My Beasts Grind Proficiency For Me
Chapter 541 - 55: Central Continent’s Dawn IslandThe Spiritual Mechanism of the Central Continent accounted for seventy percent of the entire Nine Heavens World. Even though the Grand Arrays of the Noble Sects had sealed away most of the Spiritual Qi, its abundance still surpassed that of the Western Continent.
On the Central Continent’s west coast, the lingering power of the Spirit Veins flowed into the sea and then flourished, forming patch after patch of Spirit Land. Due to the threat of Demon Beasts and a Spiritual Mechanism inferior to that of the mainland, these lands were like chicken ribs: tasteless to eat, yet a pity to discard. This, in turn, gave Independent Cultivators and small Cultivation Clans a place to call home.
After more than ten thousand years of painstaking development—braving the elements and clearing the wilds—the islands of the West Sea had become a blessed land, teeming with Spiritual Qi and home to a convergence of Independent Cultivators, small Cultivation Clans, and minor Sects.
To resist the infiltration and encroachment of the Noble Families and Major Sects, these smaller powers formed a loose coalition known as the Thousand Islands Alliance.
Dawn Island was among the top ten largest islands in the alliance, measuring over two hundred li long and fifty li wide, shaped like a slightly elongated spindle.
Although no Nascent Soul Cultivator presided over the island, it was home to three Golden Core Cultivators known as the Three Friends of Dawn, who had governed it for over three hundred years. Thanks to their diligent rule, Dawn Island grew more prosperous by the day.
But lately, the West Sea had been far from peaceful. Not only were the Demon Beasts growing restless, but there were also occasional appearances by Outer Celestial Demons.
The Demon Beasts were manageable. The Thousand Islands Alliance had been fighting them for ten thousand years and knew how to handle the creatures of the sea. What truly troubled them were the Outer Celestial Demons.
Because the Central Continent’s Heaven and Earth Embryonic Membrane was extremely thick, Outer Celestial Demons were exceedingly rare.
The Cultivators of the Thousand Islands Alliance had absolutely no experience dealing with Celestial Demons. When they were suddenly confronted with them, they suffered disastrous losses.
Several fleets that had set out to hunt Demon Beasts had already suffered heavy casualties after encountering Outer Celestial Demons; some were even wiped out completely.
Left with no choice, the Thousand Islands Alliance requested that its Nascent Soul Cultivator, Cang He True Monarch, lead a few Golden Core Cultivators deep into the sea to investigate. When the group returned, two of the typically high-and-mighty Golden Core Masters were dead. The rest were in a panicked, wretched state, clearly terrified.
Even Cang He True Monarch himself had sustained serious injuries. Upon returning to the Thousand Islands Alliance, he immediately entered seclusion to recover.
With the intricate web of relationships within the Thousand Islands Alliance, it was impossible to keep secrets. Besides, Cang He True Monarch had no intention of hiding the truth. The intelligence his party had gathered quickly spread.
A major incident had occurred in the West Sea Demon Realm. Six unbelievably audacious Nascent Soul Old Demons had secretly assassinated a Demon King from within the Demon Realm.
The Outer Celestial Demons were enraged. They began frantically hunting the six Nascent Soul Old Demons across the West Sea and even commanded the Demon Sects of the Northern Continent to help pinpoint their locations.
Now, over a dozen Nascent Soul Level Outer Celestial Demons, Demons, and other Nascent Soul Old Demons were scouring the West Sea, hunting the six perpetrators. The two sides were killing each other with bloodshot eyes.
The Demon Beasts in the sea were caught in the crossfire and naturally fled toward the coast, creating considerable turmoil for the Thousand Islands Alliance.
Once this news spread, not only did the beast-hunting fleets stop venturing out to sea, but even the transoceanic fleets that lacked sufficient Power also suspended their voyages, waiting for this unforeseen disaster to pass.
Outside Dawn Island, countless Flying Boats of every description were now densely moored. Cultivators from all over were temporarily staying on the island, ironically creating an image of bustling prosperity.
Chaoyang Marketplace on Dawn Island, in particular, was overflowing with people.
Those unwilling to spend the Spirit Stones to rent a Cave Mansion had no choice but to sleep in the wilderness.
In the Marketplace, a local broker was showing a client a selection of Cave Mansions.
"This way, sir. The B Level Cave Mansions in our Chaoyang Marketplace connect directly to the island’s Tier Two Spirit Vein. It’s more than enough to support the cultivation of a Foundation Establishment Cultivator like yourself."
The broker had been working in Chaoyang Marketplace for some twenty years. He’d seen hundreds of Foundation Establishment Cultivators, but this was the first time he had ever seen one traveling with so many children.
Yang Jing had used his Fetal Transformation Divine Techniques to disguise himself as an unremarkable, middle-aged man. Even his Magical Power seemed much cruder, matching that of a Foundation Establishment Cultivator who practiced Water Techniques.
After all, the Thousand Islands Alliance was located at sea, so Cultivators who practiced Water Techniques were the most numerous.
He sized up the three-chambered Cave Mansion and nodded in satisfaction. Although it was connected to a Tier Two Spirit Vein, it could barely support the daily cultivation of a single Foundation Establishment Cultivator.
’However, the abundant Spiritual Mechanism within my Inner World is more than enough for my disciples’ cultivation. This Cave Mansion is just a temporary stopping point.’
Yang Jing had crossed the West Sea and arrived at the Thousand Islands Alliance three days prior. He first concealed his presence and investigated the local customs before taking on his current appearance to rent a Cave Mansion.
’Judging by the broker’s reaction, he hasn’t realized I’m not a local.’
"Sir, if you have any skills to offer, or if you need to sell any Magical Artifacts or Elixirs, feel free to come find me."
The broker accepted a bag of Spirit Stones, a satisfied expression spreading across his face. He then took out a Token and handed it to Yang Jing.
After a few perfunctory words, Yang Jing used the Token to open the Cave Mansion’s Array Formation. He had not chosen to head immediately for the Nine Marvels Sect after arriving in the Central Continent.
As a newcomer to the Central Continent, his understanding was limited to his Sect’s old records and the travelogues of his predecessors, all of which were long outdated. Furthermore, the Nine Marvels Sect was located deep in the continent’s heartland, and the journey would take him through the territories of far too many Sects and powerful Noble Families.
If he were to forge ahead blindly, he would inevitably encounter some mishap or unwittingly violate a local taboo.
If he revealed he was from the Western Continent, he might also expose himself as a Cultivator from the Five Elements True Spirit Sect, here to vie for the Nine Marvelous Creation Qi.
There were plenty of people who would be happy to eliminate a competitor before they even reached the Upper Realm fragment.
After all, the Central Continent was nothing like the Western Continent. Here, the Spiritual Mechanism was abundant, and Sects and Noble Families were practically neighbors, leaving none of the vast, open spaces found in the West.
That was why Yang Jing had decided to first gather information about the Central Continent on Dawn Island before planning a safe route to the Nine Marvels Sect.
Even though it was only a temporary residence, Iron Head still led a few disciples in cleaning the Cave Mansion, thoroughly checking the Array Formation for any hidden backdoors.
After all, one could never be too cautious. A Golden Core Influence like the one on Dawn Island might not be above secretly engaging in the dirty work of Tribulation Cultivators.
Once they confirmed the Array Formation was secure, Yang Jing ordered Yinjiao to investigate the Marketplace and gather records. Iron Head and the others remained to guard the Cave Mansion, while he himself entered his Inner World.
His progress in wearing down the Divine Sense Imprint on the Purple Qi Spirit-Birth Furnace had been delayed while they were on the run. Fortunately, due to Danxia True Monarch’s death, most of the Divine Sense Imprint within the furnace had already dissipated. The remnants had become listless and inert, no longer active as before.
Yang Jing decided to seize this opportunity to break the Restriction on the Purple Qi Spirit-Birth Furnace in one fell swoop and release Si Taizhen.
Doing so would finally settle the karmic bond between them.
