My Beasts Grind Proficiency For Me
Chapter 552 - 66: Deep into the Central ContinentWu Huai’an stroked his long beard, gazing out the window.
In his view, while Dawn Island’s current income was slightly less than when the Three Friends of Dawn ruled, its potential was far greater than before.
The Three Friends of Dawn may have had high Cultivation, but they were clueless about the Hundred Skills of Cultivation. Even though they recruited some Alchemists and Artifact Refiners as Honored Guest Elders, their skills were mediocre. They could only refine low-quality Spirit Pills and had almost no competitive edge within the Thousand Islands Alliance.
But now, the Golden and Silver Boys had somehow recruited top-tier Alchemists and Artifact Refiners. They could provide a stable supply of Tier Two Upper Grade Elixirs and even occasionally release a few Tier Three Spirit Pills.
Based on these Alchemists alone, Wu Huai’an was fully confident in the Golden and Silver Boys’ ability to repay their loan, to say nothing of the fact they also had an Artifact Refiner of equally impressive skill.
"Iron Island Master!"
Looking up to see Iron Head enter, Wu Huai’an immediately stood up with a solicitous air and led him into the tea room.
"With Dawn Island in your hands, Iron Island Master, your Core Formation is just around the corner."
"I’ll take that as a good omen, Brother Wu."
After a few more pleasantries, Iron Head asked, "When is the Thousand Islands Alliance’s trade caravan scheduled to depart?"
The Thousand Islands Alliance was located far out at sea. To facilitate trade with the Central Continent, its trade caravans were highly developed, with fleets coming and going daily. However, caravans traveling to the Central Continent Inland were much rarer.
The journey to the Central Continent was long. Not only did they have to consider what kinds of Spiritual Objects to sell and purchase, but they also had to fend off the covetous eyes of Tribulation Cultivators. A single island could never support a caravan of such a scale.
Long-distance caravans carrying massive amounts of Spirit Stones were the most coveted targets for these Tribulation Cultivator gangs.
Traveling hundreds of thousands of miles deep into the Central Continent without a Nascent Soul True Monarch standing guard was no different from throwing meat buns at a dog—a guaranteed loss.
Every six years, the Thousand Islands Alliance would organize a medium-sized caravan, assembling more than twenty Flying Boats guarded by two Nascent Soul True Monarchs. As long as they didn’t encounter one of the Central Continent’s notorious Tribulation Cultivator gangs, they were virtually unshakable.
Yang Jing was so keen on the position of Island Master precisely because each Island Master was allotted seven spots in the caravan.
The Nine Marvels Sect was one of the Central Continent’s top-tier Major Sects, so it was naturally on the caravan’s route.
Wu Huai’an respectfully retrieved a Jade Box from his Storage Bag. Opening it revealed fourteen Jade Tokens. Because they held both Dawn Island and Golden Bell Island, the number of tokens was doubled.
A fleet of Flying Boats, like a cluster of islands, formed a convoy stretching for dozens of miles, suspended five hundred zhang high in the air. Banners fluttered, and a continuous stream of Spiritual Light flowed between them.
Smaller Flying Boats buzzed about like a busy swarm of bees, transporting all sorts of goods into the larger vessels’ cargo holds.
Yang Jing stood on the deck, looking down at the azure ocean below. To avoid attracting unwanted attention, Iron Head and Yinjiao had also arranged for a large quantity of goods to be loaded. Most of it consisted of Spiritual Objects native to Dawn Island and Golden Bell Island. If they sold them successfully, they could earn over a hundred thousand Spirit Stones.
The profit from simply selling Spiritual Objects was limited; earning over a hundred thousand in profit from a single trip was already considered quite good.
The caravan didn’t linger for long. Once the cargo was fully loaded, it quickly set sail for the Central Continent. To conserve Spiritual Qi, the Flying Boats didn’t travel at maximum speed, instead choosing an economical tunneling speed slightly faster than that of a Golden Core Cultivator, flying high in the sky.
The Central Continent was the largest of all the continents. Even though the caravan’s speed was considerable, it still took them about two days to reach the mainland.
Yang Jing looked down upon the Central Continent. His Spiritual Sense was sharp, and with a single glance, he could tell the difference between it and the Western Continent.
As a Continent that had fallen from the Upper Realm, the Central Continent’s sky was clear and its earth was vibrant. Spirit Veins lay buried deep within the ground, erupting forth with a momentum like vaporizing clouds. The Spiritual Qi here was pure, gentle, and Yang-aspected. It was perfectly balanced, completely devoid of the turbid, malevolent qi that was ubiquitous in the Western Continent.
No wonder the cultivators of the Central Continent had such exceptional Talent, with those who awakened Divine Techniques being as numerous as crucian carp crossing a river. Even Western Continent Cultivators, after achieving Core Formation, would go through great pains to travel to the Central Continent to advance their Cultivation.
Given the caravan’s Power, they hadn’t encountered any Tribulation Cultivators daring enough to cause trouble even while at sea. Once they were over the Central Continent’s landmass, their journey was naturally even smoother.
「Seven days later」, the caravan reached its first stop, a Marketplace jointly operated by several local Immortal Cultivation Clans. Yang Jing simply remained on the Flying Boat to continue refining his Magical Power, while Iron Head and Yinjiao went out to sell some Spiritual Materials and purchase Spirit Medicine Seeds and other materials not found in the Western Continent.
Yang Jing personally entered his Inner World and, based on the nature of each Spirit Medicine, planted them in various locations within it.
After more than a decade of persistent collection, his Inner World was now filled with all sorts of rare Spirit Medicines. The Pure Yang Apricot Tree, in particular, was lush and flourishing, its branches spreading out like a magnificent canopy.
Yang Jing had long since re-refined the Magical Treasure he had previously obtained, the Golden Crow Pure Yang Mirror, with his Sun True Fire, and had hung it in the sky of his Inner World. Besides supplying the Great Sun True Light needed for the Spirit Medicines to grow, it also continuously released Great Sun Fire Qi. This qi combined with the Jia Wood Spiritual Qi released by the Spirit Medicines in his inner heaven-and-earth, generating Celestial Yang Qi.
He discovered that because the conditions in his Inner World were controllable, the Celestial Yang Qi it produced was far purer and easier to refine than that of the outside world. It also possessed a trace of Spiritual Essence that the outside world’s Celestial Yang Qi lacked.
In terms of his Qi Cultivation, Yang Jing had almost reached his limit, and was now just continuously polishing his Magical Power in preparation for reaching the Nascent Soul stage. His Body Refinement, however, was only equivalent to the Early Stage Golden Core. He had only just condensed his True Body and still had a long way to go.
However, Yang Jing’s foundation in the Nine Yang Body was incredibly solid. It had been refined by Innate Pure Yang Qi, and its essence had already surpassed the limits of the Nine Yang Body. Furthermore, the Nine Yang Body itself was a Cultivation Technique that emphasized steady accumulation, aiming for an eventual burst of progress that would surpass all others.
Even though his rate of progress was among the fastest ever recorded in the Nine Yang Sect, it would still take him nearly a hundred years to reach the Perfect Golden Core stage.
Yang Jing felt no impatience. He simply spent his days absorbing the surging Celestial Yang Qi from his Inner World, nourishing the True Blood in the Acupoints throughout his body and increasing his Cultivation.
His daily schedule was very regular. He would either polish his Magical Power or cultivate his Nine Yang Body, and spend the remaining time refining his various Magical Treasures and practicing Magic.
The Moon Demon King, suppressed in the Yin Qi World, was still clinging to life, providing Yang Jing with a constant supply of pure Magical Power. This meant he didn’t have to worry about his Cultivation regressing due to expending Magical Power on refining Magical Treasures.
Every time the caravan made a stop, Yang Jing would send Iron Head to collect Spirit Medicine Seeds and mature plants to transplant into his Inner World, increasing his production of Celestial Yang Qi.
The Central Continent was rich in resources. Spirit Trees and Spirit Medicines that were thousands or even ten thousand years old—treasures that could serve as the foundation of a sect in the Western Continent—would occasionally appear for sale in the Central Continent. Although the required Spirit Stones were astronomical, there was always a market for them.
Acquiring several Ten Thousand Years Spirit Woods and Spirit Medicines at auctions led to an unexpected consequence for Yang Jing: he had completely run out of Spirit Stones.
Left with no choice, Yang Jing had to start Refining some Spirit Pills and Magical Treasures with his disciples again.
Even in the Central Continent, Tier Four Elixirs that could help Nascent Soul Cultivators advance their Cultivation were still extremely valuable. The Tier Four Pill Formulas Yang Jing knew were even less difficult to refine than the Yin Yang Two Qi Pill, so it was a simple task for him.
As for Magical Treasures, refining a Tier Four Magical Treasure took months. Yang Jing could only work with Ji Feng to refine some Tier Three Magical Treasures.
The abundance of Spiritual Materials in the Central Continent gave Iron Head and Ji Feng plenty of opportunities to practice.
To avoid being noticed by anyone with ill intentions, Yang Jing cautiously used Fetal Transformation to change his appearance and then used his Escape Technique to travel to other Marketplaces to sell his wares.
This actually allowed him to visit many of the Central Continent’s Marketplaces and collect some Spirit Medicines that weren’t available at the auctions.
Some of the larger Treasure Houses, in order to acquire the Tier Four Spiritual Pills, even offered precious Tier Four Pill Formulas in trade. This, in turn, allowed Yang Jing to collect quite a few new Pill Formulas.
But even with all his caution, the appearance of a treasure on the Level of a Tier Four Elixir in a Marketplace inevitably caused a stir.
There was no shortage of people who wanted to rob him outright, or to imprison him, an Alchemist, and force him to become a Pill Slave.
When he encountered Golden Core Cultivators, Yang Jing naturally held nothing back and killed them on the spot. Although the average Level of cultivators in the Central Continent was much higher than in the Western Continent, he had yet to meet a Golden Core Cultivator who could withstand a single strike from his sword. Typically, he would just form a Sword Mantra, and his opponent, along with their Defensive Magical Treasure, would be sliced in two.
If he ran into a Nascent Soul Cultivator, he would just use his incredibly refined Escape Technique to slip away. With his current mastery of the Five Elements Escape Technique, any pursuing Nascent Soul Cultivator who wasn’t also skilled in Escape Techniques had no hope of catching him.
From these Tribulation Cultivators alone, Yang Jing collected a considerable amount of Spirit Stones and Spiritual Objects. He melted down their Magical Treasures and re-refined them, making them even more powerful than before and ensuring that not even their original owners would recognize them.
By the time the caravan had ventured deep into the Central Continent Inland, Yang Jing’s Inner World had gained a dozen more Spirit Trees, and rare Spirit Medicines of all kinds could be found everywhere.
He sat cross-legged on a Meditation Cushion on a mountain cliff, a teacup in hand, calming the restlessness brought on by just having refined Celestial Yang Qi.
The various Spirit Plants had caused the Jia Wood Spiritual Qi in his Inner World to surge, to the point that the supply of Great Sun Fire Qi was struggling to keep up.
Yang Jing estimated that at his current pace, it would now only take sixty years for his Nine Yang Body to reach the Perfect Golden Core stage.
He took a satisfied sip of Spirit Tea and felt a coolness spread throughout his body. His eyes, in particular, grew as deep and serene as a secluded pool.
This Spirit Tea was something he had picked from an eight-thousand-year-old Mysterious Tea Tree. The leaves of the Mysterious Tea Tree could be harvested once every thirty years, and after being processed, the tea could refine one’s Magical Power and aid in the cultivation of Dharma Eyes.
Although it could only be harvested every thirty years, the Mysterious Tea Tree stood a full seventy or eighty feet tall, twisting like a hornless dragon. A single harvest provided enough tea to last a very long time.
"Master."
Yinjiao flew respectfully up the cliff face, a Jade Scroll in his hand.
"This is the list for the upcoming auction."
Yang Jing nodded.
During this period, both Yinjiao and Iron Head’s Cultivation had improved significantly. Because the Supreme Nine Transformations of the Dragon Scripture was so difficult to cultivate, Yinjiao was still over a decade away from Foundation Establishment Perfection. Iron Head, on the other hand, had already passed the first two barriers of the Nine Yang Body. He was only one step away from passing the final True Body Barrier and breaking through to the Golden Core realm.
According to Yang Jing’s estimates, Iron Head would break through the True Body Barrier within the next year or two.
