Mushroom Lord in the Underground City
Chapter 819 - 805: The Changes in FeixiChapter 819: Chapter 805: The Changes in Feixi
Under the collapsed node tower, Alama’s eyes were torn with anger as he roared the enemy’s name: "Sigmund!"
The slightly plump Sigmund had a faint smile on his face as he reached out a hand towards Alama.
[Blood Manipulation: Hundred Weapons]
Weapons formed of blood, like knives, spears, swords, and halberds, whistled from all directions, but Alama swung his greatsword in a circle, creating a storm that shredded all the blood weapons to pieces.
However, as he exerted his strength, Sigmund had already appeared in front of him.
Alama swept his sword horizontally, but lacking momentum, it was easily blocked by Sigmund.
Then Sigmund lifted his leg and kicked, sending this once evenly matched rival into the ruins of the collapsed tower.
Coughing up blood as he crawled from the debris, Alama asked incredulously, "Just one year, how could you have become so much stronger?"
Alama found it hard to accept; a year ago, Sigmund had barely been on par with him, relying on more troops and experts to capture High Castle Fortress. Now, he had the power to dismantle the node tower Alama was guarding, right in front of him.
With faster speed, sharper insight, and some strange new abilities, he couldn’t understand how his old opponent could have improved so significantly in such a short time.
Alama raised his sword again, but Sigmund sidestepped with a far greater speed than before, swinging his blood blade, splitting open Alama’s chest armor and drawing a pool of blood, leaving a deep, bone-revealing wound.
Having landed a hit, he turned calmly, raising his hand towards the apparently empty air behind him.
Thud—!
A massive shockwave erupted from his palm, clenching an invisible fist.
[Thunder Robe Level 6]
Electricity surged from Sigmund’s body, traveling along the invisible arm, and a muffled grunt emanated from the air in front of him.
The blood blade slashed again, sending a stream of blood spraying through the air.
Light twisted, and a severed arm fell from the void, crashing bloodily onto the ground.
Not far away, the butler Eric knelt on the ground, his left shoulder empty and his body scorched by electric burns.
He raised his head to look at Alama, struggling to remind him, "My lord... he has... means beyond magic power and blood sensing... be careful..."
The failed ambush made Alama’s expression even more grave. "The power of thunder... that’s not the effect of some accessory on your body, is it?"
Sigmund flexed his slightly numb arm, distinctly aware that his [Lightning Resistance] had increased yet again.
Facing his defeated rival’s questioning, he smiled and answered, "No, it isn’t. These are my newly acquired powers. There are plenty more. If you want, I can demonstrate them all on you."
Alama braced himself with the longsword and stood up again. "The Demon King’s methods, really this powerful?"
That question made Sigmund fall silent for a moment.
He knew clearly that it wasn’t the Demon King’s doing; it was entirely his own transformation.
Throughout the year, he’d repeatedly had a similar dream.
In the dream, an existence he had never seen before would demonstrate various skills on an open space.
Half-demon, Lizardman, Human, Dwarf... anything was possible.
Upon waking, he would obtain or enhance corresponding skills.
After long experiments, he only figured out that the acquired skills were related to his needs and thus, enhanced many skills in a targeted manner.
This was the reason he had completely dominated over Alama in this confrontation; although their levels seemed similar, their strength was on entirely different planes.
Unfortunately, to this day, he hadn’t figured out how this dream-learning ability came about, and although he had several guesses, they lacked concrete evidence.
Nevertheless, regardless of the source, being able to use it to trample Alama was a good thing.
Having completed his task of destroying the tower, Sigmund did not rush to deal with Alama but sauntered over to Eric.
"The villain who harmed the lady and madam!" Eric swung his only remaining left fist, and Sigmund simply sliced off this arm as well.
"Ugh!" Eric collapsed to the ground in pain, his eyes filled with hatred as he looked at Sigmund.
After Lin Jun revealed his identity, there was no longer any need to hide the matter of the Strange Dream.
Inanna, despite using it as proof to show that Puki stood by her side, caused Eric to fall into deep self-blame.
Combined with the matter of Inanna’s mother, new and old grudges fueled his hatred for Sigmund.
Unfortunately, the gulf in strength left him powerless.
Sigmund grabbed the butler’s hair, lifting him up, and looked towards Alama on the other side.
"What? Are you going to play the hostage game with that despicable tactic?" Alama asked, his face solemn.
"Hostage? No, no." Sigmund shook his head with a smile. "I just want you to watch him die miserably."
With that, he casually swung his sword, adding a non-fatal blood hole to Eric’s body.
"Sigmund, I’ll kill you!"
"How about saying something different?"
Alama, charging once more, was full of rage and tried several times to trick Sigmund into achieving mutual destruction, but each time, Sigmund either evaded or blocked.
After several rounds, it was Alama who sustained new injuries, finally nailed to the ground by Sigmund’s control of multiple blood weapons.
Watching the still-angry struggling Alama, Sigmund was in a good mood: "Don’t worry, I will reunite your daughter with you afterward."
He smiled and reached for Eric behind him, only to grab air.
Sigmund’s smile disappeared, and when he turned to look back, Eric was nowhere to be seen; even the blood trail stopped where he stood.
Swiftly turning back, he witnessed Alama nailed to the ground slowly sinking into a pool of shadows.
"Who’s there? Sneaking around, show yourself!"
The blood blade descended from the sky, but Alama was already completely devoured by the shadow; the blood blade landed on the shadow, inflicting no damage.
Soon after, the shadow moved and burrowed into the ruins of a nearby tower, quickly disappearing without a trace.
"Who? Just who?"
Massive blood soldiers congealed again, frantically hacking at the ruins, venting Sigmund’s anger.
Elsewhere, in a relatively safe area, Number Two and Number Seven jumped out from the shadows, then used tentacles to pull the dying Alama and Eric out.
Both of them showed signs of extensive elemental corrosion; any later, and they’d have to be sent directly onto the fungal mat.
Number Seven took a Healing Potion out from his stomach, pouring it over the two as he asked Number Two, "Who are they? Why did you bring me to save them? I was battling..."
"I don’t know about the armless one, just incidental, but this one..." Number Two pointed to the unconscious Alama, "is Pink Puki’s old man! I saw him in the Mushroom Lord’s Memory Crystal!"
"Oh—!" Number Seven suddenly realized, recalling Pink Puki’s embrace, nodding seriously with the mushroom cap. "Then we sure need to save them."
What Number Seven didn’t know was that Number Two had other plans.
He’d already figured out how to use this rescue to morally bind Pink Puki to his faction, and then use Pink Puki’s unrivaled technique to gather other mushrooms under his banner.
Not to mention anything else, just snatching Number Four would be like cutting off one of Number One’s tentacles.
"Hehehe, hahaha!" The thought of the future where Number One, all by himself, reluctantly knelt at his feet made Number Two shiver with excitement beneath the mushroom cap.
...
Outside, with only four of the seven node towers left, if just one more fell, Oath City would truly enter the countdown to its siege.
The situation grew more dangerous, and the burden of turning the tide fell on Heroic Sophia and Number Ten, the Magic Guide Mushroom.
