The strong words from the professors hit the students right in their chests. Their eyes lit up with fire, their hands making tight fists.
Suddenly, a big voice came through the crystal speakers built into the ceiling.
"LADIES AND GENTLEMEN! THE SUPREME BLESSED TOURNAMENT IS ABOUT TO BEGIN!"
At that exact moment, a loud ping sound came from the public crystal board mounted on the wall.
A public message appeared for all two hundred students to see. The table had been shuffled. The one hundred fights were set, and no students from the same academy were placed together.
Right at the very top, marked as Match 1 of Day 1, was Lynx’s name.
[MATCH 1: Lynx: Aether Blessed Academy VS. Drake: Void Blessed Academy]
The other students looked at the screen, then turned to Lynx.
"Match one?" Lira said, her eyes wide. "You are up first."
"Go out there and crush them, Lynx," one of the fourth year guys shouted from the back.
"Show the Void Empire who owns this continent!"
Lynx stood up smoothly, fixing his collar with a lazy smile. "Do not worry. It will not take five seconds."
Kira and the girls smiled bright at his answer.
"That is more like it," Ava said with a laugh.
"Let us move," Professor Selene said, leading the team out of the room.
They walked out of the tunnel and entered the main arena floor. The sight was amazing. The Central Arena was a giant stone circle with high walls, filled with over two hundred thousand screaming spectators from all four empires in the human continent.
Floating screens hung high up in the sky, broadcasting the event live to millions of people watching from home across every city in the four empires.
The professors and the fifty students walked over to the special area reserved for them. It was located right near the main stage, not up in the crowded spectator stands, so that fighters could step onto the ring easily when their turn came.
The arena commentator stepped up to his podium, his voice booming across the stadium and through the live screens across the continent.
"WELCOME TO DAY ONE OF THE SUPREME BLESSED TOURNAMENT! WE WILL NOW START WITH MATCH ONE OF ROUND ONE!"
The crowd went wild, screaming and waving banners.
"IN THE RED CORNER, FROM THE VOID BLESSED ACADEMY... DRAKE BONANZA!"
A tall, big guy walked out from the opposite tunnel. Drake had big arms, short dark hair, and wore a dark gray uniform.
He stomped his feet on the stone ground, raising his hands to the sky as the home fans of the Void Empire cheered loudly for him.
"AND IN THE BLUE CORNER, FROM THE AETHER BLESSED ACADEMY... LYNX AZARION!"
Lynx walked out slowly from the Aether side. He took easy, calm steps, his hands resting in his jacket pockets.
The very moment his face was picked up by the camera crystal and displayed on the giant floating screens across the stadium, the noise in the arena changed completely.
"Wait! Look at him!"
"Is he really a fighter? He looks like a prince."
"Oh my god, he is so handsome. Look at his eyes!"
Screams erupted from the female sections of the crowd. Women stood up from their seats, waving their hands frantically.
Even across the other three empires watching the live broadcast on their home crystal screens, millions of girls were staring at Lynx with wide eyes, completely amazed by his godly looks.
Lynx walked up the short stairs and stepped onto the wide stone stage. As soon as both fighters were on the platform, a bright sound echoed through the air.
A strong, translucent energy barrier rose up around the stage, sealing the two of them inside so no affinity attacks would fly into the crowd.
Lynx stood there casually. His primordial eyes easily seeing through Drake’s body. He saw that Drake was an A Rank Earth Affinity user with high physical stats and heavy stone mastery.
Lynx smirked, looking at Drake like he was just a small bug.
Drake saw the smirk, and his face twisted with heavy anger. He was already mad that all the girls in the stadium were screaming for Lynx who was an unknown person in this place, and seeing Lynx look at him with so much look down made his blood boil.
"You think you are hot stuff, do you?" Drake growled. He slammed his foot onto the stone stage, causing brown earth mana to surge out from his body.
Through his deep understanding of his Earth affinity, thick, heavy layers of hard stone wrapped around his arms and legs, forming a thick suit of rock armor.
"You think your pretty face will carry you through this tournament?! I will smash your teeth down your throat, kid."
The referee stepped between them, raising his hand into the air. "Fighters, get ready!" the referee shouted.
Drake lowered his stance, his body heavy with earth mana. Lynx just stood there, his hands still in his pockets, his body completely open without any stance at all.
"MATCH 1... BEGIN!" the referee yelled, dropping his hand and leaping backward toward the barrier wall.
"You are going DOWN NOWW!" Drake roared loudly.
He sprinted forward, his heavy stone boots cracking the stone floor with every step. He pushed his mana into his Earth affinity, shaping the ground around his right arm into a massive, heavy earth blade.
He swung his stone covered arm down toward Lynx’s head with all his physical strength.
"EARTH CRUSHER!" Drake shouted.
Lynx did not use any defense. He did not even take his hands out of his jacket pockets.
When the heavy stone arm was just an inch away from his face, Lynx moved his head slightly to the left.
SWISH!
The heavy earth arm sliced through empty air, smashing into the stone floor right where Lynx had been standing.
A cloud of dust and stone chips flew into the air, but Lynx was already leaning casually to the side, his hands still tucked in his pockets.
"What?" Drake gasped, his eyes widening in shock.
Before Drake could pull his arm back up, Lynx took a single, slow step forward. He lifted his right foot and tapped Drake’s left stone knee with a quick, soft kick.
CRACK!
The thick stone armor protecting Drake’s knee shattered instantly from the physical impact. The sudden loss of balance made Drake stumble hard, his big body leaning forward awkwardly.
"Is that all your A Rank Earth affinity can do?" Lynx said softly, his voice carrying clearly through the stage. "You are very slow."
"Shut up!" Drake screamed in embarrassment.
He swung his left elbow backward, using his Earth affinity to sprout heavy rock spikes from his arm, aiming straight for Lynx’s jaw.
Lynx simply tilted his body backward by an inch, letting the sharp rock spikes miss his nose by a hair.
He was completely toying with Drake, dodging every single furious attack with tiny, minimal movements while keeping his hands inside his pockets the entire time.
In the stands, the two hundred thousand people were watching with open mouths.
"He is not even using his hands." a student from the Heather Empire yelled from the crowd.
"He is dodging Drake full affinity attacks like he is walking in a garden!"
On the Aether side, Lira and Ava were laughing out loud. "That’s Lynx for you." Ava said, shaking her head. "He is playing with the poor guy."
Inside the stage, Drake was losing his mind. He was swinging his arms like a crazy person, throwing punches, kicks, and earth spikes, but Lynx moved around him like a shadow.
For ten whole seconds, Drake threw over twenty heavy attacks, and not a single one even touched the fabric of Lynx’s clothes.
Drake was panting heavily, his mana draining fast, his face red with pure shame and rage.
"STOP RUNNING AND FIGHT ME!" Drake screamed, pushing his mana to its limit.
His understanding of his Earth affinity allowed him to force hard rock walls to rise directly from the stage floor on all four sides of Lynx, trying to trap him inside a box of solid stone.
Lynx stood inside the closing walls of stone, his smile turning a bit sharper. "Okay. Game over," Lynx said smoothly.
Before the four stone walls could slam together to crush him, Lynx finally took his right hand out of his jacket pocket.
He did not channel any affinity energy. He did not use any titles or forms. He simply formed a basic, tight fist and threw a plain, straightforward punch straight through the middle of the closing stone wall.
BOOM!
A loud explosion rocked the entire stage inside the barrier.
The four thick stone walls shattered into tiny grains of sand in less than a second. The raw pressure wave from Lynx’s simple fist punch blew through the broken rocks and slammed directly into Drake’s chest.
Drake’s thick rock armor blew apart like cheap paper. His eyes rolled back into his head, the breath completely ripped out of his lungs.
The sheer physical air pressure lifted his heavy, two hundred pound body off the ground and sent him flying backward across the stage like a shooting star.
CRASH!
Drake smashed headfirst into the hard barrier on the far side of the stage. His body bounced off the wall and fell flat onto the stone floor, completely knocked out cold.
The whole fight had ended.
The massive stadium went completely quiet. Two hundred thousand people froze in their seats, staring at the sight of the Void Empire’s strong year four student lying motionless on the ground, and then looking at Lynx, who was calmly dusting off his right sleeve.
Lynx slid his hand back into his jacket pocket, turned his back to the unconscious Drake, and started walking slowly toward the exit gate.
The referee stood near the edge, his eyes wide as plates. He looked at Drake, then looked at Lynx, before quickly grabbing his mana microphone with a shaking hand.
"K-KNOCKOUT!" the referee shouted, his voice shaking. "WINNER OF MATCH 1... LYNX FROM THE AETHER BLESSED ACADEMY!"
The moment the call was made, the quiet stadium exploded into a thunderous roar.
"ONE PUNCH!"
"HE BROKE THROUGH DRAKE A RANK EARTH ARMOR WITH AIR PRESSURE FROM A PUNCH?!"
"LYNX! LYNX! LYNX!"
The cheering was loud enough to shake the stone walls. Millions of viewers watching the live crystal broadcast across the four empires were screaming in their living rooms, stunned by the sheer power and handsome look of the young Aether student.
Lynx stepped off the stone platform as the energy barrier lowered.
As he walked along the side path toward the Aether player seats, his Primordial Vision picked up two specific figures sitting high up in the VIP spectator boxes above the stands. Those two flaunt their wealth everywhere.
Isabel and Amira were standing right near the front glass, watching him with bright, proud smiles on their faces.
Lynx looked up at their box, giving them a quick, handsome wink. Both women smiled even wider, their cheeks turning a soft red.
Lynx walked up the steps to the Aether seating area and sat down right between his girls.
Kira leaned into his side, a warm smile on her face. "You toyed with him for ten seconds just to make him look stupid, didn’t you?"
"Maybe a little bit," Lynx chuckled, wrapping his arm around her waist and pulling her close to his body. "He was talking too much."
Lira, Ava, and Ophelia laughed softly beside them. All around them, the other Aether students were looking at Lynx with wide eyes full of deep respect and awe.
He had just stepped onto the stage, played with a strong fourth year fighter from the Void Empire, and ended him with a simple punch, securing their very first victory of the tournament in absolute style.
And it was just the beginning.
