone, and a battered, bruised, and severely wounded young man had appeared. He was on the verge of dying.
“Is that him?”
“Wow. To achieve such severe wounds, just what sort of monster did he face?”
However, he did not die but instead was picked up by two grown men. He too would now receive a fortuitous encounter far beyond anyone’s expectations.
