My Beasts Grind Proficiency For Me

Chapter 545 - 59: Plotting for an Island

The Demon Birds flocked together, riding a pitch-black demonic wind. Lending each other strength, they caught up to the Flying Boat at a speed visible to the naked eye.

A piercing shriek was heard.

Yinjiao’s hands formed a Sword Mantra. His Flying Sword shot into the air like a rainbow, transforming into a Water Dragon with shimmering scales as it charged straight toward the incoming Demon Birds.

"BANG!"

The lead Demon Bird was instantly blown apart by the Water Dragon, exploding into a cloud of watery mist.

Roaring and coiling, the agile Water Dragon bared its fangs and brandished its claws, slaughtering the rest of the Demon Birds. It then reverted to the form of a Flying Sword, returning to its sheath with a CLANG.

"Sword Light Transformation!"

The Cultivators on the Flying Boat cried out in amazement.

Although the Central Continent was a land of exceptional individuals, its number of geniuses far surpassing other lands, and Sword Cultivators who specialized in Flying Swords were not uncommon, one who could master Sword Light Transformation in the Foundation Establishment Realm was still a genius of the highest caliber.

"Let’s go! The Golden Core Demon King could be after us at any moment."

Iron Head and Yinjiao’s display of power greatly increased their authority on the Flying Boat.

The Cultivators on the Flying Boat no longer cared about conserving Spirit Stones. They dumped heaps of them from their Storage Bags, piling them onto the Array.

The massive supply of Spiritual Mechanism caused the entire Flying Boat’s hull to tremble violently as its speed suddenly surged.

Fortunately, the Flying Boat held together, swaying unsteadily as it descended back into the airspace above Dawn Island.

"Thankfully, the Golden Core Demon King must have been held up by something. Otherwise, it wouldn’t have been so easy for us to escape."

one Cultivator said, still shaken from the ordeal.

During a demon tide, reconnaissance Cultivators like them faced the greatest danger; many often perished in the tide, their bodies never to be found.

"But with this achievement, we can be recommended by the three Masters of Dawn Island to join the Thousand Islands Alliance."

Although the Thousand Islands Alliance was a loose confederation, it wasn’t something one could join at will. Every five years, the main alliance would grant a batch of membership slots to each island, and entry required a recommendation from the Island Master.

Naturally, the Island Masters gave most of these slots to their own disciples and descendants.

Only during a major event like a demon tide would they offer a few slots, a grand gesture to attract talent, compelling Independent Cultivators to fight to the death for a position.

Independent Cultivators were free, but by no means at ease. Even Foundation Establishment Cultivators like themselves had to worry about Spirit Stones every day.

Furthermore, with their level of Talent, they would likely be stuck in the Foundation Establishment Stage for life without some great fortuitous encounter. Only by joining the Thousand Islands Alliance did they have a chance of advancing further.

The Three Friends of Dawn were their greatest role models.

All the Independent Cultivators present secretly sized up Iron Head and Yinjiao. They knew that with the duo’s Power, they were bound to shine brilliantly in the coming demon tide.

Soon, Cultivators on Dawn Island noticed the battered Flying Boat. Shocked, they remotely verified their identities before opening the Grand Array and allowing the Flying Boat to land on the island.

What these Cultivators didn’t know was that just beneath the ocean surface they had left, a massive Demon Beast, part ox and part fish, was letting out a mournful, wretched cry.

This Demon Beast possessed the bloodline of a Kui Ox. Its strength was immense, and its Demon Qi flared with the intensity of a raging flame, its Qi Power seemingly endless. It was a tyrant among the nearby Demon Kings.

But now, its head was pinned firmly to the ground by a foot.

The downward force was so immense that the Demon Bull’s skull, which was as durable as a Magical Treasure, had been brutally cracked.

Si Taizhen glanced at the Demon Bull on the ground. Seeing it struggle violently, she slowly increased the pressure under her foot. The Demon Bull let out a final, mournful cry, blood spewing from its seven orifices as it was crushed to death.

After Refining the Innate Yin Yang Qi, her Power had soared once again. In the Golden Core Stage, those who could defeat her were now few and far between.

This Demon Bull was powerful enough to serve as a general in the Jade Poison Kingdom and dominate a territory, yet it couldn’t even last a few moves against her.

Yang Jing saw that the Demon Bull’s qi and blood were pure, so he collected its body into his Inner World.

Most of the Demon Beasts in the sea were close to the Demon Realm and thus tainted with Demonic Qi to varying degrees. Although Yang Jing himself did not fear Demonic Qi, it made the meat of the Demon Beasts extremely poor in quality. Furthermore, his disciples were highly averse to Demonic Qi contamination. As a result, the master and his disciples had been subsisting entirely on Blood Pearls that Yang Jing had Refined from Celestial Demons.

While the Blood Pearls could serve as sustenance, they were utterly tasteless. And though Dawn Island had some delicacies, the meat of a Golden Core Demon King was certainly not something that would be sold to the public.

The master and disciples were so sick of their food, their taste buds had practically gone numb. Finding this Demon Bull today meant they could finally have a decent feast.

The Demons in the sea continued their vast and mighty procession toward the Thousand Islands Alliance, completely unaware that their Demon King had just been trampled to death.

Yang Jing used his Water Escape technique, carrying Si Taizhen with him as they sped toward Dawn Island.

They passed almost flush against the Demons, yet the creatures were completely oblivious, perceiving their passage as nothing more than a current stirred up by a companion swimming by.

Si Taizhen was long past being surprised by such a masterful Water Escape. The abilities of her master, Yang Jing, were far more powerful than she had ever anticipated.

The commotion from her suppression of the Ox Demon had also been perfectly concealed by Yang Jing’s Water Escape.

This Cultivator, Yang Jing, had a proficiency in Water Escape that far surpassed even that of the Demons who had spent their entire lives in the water.

"I don’t think those Three Friends of Dawn are good people. With your abilities, Master, why not just get rid of them and take their place?"

Si Taizhen said, a little puzzled as she sensed Yang Jing’s aura.

She knew Yang Jing possessed Magic that could alter his appearance and aura, which he had used to run circles around those few Nascent Soul Old Demons. He could easily take over Dawn Island.

Yang Jing shook his head. The Three Friends of Dawn had a wide network of acquaintances. Perfectly impersonating them for a long time would be very risky. Besides, all he wanted from the Thousand Islands Alliance was a temporary foothold and to use their channels to gather intelligence. There was no need to resort to a method that would make the entire Thousand Islands Alliance his sworn enemy.

After all, the Thousand Islands Alliance also had several Nascent Soul Level experts.

Infiltrating with a hidden identity and murdering someone to take their place were two completely different concepts. For the former, as long as one wasn’t too outrageous, an organization like the Thousand Islands Alliance would turn a blind eye.

But if someone were to kill and impersonate a member, the Thousand Islands Alliance would have to take the matter seriously and investigate until the truth was brought to light.

"This demon tide isn’t simple. It’s too sudden," Yang Jing judged. "A large island like Dawn Island might be able to withstand it, but some of the smaller islands may not be so lucky."

’According to the travelogues I’ve collected, demon tides usually show signs for up to a decade before their arrival. That gives the islands in the alliance time to repair their Arrays and prepare Spirit Stones, Talismans, and Magical Artifacts.’

’But this demon tide gave only a dozen days’ warning. The small and medium-sized islands have had no time to prepare supplies or repair their Arrays.’

’Whenever a demon tide occurs, if an island is occupied by Demons, any Cultivator within the Thousand Islands Alliance who can reclaim the island becomes its new owner.’
