Ah Guoshami fell silent for a moment, then that same phony smile that made Yang Jing feel slightly nauseous reappeared on his face:

"Was I really that obvious? I shouldn’t have been. Your perception is simply too sharp, Yang Jing."

He was already starting to have trouble maintaining his hypocritical facade.

According to the plan of the Venerable and the Father God, the entire Nine Marvels Small Realm was his incubation bed. These Golden Core Cultivators, along with lesser gods like Ye Luoyi, were all nourishment for his growth. This was the only way he could become a Divine Being of the Celestial Wheel Realm within a year, entrusting himself to all the lights between heaven and earth and becoming untraceable.

If he failed to advance to the Celestial Wheel Realm, the moment he left the Nine Marvels Small Realm, he would fall into the hands of the Nine Marvels Sect’s Divinity Transformation Elder, his fate entirely at their mercy.

The White Temple’s grand plan, a millennium in the making, would suffer a devastating blow. Even if he were lucky enough to escape with his life, he would still face the most terrifying divine punishment from the Father God, the White God.

The plan wasn’t supposed to go so poorly. These Divine Beings, incubated from the White God’s Primordial Seeds and using Golden Core Cultivators as hosts, were born into the Nether Realm. While this was roughly equivalent to the Cultivators’ Golden Core Realm, as long as they skillfully mastered the Authority passed down by the Father God, they should have held a crushing advantage over any Golden Core Cultivator.

But not even the White God could have predicted that a monster like Yang Jing would be among the Cultivators participating in the Contest of the Nine Marvels. He was clearly only at the Golden Core Realm, yet he could seal and slaughter Divine Beings at will.

Yang Jing then took out the Alien Gemstone he’d gotten from slaying the Evil God from his Storage Bag.

"It seems you’re in great need of these."

Ah Guoshami’s eyes shot open, and he spoke through clenched teeth.

"Looks like quite a few useless fools have died at your hands. What a shame we can’t open a gate to the Netherworld in this Small Realm. Otherwise, I’d show you what true terror really is!"

He hadn’t imagined that so many lesser gods had already fallen to Yang Jing. Especially that useless Ye Luoyi, who had devoured so many of his own kind only to be defeated so easily.

This widened the gap to his advancement to the Celestial Wheel Realm so much that he was left with practically no other choice: he had to defeat Yang Jing and seize all the Authority he possessed.

This forced Ah Guoshami’s hand, and he made his decision.

The next moment, a fluid-like white light poured from his body, so brilliant it was as if the sun itself had fallen to earth.

The overflowing, unnatural heat warped the very Spiritual Mechanism, and the temperature in the surrounding area began to climb dramatically.

In the extreme heat, the already ravaged ground suddenly burst into flames despite the lack of wind, great fires roaring to life.

Even the rocks and soil were scorched until they smoldered, emitting plumes of acrid smoke.

Witnessing this terrifying display of might, Yang Jing immediately unleashed his Five Elements Wheel. Bolstered by it, his Magical Power instantly formed a Five-Colored Cloud Barrier, enveloping not only himself but also the massive Five-Colored hand behind him.

He knew the importance of the Alien Gemstone, so he naturally couldn’t let Ah Guoshami get his hands on it.

Xiang Dingtian was incredibly resilient; it would take at least one hour to completely finish Refining him.

Ah Guoshami’s figure emerged from the white light. His appearance had changed drastically. He now stood over twenty feet tall, his body shrouded in white light. His human hands and feet had transformed into sharp claws. His face was devoid of features, save for a single pair of cold, menacing eyes.

"Those lesser gods failed to form a Divine Body. Most of their Divine Power and Divine Souls are hidden away in the Netherworld; they can only walk this world in the form of an avatar. Though they are called Divine Beings, they’re no different from wandering ghosts. And since the gates to the Netherworld cannot be opened within the Nine Marvels Small Realm, their situation is even more pathetic. They can only rely on their Authority and Divine Power to haphazardly piece together an avatar, leaving their Divine Souls exposed. That’s why you were able to slay them so easily."

He looked down at his own sharp, white claws.

"But I am different. Thanks to a gift from the Father God, I formed a true Divine Body while still in the Nether Realm. You’ve forced me into this state... I hope you can last long enough to make it interesting."

Ah Guoshami’s cold eyes stared intently at the Five-Colored Cloud Barrier before him.

Yang Jing’s expression turned grave. In his eyes, Ah Guoshami’s body had almost completely transformed into roiling Divine Power. The pressure emanating from him was even greater than that of some of the weaker Nascent Soul Cultivators. The two Nascent Soul Cultivators from the Thousand Islands Alliance who had guarded the merchant caravan, for instance, would have been no match for him.

The Evil Gods he’d encountered before weren’t even worthy of carrying Ah Guoshami’s shoes.

The next moment, Ah Guoshami’s body flared with white light as he charged directly into the Five-Colored Cloud Barrier. Upon entering, he found the barrier to be surprisingly resilient. Though made of cloud-like energy, it felt like a web of steel cables. As he flew, he could hear the constant sound of strands snapping.

The deeper he plunged into the Cloud Barrier, the more it felt like being trapped in a quagmire. The nearly endless barrier swarmed him; for every strand he tore through, an even thicker wave of clouds would surge forward to replace it.

He became disoriented, completely unaware of his location within the mists.

"Light Scatter!"

Ah Guoshami bellowed, and countless densely packed Light Bullets erupted from his body, spraying out in every direction.

The highly penetrative Light Bullets pierced through the clouds and then vanished without a trace, completely devoured by the Cloud Barrier.

Ah Guoshami’s eyes darted about rapidly. The Light Bullets were like extensions of his sight; even after passing through the Cloud Barrier, they continued to transmit everything they perceived back to him.

"Got you!"

He clapped his hands together, and a massive Light Saber that seemed to pierce the heavens slashed down toward Yang Jing. It carved a massive gash through the seemingly endless Cloud Barrier.

At the far end of the Light Saber’s path, a figure flickered and vanished.

"Hah!"

Ah Guoshami instantly appeared at the other end of the Light Saber’s trajectory, unleashing a spray of innumerable Light Bullets at Yang Jing’s fleeting figure.

Yang Jing narrowed his eyes. With a flick of his Sword Pointing, he sent out streams of Sword Qi, knocking aside the terrifyingly powerful Light Bullets.

But unexpectedly, one of the Light Bullets rapidly expanded, instantly morphing into Ah Guoshami. It reached out and crushed the incoming Sword Qi, while its other claw stretched like rubber, lunging for Yang Jing’s head.

Yang Jing’s Magical Power condensed, forming a Five-Colored Umbrella to block the Light Claw.

"BOOM!"

With a tremendous crash, the Five-Colored Umbrella was torn right through. The sharp tips of the claw stopped just inches from Yang Jing’s eyes.

In a flash of lightning, Yang Jing warped away using Thunder Escape. But in the next instant, Ah Guoshami powered through the resistance of the Five-Colored Cloud Barrier and caught up to him.

"Weren’t you so high and mighty before? If you just obediently let me devour you, you wouldn’t have to suffer like this!"

Ah Guoshami snarled, swinging his arms wide to tear Yang Jing to shreds.

He had been forced to use his not-yet-fully-matured Divine Body, severely stunting his future potential for growth. How could he not utterly despise Yang Jing for it?

Yang Jing’s expression remained calm as he summoned the Celestial Waterfall Sword and launched a counterattack against Ah Guoshami.

In a mere instant, Sword Gang and Light Claw clashed hundreds of times.

"CLANG!"

The Celestial Waterfall Sword let out a mournful cry as it was sent flying by the Light Claw.
